The UAE has launched a humanitarian initiative in Chad to support Sudanese refugees, distributing 3,000 food baskets across three camps and deploying a medical team to deliver critical healthcare services.
The initiative is part of the UAE's ongoing efforts to alleviate the suffering of displaced communities across the region.
The aid distribution took place in the Doki, Alasha, and Abu Qadam camps, benefiting approximately 15,000 refugees. Coordinated with Chad's Ministry of Social Action, Solidarity, and Humanitarian Affairs, as well as the National Committee for the Reception and Reintegration of Refugees and Returnees, the project reflects a joint commitment to meeting the basic needs of vulnerable populations.
In detail, 1,500 food baskets were delivered to the Dogi camp, supporting 7,500 individuals. Alasha camp received 1,300 baskets, reaching 6,500 people, while 200 baskets were distributed in the Abu Qadam camp, assisting 1,000 refugees. The food aid is designed to cover families' nutritional needs for a full month, helping improve food security and living conditions in the targeted areas.
The initiative also included the deployment of a field medical team to Abu Qadam camp, where refugees received essential healthcare services.
In addition to the latest relief efforts, the UAE has built three hospitals dedicated to serving Sudanese refugees in neighboring countries. These include two field hospitals in the Chadian cities of Amdjaras and Abeche, as well as Madhool Hospital in the Republic of South Sudan.
This latest initiative reinforces the UAE's longstanding humanitarian approach, grounded in solidarity, regional cooperation, and a firm commitment to improving the lives of those affected by conflict and crisis.
