Raipur: Days after successfully neutralizing Nambala Keshav Rao alias Basavaraju, the General Secretary of CPI (Maoist) and one of India's most wanted militants, during a massive encounter in the Kudmel-Kalhaja-Jatloor forest region of Abujhmarh in Chhattisgarh on May 21, top police officials confirmed that the Dsitrict Reserve Guards have recovered back the AK 47 weapon looted by Basavaraju and associates from security forces during April 2010 Tadmetla ambush in Dantewada District.
DRG jawans had recovered several weapons from the site of encounter after the operation was over and an AK-47 rifle was identified as the one taken by Basavaraju and his associates during the Tadmetla ambush, a notorious attack that had claimed lives of 76 CRPF personnel.
Besides, there were weapons looted by Maoists in Burkapal and Gawdi massacre too, which were recovered back, police said in a statement.
In this decisive operation by the DRG, a total of 27 Maoists were killed, including Basavaraju, who carried a bounty of Rs 1 crore announced by the Government of Chhattisgarh.
Additional rewards had been declared by other LWE-affected states and central agencies. Among the deceased were two Maoists from Andhra Pradesh and three from Telangana, and the total bounty on all 27 neutralized cadres summed up to Rs 3.33 crore.
Of the 27 Maoist bodies recovered, 20 bodies were identified and handed over to their families. One such family, relatives of Kosi alias Hungi, requested local authorities in Narayanpur to conduct the cremation at the district headquarters itself, citing concerns over decomposition and health hazards.

Seven bodies, including that of Basavaraju, remained unclaimed. As per legal protocol, these were cremated in Narayanpur with approval from the executive magistrate.
Investigators describe him as the architect of countless brutal attacks that left thousands of innocent tribals and hundreds of security personnel dead. He also played a central role in the forced recruitment of tribal youth, separating them from their families and radicalizing them into the Maoist ranks.
Police have begun sifting through 258 criminal cases believed to be directly or indirectly linked to Basavaraju. Narayanpur police are continuing further legal procedures and investigative work.
The CPI (Maoist) has since issued a press note admitting the loss of 28 cadres, including Basavaraju. The outfit is allegedly attempting to mobilize supporters across the country to organize events glorifying the slain militants. Authorities are closely monitoring underground Maoist cells and their urban sympathizers to pre-empt any attempts to incite unrest, police said.

Retired School Principal Duped Of Rs 1.02 Crore In A Digital Arrest

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Nandini Chiplunkar, has been duped of Rs 1.02 crores through a digital arrest scam. The scam involved fraudsters claiming to be from Mumbai's Colaba Police and CBI, alleging that Ms Chiplunkar was involved in financial dealings with Naresh Goyal of Jet Airways and money laundering. According to Additional DCP of Crime Branch, Rajesh Dandotiya, on April 27, Ms Chiplunkar received a call stating that her SIM would be deactivated. The fraudsters claimed that there were 267 FIRs against her and kept her under digital arrest for two days. They convinced her to deposit Rs 1 crore in a fake account in exchange for closing the case. While speaking to ANI on Monday, DCP Dandotiya said, "On April 27th, Nandini, who retired as principal of Central School, received a call saying that her SIM was going to get said there was legal action being taken against her and there are 267 an FIRs against the night she was kept on digital arrest..." However, when Ms Chiplunkar went to the bank to break her fixed deposit of Rs 50 lakhs, the bank manager suspected something was amiss and informed the Crime Branch. The officials intervened, and Ms Chiplunkar was able to save her fixed deposit money. "Next day they managed to convince her and she went to break her fixed deposit of Rs 50 lakhs... The bank manager realised that there is some trouble by looking at her face, he said that the server is down and asked her to come back next day and then the Bank Manager immediately informed I spoke to her and convinced that it was a fake call, and she was switched off her phone. But, after two days, she started receiving calls again. We met her and explained to her that such digital arrest calls are lost Rs 1.02 crores, but because the bank was alert, she didn't lose her fixed deposit money...", DCP Dandotiya added. The Crime Branch has taken Ms Chiplunkar's complaint and is investigating the matter. No case has been filed yet, and the authorities are working to identify the accused.

After Maoist loot, cops seize two trucks laden with explosives

ROURKELA: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Rourkela police on Sunday recovered two explosives-laden trucks parked suspiciously near a fuel station at Balughat in RN Pali here for the last two days. The recovery comes close on the heels of the loot of huge quantity of blasting explosives by Maoists from Banko forest in K Balang on May 27. The source of the explosives looted by Maoists and the explosives seized on Sunday has been traced to the same warehouse in Bargaon block of Sundargarh district. The warehouse has been sealed from May 28. Sources said about 116 packets of gelatine sticks, 416 detonators and 750 metre of charging electric wires were recovered from the two trucks. Police said it is suspected that owner of the warehouse Shraban Agarwal is involved in illegal supply of explosives to stone quarries and mines for monetary gain. A top police officer said during investigation, the SIT learnt that on May 27, three trucks laden with explosives had come out of the warehouse. While one truck was looted by the Maoists, the two others were kept hidden. During interrogation in the K Balang case, the warehouse owner told police that explosives loaded in the two trucks were delivered to clients.
