Peter Sohn to Direct Pixar's THE INCREDIBLES 3 as Brad Bird Steps Aside — GeekTyrant

Disney and Pixar are officially moving forward with The Incredibles 3 , and for the first time in the series, Brad Bird won't be in the director's chair. Instead, longtime Pixar veteran Peter Sohn, fresh off the success of Elemental , will take the helm. Sohn has been part of the Pixar family for decades, contributing in various roles on The Incredibles , Incredibles 2 , Finding Nemo , Up , and Wall-E . Most recently, he directed Elemental , which quietly climbed to nearly $500 million at the global box office after a soft start. Sohn's ability to craft emotional, character-driven stories makes him a natural fit for the Parr family's next chapter. As for Bird, while he won't be directing this time around, he's still very much involved and will be credited as both screenwriter and producer. It's not confirmed why Bird stepped aside, but Bird has a couple of other projects brewing, including the sci-fi noir Ray Gunn with Skydance and the long-gestating historical epic 1906 at Disney. The Incredibles franchise has been one of Pixar's crown jewels. The original 2004 film introduced us to Bob and Helen Parr (a.k.a. Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl), their super-powered kids, and a suburban life constantly disrupted by villainy. Disney first confirmed development on the third installment during its D23 Expo in late summer 2024. No release date or story details have been shared yet, but Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, and Samuel L. Jackson are expected to return. While fans might miss Bird's directorial touch, Sohn's jumping on the project signals a promising new direction. He knows the characters, he knows the world, and with Bird still on board creatively, Incredibles 3 looks to be in solid hands. More to come as this one powers up. Source: Variety
