Snoop Dogg film to be directed by Craig Brewer

Washington DC [US], June 7 (ANI): Craig Brewer, known for helming such films as 'Hustle & Flow' and 'Dolemite Is My Name', is set to direct the biopic of Snoop Dogg.
Universal Pictures has set Craig Brewer to film the definitive biography of Snoop Dogg's rise from hip-hop artist to renowned entertainment magnate.
Brewer will contribute revisions to a script previously written by Joe Robert Cole. The film will be produced by Snoop Dogg, Brian Grazer and Death Row Pictures president Sara Ramaker. SVP Production Development Ryan Jones will oversee the project for the studio, reported Deadline.
The Snoop Dogg film marks the first movie under Death Row Pictures' overall contract with NBCUniversal Entertainment & Studios. It is an offshoot of Death Row Records, the label that established Snoop Dogg's career and is now embarking on an ambitious new chapter with the expansion. The strategic shift strengthens the brand's reach beyond music, ushering in a new era of imaginative on-screen storytelling.
Universal has found success in the historical hip hop space with the F. Gary Gray-directed Straight Outta Compton, the story of the seminal rap group N.W.A film that was nominated for a Best Screenplay Oscar and grossed more than USD 200 million. Before that came 8 Mile, which starred Eminem in a drama based on his life and rise. Grazer produced that film, which grossed USD 250 million and won an Original Song Oscar for "Lose Yourself."
Death Row's upcoming slate of projects starts with the Snoop Dogg biopic. Beyond film, Snoop will return to NBC's musical competition series The Voice this fall, reclaiming his red chair for Season 28. On top of that, he will continue to partner with NBCUniversal on cross-portfolio opportunities; he was a breakout star on NBC and Peacock's coverage of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, reported Deadline. From their dress to their demeanour, Chris and Dakota were seen fully embracing Indian customs. At the Babulnath Temple, they offered prayers, and the next day, the group went to Siddhivinayak Temple, one of Mumbai's most famous religious spots. Dakota wore traditional attire and was seen chatting happily with Sonali and Gayatri as they walked through the temple grounds. Break-up rumours surround Chris and Dakota While their temple visits showed a peaceful side, Chris and Dakota's relationship has been in the news for other reasons. Reports say they have split. A source told PEOPLE magazine, 'It feels final this time.' Neither Chris nor Dakota's teams have commented on this. Earlier in 2024, it was said that the couple had been engaged for years but were not rushing to marry. When rumours of a breakup started in August 2024, Dakota's representative said they were 'happily together.' A source added, 'Sure, they've had issues and taken breaks in the past, but things are great now. They both love their careers. They are balancing things the best they can.' India's highest-paid OTT actor earned ₹125 crore for 7 episodes, more than Shah Rukh Khan or Salman Khan's salary
Streaming platforms are undeniably reshaping the definition of stardom. Gone are the days when people thought OTT was for unconventional actors. In fact, this A-list Bollywood actor has broken all boundaries, outshining Bollywood biggies like Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. Earning a staggering ₹ 125 crore for a single show, he's the highest-paid actor on OTT with a net worth of ₹ 427 crore (approximately $50 million USD), as per multiple reports. Ajay became the highest-paid OTT actor in 2021 when he signed for the Hindi adaptation of the hit British series, Luther, Rudra: Edge of Darkness. Starring as the cop with a dark history, he reportedly charged more than ₹ 100 crore for the seven-episode show. As per a report of Bollywood Hungama, Ajay was paid almost ₹ 18 crore per episode of the show. In total, he took home ₹ 125 crore and became the highest-paid actor in Indian entertainment history. His salary beats big players like Shah Rukh Khan who reportedly charged between ₹ 90 and ₹ 100 crore for his films Raees and Zero. Salman Khan is believed to charge a similar amount for his film, Bharat. Around the same time, Salman reportedly received a payment of approximately ₹ 50 crore for his 2021 film Antim: The Final Truth. Jaideep Ahlawat reportedly received ₹ 20 crore as his salary for Patal Lok Season 2. Ajay was last seen in Raid 2. He has several projects in the pipeline, including Son of Sardaar 2, De De Pyaar De 2 and Dhamaal 4. However, all of these will see a theatrical release. The actor is yet to announce his next OTT project.

Ektaa Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms, Netflix forge new creative partnership
