Irregularities in Kolar Municipal Council; complaint filed
Kolar: A series of irregularities in the Kolar Municipal Council continues to unfold. Through the creation of fake documents, bogus accounts, and counterfeit signatures and seals, unscrupulous individuals have been plundering the Municipal Council's properties worth crores of rupees.
Due to the negligence of officials and staff, Municipal Council assets have fallen into the hands of private individuals. A formal complaint has been lodged by Municipal Council member Praveen Gowda against Commissioner Prasad.
It has come to light that private individuals have now constructed and sold housing projects on land valued in crores, which was purchased by the Kolar Municipal Council. Specifically, in Survey No. 29 of the Khadripur village in Kolar taluk, 1.19 acres of land has been developed and sold.
This land, originally owned by Munivenkatappa and Munisonnappa, was bought from the Municipal Council for a housing scheme by Mahmud Akbar and S. Chand Pasha through a General Power of Attorney during 2001-02.
The land in question, acquired for the housing scheme, was supposed to provide plots to the homeless within the Municipal Council area, purchased in the name of the Municipal Commissioner through the Governor's directive. However, due to delays in maintaining proper records by the Municipal Council, certain influential individuals and land mafias managed to forge documents claiming non-affiliation with the Municipal Council and deceived authorities into approving housing projects.
Currently, Praveen Gowda has raised this issue with Commissioner Prasad, warning that if action is not taken to retrieve the land, he will escalate the matter further. The creation of fake documents for properties worth hundreds of crores, as well as the use of bogus records such as e-accounting systems for sales, is still rampant in the Municipal Council. An individual named Ejaz Pasha has managed to develop and sell plots of land claiming them as his own.
In response, alert officials have written to the Sub-Registrar's office to prevent any registrations or transactions related to this land. In a shocking turn, the Municipal Council created a fake document claiming there were no disputes regarding the land.
It appears that the then-in-charge municipal commissioner, Ambika, the Director of the Planning Authority, had their signature forged during these transactions. Consequently, concerned Municipal Council officials are preparing to file a complaint at the Galpete police station to protect Municipal Council properties. Additionally, Municipal Council President Lakshmidevamma and Commissioner Prasad are meeting Kolar Tahsildar Nayan to seek essential documents and prevent further illegal registrations.

Tamil Nadu BJP spokesperson accuses DMK of misleading public on census, delimitation
Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], June 8 (ANI): Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson ANS Prasad criticised the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) over its remarks on the Census and the upcoming delimitation exercise, alleging that the party is attempting to mislead the public. In a press statement, Prasad said that Chief Minister MK Stalin and DMK MP Kanimozhi should refrain from making 'baseless allegations' against the Central Government. He asserted that such comments appear politically motivated and distract from administrative failures in Tamil Nadu. 'The DMK government's policies have plunged the state into turmoil, with rampant crimes, soaring essential costs, and a deteriorating law and order situation. Rather than addressing these pressing issues, the DMK is spreading misinformation to divert attention from its failures,' he said. Prasad added that attempts to malign the Central Government would not succeed, given the clarity provided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He further said that the DMK's actions raise constitutional concerns, calling their statements 'unconstitutional and unlawful.' Responding to remarks made by DMK MP Kanimozhi, Prasad said her accusations against AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami are 'baseless and unsupported by evidence.' He said Palaniswami's criticism of corruption and dynastic politics in Tamil Nadu is legitimate, given the prevailing circumstances in Tamil Nadu. 'The allegations of betrayal levelled against Palaniswami by Kanimozhi are unsubstantiated and seem to be a deflection from the real issues plaguing the state. Meanwhile, Prasad said that Home Minister Amit Shah has clarified that no state's rights will be compromised during the delimitation process. CM Stalin's continued propagation of misinformation regarding delimitation, despite Amit Shah's clarification, is concerning. It appears to be a deliberate attempt to create confusion and mislead the public. The people of Tamil Nadu deserve accurate information and transparent governance. Politicians should prioritise the state's welfare over partisan interests. He further said that the constitutional delimitation process should proceed without political interference and that any concerns should be addressed through constructive dialogue between the state and the Centre. Ultimately, the people of Tamil Nadu will judge the DMK's actions and statements on delimitation. It is crucial for politicians to prioritise the state's interests and work towards its progress rather than engage in divisive politics. Row erupts in Kerala about Bharat Mata portrait at Raj Bhavan during official event
A political row has erupted in Kerala after the state government boycotted an event at the Raj Bhavan on Thursday, objecting to a portrait of Bharat Mata on display there, The Indian Express reported. The state government claimed that the Bharat Mata portrait at the central hall of the governor's residence was 'one that is used by RSS [Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh]'. Bharat Mata is a personification of India as a mother goddess. The iconography is widely used by Hindu nationalists, and is frequently criticised for propagating a Hindu-centric image of nationhood. The incident took place during an event organised by the state agriculture department for World Environment Day at the Raj Bhavan on Thursday, with Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar as the chief guest, according to The Indian Express. During a review of the preparations for the event, government officials noticed that a picture of the Bharat Mata displayed at the central hall of the governor's residence was similar to the one used by the RSS. Subsequently, Communist Party of India leader and state Agriculture Minister P Prasad was notified about the image and event was moved to the darbar hall of the state secretariat, The Indian Express reported. The Communist Party of India is part of the state's ruling Left Democratic Front. 'The picture of Bharat Mata displayed at the venue is one that is used by RSS,' the newspaper quoted Prasad as having told reporters. 'A seat of a constitutional body should not use that. Constitutionally, it is not proper to use that picture at a government function.' Prasad claimed that Arlekar insisted on using the image. 'But we could not agree with that decision,' the minister said. 'So the government function was shifted out of Raj Bhavan.' The Communist Party of India leader noted that no image of Bharat Mata had ever been acknowledged as the official or authorised version by the Constitution or any of the governments in power since independence, The Hindu reported. The minister also claimed that the Bharat Mata image in the Raj Bhavan did not carry an Indian flag, but that of a political organisation, and hence could not be honoured during a government event. The governor, addressing another function at the Raj Bhavan later in the day, noted that Prasad wanted the image of the Bharat Mata to be removed from the stage. 'I informed them that we cannot remove Bharat Mata,' The Indian Express quoted him as having said. 'Bharat Mata cannot be kept away…Whatever be the pressure from whichever quarters, there will be no compromise whatsoever on Bharat Mata.' On Saturday, the Communist Party of India hoisted the national flag and planted saplings in protest against the usage of the Bharat Mata image in the Raj Bhavan, PTI reported. Communist Party of India leader Binoy Viswam also asked whether the Constitution or the policies of the RSS was more important for Arelkar. Hoisting the national flag, Viswam said that there was 'no Bharat Mata other than this'. Any other attempt to impose another concept of Bharat Mata was 'unconstitutional' and 'anti-national', he added.
