What is Manhattanhenge?
Manhattanhenge happens when the sunset aligns with the city's street grid. The sun appears to set perfectly between the skyline.
The phenomenon takes place on four days a year -- two in the spring, and two in the summer. This year, those dates are May 28 and 29, then July 11 and 12.
The scene typically draws a large crowd of photographers and spectators hoping to snap the perfect shot.
"Reverse Manhattanhenge" happens in the winter months when the sunrise lines up with the grid.

The following Manhattan streets are said to have the best view:
14th Street
23rd Street
34th Street
42nd Street
57th Street
It's also possible to see Manhattanhenge across the East River in Long Island City, Queens.
Wednesday's best time to watch will be at 8:13 p.m. Thursday will be slightly earlier at 8:12 p.m.

Viewing conditions will be far from ideal Wednesday evening. Not only will it be cloudy, but it's likely we'll have showers in the vicinity.
Thursday offers a little bit of hope, with partial clearing on the back edge of a departing system. Unfortunately, we'll have a low-end chance of showers in the forecast, as well.
Temperature-wise, expect the upper 50s on Wednesday and upper 60s on Thursday.

2025 NCAA baseball Super Regionals set: What are the most intriguing matchups?

Top seed Vanderbilt and No. 2 seed Texas were both eliminated on Sunday, but five of the six other top-eight national seeds advanced and will serve as hosts next weekend. Advertisement The story on Monday night was Murray State, which became the 10th No. 4 seed to advance to the Super Regionals since the current format was instituted in 1999. The Racers, the champions of the Missouri Valley Conference tournament, held on for a 12-11 win over Ole Miss in Game 7 of the Oxford Regional on Monday night. Ole Miss trimmed a 12-3 deficit to 12-11 with five runs in the seventh and three in the eighth but went down quietly in the ninth. Little Rock, one of two teams in the field with a losing record, almost became a second No. 4 seed to advance, but the Trojans lost to LSU in the Baton Rouge Regional championship game. The program has reached the Super Regional three previous times under coach Chris Pollard but had to play each time on the road, losing at Texas Tech in 2018, Vanderbilt in 2019 and Virginia in 2023. Duke took the first game in each of those Supers but ultimately fell short. Now, the Blue Devils finally get to play at home, thanks to Murray State's magical run through the Oxford Regional. And how about those Racers! Murray State won the Regional in dramatic fashion, beating Ole Miss twice at Swayze Field to advance to the Supers for the first time in program history. The Racers got it done offensively, scoring a total of 42 runs in their four games in Oxford — three vs. Ole Miss and one vs. Georgia Tech. They will be facing a Duke pitching staff that gave up 10 total runs in three games at the Athens Regional, including only three to a powerful Georgia offense that leads the nation in home runs. — Light THAT moment… #GoRacers🏇 — Murray State Baseball (@RacersBaseball) June 3, 2025 This is a showcase of two of the SEC's — and by definition, the nation's — most talented teams. They might be the top two. Tennessee has prospects such as pitchers Liam Doyle and Marcus Phillips, and infielders Andrew Fischer and Gavin Kilen. Arkansas counters with star shortstop Wehiwa Aloy, outfielder Charles Davalan and pitchers Gage Wood and Zach Root. It's a talent bonanza. Advertisement It's also a continuation of the SEC's disappointment after an underwhelming performance in the Regionals. That one of these teams definitely won't get to Omaha is a downer for the league, especially considering some of the national seeds that didn't make it to the Supers. Tony Vitello returns to his former home to take on mentor Dave Van Horn in one of the sport's great environments. Arkansas took two out of three at home against Tennessee to end the regular season and had no issues cruising through the first weekend, but the Vols seem to have their edge back. — Rexrode The eight-nine matchup is always intriguing, but this one is especially so because after a wild Regional round, we don't have that many Supers featuring two top-16 seeds. And neither team had an easy path to get here. After Oregon State's opening home loss, the Beavers' chances were shaky, but OSU responded by scoring 43 (43!) runs in its final three Regional games. FSU needed some magic of its own to pull off a late-game comeback against Mississippi State and advance to its 19th (19th!) Super Regional, the most of any program in the country. Florida State has one of the top prospects in the country in junior left-hander Jamie Arnold. The Beavers boast one of the best freshmen in the nation in right-hander Dax Whitney. Though they aren't likely to start the same game — Arnold should be the Game 1 guy while Whitney is likely for Game 2 — we are probably in for a masterclass in pitching. — Schnell This battle of the four-letter state schools is a historical mismatch. The Roadrunners are in the NCAA postseason for the first time since 2013 — which happens to be the year that the Bruins last qualified for the College World Series. UCLA won it all 12 years ago. Coach John Savage, in his 21st season, aims to take a fourth UCLA team to Omaha. But UTSA will not be intimidated by the iconic jersey or the setting after it rolled Texas twice en route to sweeping the Austin Regional. It was one of several black eyes for the SEC in the opening weekend of the tournament. Hotel operator NoMad chosen for Ford's Michigan Central Station in Detroit
