Spring Lake residents win rare right to join lawsuit over Verizon 5G towers
Technology moves fast – but the pace of change doesn't always sit well with everyone. In the quiet, historic community of Spring Lake, a group of residents is pushing back against a plan to bring new Verizon 5G towers to their neighborhood. Now, they've been given the green light to join a federal lawsuit challenging the rollout, reports NJ.com.The ruling was issued by a federal judge on Friday. It allows residents to back the borough's lawsuit and thus strengthen the opposition against the proposed 5G infrastructure.
Last November, Verizon Wireless sued the town of Spring Lake. In the lawsuit, the carrier claimed local officials violated federal law by taking too much time to review (and, according to Verizon , unfairly reject) its proposal. The carrier claims the town missed a legal deadline. Also, it alleges the town didn't give strong enough reasons for rejecting its 5G project. The legal deadline, otherwise known as a "shot clock" is a federal deadline that needs to be met by local governments when reviewing applications for wireless infrastructure. This includes 5G towers.
Meanwhile, the Spring Lake residents organized themselves under the group "Spring Lake Against 5G Towers". They wanted to join the lawsuit because they believed the 5G towers would directly impact their homes, including their property value and the character of their historic neighborhood.
-Kelley Badishkanian, a founding member of Spring Lake Against 5G Towers The group consists of seven people who live near the sites where the 5G towers would be built. They claim they would be uniquely affected by this construction. Unfortunately, the town and the residents seem not to fully agree on what alternatives they should consider, despite both sides opposing the 5G towers.
Meanwhile, Verizon opposed the residents joining the lawsuit, and it claimed their concerns were being represented by the town.
Nevertheless, the federal judge said they could officially join the lawsuit, as their concerns are closely related to the main case, and the lawsuit is still in its early stages. The judge also mentioned the residents joining wouldn't unfairly affect the other parties. Switch to Total 5G+ Unlimited 3-Month plan or Total 5G Unlimited and get a free iPhone.

Deals: iPhone 16 and 15 series is £100 off, Honor 400 series comes with freebies
This week (almost) the entire lineup of current iPhone models is £100 off – the only exception to that is the iPhone 16e, which sticks to its £600 base price (but it may not be the best phone for that money, as we're about to see). Starting with the top-end model, the Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max is pricey – a situation not helped by expensive storage upgrades. The discount helps, though. For more details on the phone, check out our comparison articles that pit the iPhone 16 Pro Max against the smaller iPhone 16, the Galaxy S25 Ultra and the Pixel 9 Pro XL. Then there is the smaller iPhone 16 Pro – it has the same hardware, besides the screen size and battery capacity. Here's how it compares against the vanilla iPhone 16 and the Galaxy S25. Speaking of, the Apple iPhone 16 is just about the same size as the 16 Pro. It doesn't have a telephoto camera or a 120Hz ProMotion display and it uses the Apple A18 chipset (rather than the A18 Pro). Still, it offers broadly the same Apple experience. The Apple iPhone 16 Plus is for people who prefer a larger screen, but don't want the premium features – and premium price – of the Pro Max. Here are the key differences between the Plus and the vanilla iPhone 16. The older vanilla models are still around too. The iPhone 15 is down to £600, the same price as the 16e. Both have 6.1' displays, but the older model has the better panel (brighter, Dolby Vision). And it has a 12MP ultra-wide camera, while the 16e only has a 48MP main. The 16e does have the newer chipset (Apple A18 vs. A16) with Apple's first-ever 5G modem. The e-phone has wireless charging, but without the magnets it fits awkwardly with the MagSafe ecosystem of accessories. The Apple iPhone 15 Plus is available as a cheaper option to the 16 Plus for those wanting a larger display. Amazon is offering the two new Honor 400 phones with a rich bundle of freebies in lieu of discounts. The Honor 400 Pro comes with a free pair of Honor Choice Earbuds Clip, a free Honor Watch and a free Portable Speaker Pro. The Honor 400 is paired with a free Honor Pad X8a instead – an 11' tablet with a Snapdragon 680 chipset, quad speakers and an 8,300mAh battery. Honor 400 free Honor Pad X8a Read our review 8/256GB - £400 at Amazon UK After a long wait, the Nintendo Switch 2 is finally available – just the console costs at £680, but you can get the bundle with Mario Kart World for £790. You could buy the game separately too, of course, which currently comes out cheaper as the game is £75. Alternatively, you can pick up the Sony PlayStation 5 (slim) for a lot less – just £385. No, it's not a portable console like the Switch, it's strictly for gaming at home (which is how a lot of people use the Switch anyway). You can grab a PlayStation Portal for £200 more and still be under the price of a Switch 2. This budget carrier now supports Android smartwatches, but only if you use this watch
Receive the latest Android news By subscribing you agree to our terms and conditions and privacy policy Comment byu/VisibleCM from discussion inVisible One Reddit user pointed out a possible reason why Pixel Watches were prioritized. Citing a comment from the US Mobile CEO, they noted that "Google actually put in a lot of the legwork themselves to get the Pixel watch working on Verizon MVNOs like US Mobile and Visible." That might explain why Samsung support is still unavailable. It's also worth noting that Google's Pixel devices are often sold unlocked directly from Google, making them more common on MVNOs like Visible. In contrast, Samsung wearables are often sold through the big three carriers. Right now, only Pixel Watch 2 and newer LTE models are supported. It's a limited start, but one that signals Visible is finally expanding its Android offerings beyond phones. For now, Samsung Galaxy Watch users will need to wait, but given the popularity of those devices, it seems likely that broader support is on the way. Apple is bringing third-party Control Center widgets to watchOS 26
Apple is holding its annual Worldwide Developers Conference next week where we'll see its latest operating systems which are expected to see a major visual overhaul and new naming scheme. According to a new report from 9to5Mac, watchOS 26 will offer third-party widgets in the Control Center. This has been a longtime request for Apple Watch users who have so far only had access to Apple's first-party apps and toggles in the drop-down menu. Users will also be able to fully customize the widget placement on their smartwatch via the Apple Watch app on their iPhone. Source
