Militant killed in encounter in South Kashmir's Tral
An unidentified militant was killed in a gunfight in South Kashmir's Tral Thursday morning.
The operation that was launched early Thursday morning following inputs about the presence of militant is under progress.
Officials said a joint team of forces cordoned off Nader village of Tral in South Kashmir's Pulwama district.
As the joint team of forces were zeroing in on the target, the militants hiding in the area opened fire and tried to break the security cordon. The joint team of forces returned the fire leading to a gunfight.
An unidentified militant was killed in the gunfight, but his body is yet to be recovered, officials said, adding that the operation is under progress and a joint team of forces are searching for other possible militants hiding in the area.
The encounter comes two days after security forces killed three Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorists in South Kashmir's Shopian district.
Officials say before the Tuesday encounter, only 14 local militants were listed in Valley.

"Congress and its clown CM'S antics won't deter us": KTR slams Revanth Reddy over ACB summons in Formula E case
Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], June 13 (ANI): BRS working president KT Rama Rao launched a sharp attack on Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Friday, shortly after receiving a notice from the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to appear before it on June 16 in connection with alleged irregularities in the Formula E race held in Hyderabad. Taking to X, KTR wrote, 'When you cannot run a government, keep people busy with a circus and distractions! Congress and its clown CM's antics won't deter us.' KTR said that he would cooperate with the ACB officials, asserting that the Rs 44 crore in question was transferred through official banking channels and remains in the Formula E account. 'I have been summoned by the Anti-Corruption Bureau to appear for 'investigation' on Monday at 10am, in Formula-E case where 44 crore was transferred from Bank to Bank and the money is very much in the Account of FE. As a law-abiding citizen, I will attend and fully cooperate with the ACB officials!' he said. Taking a swipe at Revanth Reddy, KTR invoked the 2015 cash-for-vote scandal, saying, 'Meanwhile, can someone remind me who just completed 10 years of being caught with a Black Bag full of cash?' Challenging Revanth Reddy to a public face-off, KTR proposed a lie detector test, stating, 'Mr. Revant Reddy, As we both are facing an ongoing ACB investigation, Why not both of us take a Lie Detector test in the presence of a Judge, broadcast it on Live Television and let the whole of Telangana decide who's the culprit. Do you have the courage to take the test along with me?' He also criticised the alleged misuse of public funds, saying, 'Why waste crores of public money by repeated enquiries and propaganda, especially when you keep claiming every day that the state is bankrupt.' KTR is accused of making unregulated payments, some of them in foreign currency, during the organisation of the Formula E race in Hyderabad under the previous BRS government. Supporting her brother, BRS MLC K Kavitha condemned the ACB's summons, alleging a political vendetta. 'I strongly condemn the Congress government issuing notices to our Working President KTR again as part of its political agenda. No matter how many conspiracies you hatch, we will continue to expose your failures in the public sphere,' Kavitha said in a post on X. Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) against KTR and others. The ED initiated the case following the FIR filed by the Telangana ACB in the Formula E funding case. (ANI)

KTR slams Revanth, calls ACB notices ‘diversion tactics'
Hyderabad: Responding to the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) notices, BRS working president KT Rama Rao criticised chief minister A Revanth Reddy for repeatedly issuing notices in the Formula-E case, calling it a diversion tactic to distract the public from his administrative failures. Confirming that he received a fresh ACB notice on Friday, the BRS leader said that, as a law-abiding citizen, he would fully cooperate and appear before the ACB on Monday at 10 am. "The Congress came to power on false promises and is now resorting to circus-like distractions to cover up its incompetence. The CM is trying to shift focus from his govt failures. No matter how many notices he sends, this bankrupt Congress govt cannot stop us from being the voice of the people of Telangana," said the former minister. He stated that ₹44 crore had been transferred transparently and officially from the HMDA's govt account to the Formula-E organisers, and that the money still remains in the organisers' account. "Yet the cheif minister, who failed to retrieve this money due to sheer administrative incapacity, is now once again using ACB to create a political spectacle," he said. KTR reminded that the Formula-E event brought global recognition to Hyderabad and Telangana. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 夢の農場を作り上げよう アドベンチャーゲーム ゲームをプレイ Undo Instead of taking pride in it, the chief minister chose to cancel the race for political reasons. He accused Revanth Reddy of deliberately avoiding efforts to recover public funds and instead weaponising the issue to harass political opponents. "Regardless of how many times they summon me, the fact remains that every rupee was spent with transparency. Everyone knows the truth," he said. The BRS leader also dared chief minister to take a lie detector test live on television along with him, in the presence of a judge, as both were facing ACB cases. "Let the people of Telangana decide who is guilty and who is not," KTR challenged. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here . Bengal: 2 days after clash, uneasy calm as Rabindranagar returns to normalcy
AN UNEASY calm prevails in Rabindranagar and surrounding areas, including Maheshtala, days after Wednesday's clashes. Residents remain largely indoors, with shops and markets shut, as a massive police deployment keeps a tight vigil over the affected localities. Prohibitory orders are still in place. 'Shops are still shut, markets too,' said Praveen Sharma, a youth residing near the Akra fish market. The violence, which erupted on Wednesday afternoon in Maheshtala under the Rabindranagar police station limits, resulted in injuries to many. According to sources, the flashpoint was an attempt to construct a 'tulsi mancha' (a platform for a sacred basil plant) at a site where a fruit seller, a member of a minority community, previously had a thela shop. The dispute quickly escalated into a skirmish between two groups, leading to widespread vandalism, brick-pelting and attacks on police personnel. Several police vehicles were damaged and at least five police personnel suffered injuries. A large number of personnel from various police stations, including those from Akra Station to Baratola, have been deployed across the Rabindranagar police station area since Thursday. Round-the-clock patrolling and loudspeaker announcements are being conducted to reassure residents and deter any further disturbances. Areas that witnessed vandalism and brick-pelting have been cleaned up, police sources said. So far, a total of 40 people have been arrested in connection with the clashes in Maheshtala. While 28 arrests were made by the police in South 24 Parganas district, 12 were made by the Kolkata Police. Authorities anticipate that the number of arrests will rise as police are likely to conduct special drives to apprehend more trouble-mongers. The police have issued warnings against rumor-mongering and said strict action would be taken against anyone attempting to incite unrest. 'Sustained police presence and ongoing probe aim to restore complete normalcy,' said an officer. Sweety Kumari reports from West Bengal for The Indian Express.