Ford Motor Co. has found a luxury hotel operator to fill the top floors of its newly redone Michigan Central Station in Detroit. NoMad Hotels, an upscale boutique brand affiliated with Hilton and featuring a bourgeois-bohemian flair, plans to open an approximately 180-room hotel inside the former train depot in the first half of 2027. The rooms, including 30 suites, will be located on floors 14 through 18 of the building's tower, just off Michigan Avenue. The hotel also will feature a restaurant as well as bar and lounge area on the ground floor, plus a "wellness" space for guests on the third floor. The restaurant will be located on the west side of the building, within the station's to-be-rehabbed "carriage house." The carriage house's exterior clock face, now on display inside the station, is to be restored back to its original place. (The clock was stolen off the building years ago by someone who sought to preserve it from destruction, and anonymously returned shortly after Ford Motor Co. bought the whole property in 2018.) Now known as The Station at Michigan Central, the once-abandoned train depot dates to 1913 and, following its acquisition by Ford and the automaker's dramatic multiyear restoration project, reopened to the public in June 2024 as commercial, office and events space. Ford officials have for years indicated that some type of hotel would eventually be coming to The Station, although details were scarce. The official announcement for NoMad Detroit Michigan Central finally came on Monday, June 2. More: These 10 big and empty downtown Detroit buildings still need to be filled The hotel will be the first-ever occupant for the station's top five floors, officials said, as those floors were originally intended as office space for railroad-related businesses, but were never actually used or even built out. The first NoMad Hotel opened in 2012 in New York City and the brand is described on its website as a "vision of where life and art intersect." There are currently just a handful of NoMad Hotels in the world, including in New York, Las Vegas and London, although only the London location is currently affiliated with Hilton. Last year, Hilton reportedly acquired a controlling stake in New York-based developer Sydell Group to expand the NoMad brand globally. Another new NoMad Hotel is to open in Singapore in 2027. 'A year after we opened Michigan Central Station to the world, our vision to create a global innovation hub and a destination symbolizing Detroit's future is well underway,' Bill Ford, executive chair of Ford Motor Co., said in a statement. 'Together with NoMad and Hilton, we are now announcing the next phase of our ambitious vision offering visitors and the community a unique hotel destination and memorable food and beverage experiences in this iconic landmark," he continued. "The new NoMad Detroit hotel will not just be a place to stay, but an energetic and exciting gathering place for years to come.' In a recent interview, Josh Sirefman, CEO of Michigan Central, said they fielded numerous prospects for the station's hotel operator before deciding on NoMad. 'The interest internationally was amazing," he said. "We had 16 finalist proposals that we worked through and ultimately were very happy to choose the Sydell Group and Hilton together, and the NoMad brand." Sirefman said they appreciate NoMad's creative take on the "luxury lifestyle," with its emphasis on art, culture, community and novel experiences, as well as the brand's past experience operating in unique old buildings, such as how NoMad London is within a former courthouse and police station. 'So there's that ability and understanding of what it means to both honor the history and work with the history, but also to be very forward-looking," he said. Sirefman said it is too early to know potential room rates for NoMad Detroit or how many employees will be needed between the hotel and food and beverage spaces, although that number is likely in the hundreds. "NoMad has built a reputation for developing hotels that take inspiration from the history, art, design and culture that make a place unique," Sydell Group founder and CEO Andrew Zobler said in a statement, "and NoMad Detroit is poised to be no exception." Detroit has been experiencing a mini-boom in recent years of new upscale hotels. Some of the latest openings include the 154-room AC Hotel Detroit at the Bonstelle in Midtown, the nearby 227-room Godfrey Hotel Detroit that is also in Corktown, and the 158-room Cambria Hotel on Lafayette in downtown. Looking ahead, a new 600-room JW Marriott is to open in 2027 next to the Huntington Place convention center and an Edition Hotel is to open in the Hudson's site skyscraper that same year. Minnesota Wild re-sign veteran Marcus Johansson to 1-year, $800,000 contract to avoid free agency
The Minnesota Wild re-signed right wing Marcus Johansson on Monday to a one-year, $800,000 contract that keeps the 15-year veteran from becoming a free agent. Johansson had 11 goals and 23 assists in 72 games for the Wild during the 2024-25 regular season, bouncing between the second and third lines. He was sixth on the team in points. The 34-year-old, who was acquired by the Wild from Washington a few days before the NHL trade deadline in 2023, played the 2024-25 season on a $2 million salary cap charge. Johansson had four goals and four assists in nine games for Sweden last month at the ice hockey world championships to help his native country's team win the bronze medal. He has 185 goals and 332 assists over 983 career regular-season games with seven teams in the NHL.
