A former police sergeant has been dismissed for gross misconduct.Devon and Cornwall Police said this week a panel found Tim Perrin had breached standards of professional behaviour relating to his reply to a notice of intended prosecution after a speeding offence in his private vehicle.After a two-day hearing, a gross misconduct panel found Mr Perrin's actions had been "deliberately misleading for personal gain representing a lack of integrity and undermining public confidence in the police service".The police said a full report from the panel chair would be submitted to the force "in due course", provided to Mr Perrin and published on the force's website.

Bandmates Naoise O Caireallain and JJ O Dochartaigh have supported O hAnnaidh. They said at court: 'For anybody going to Glastonbury, you can see us there at 4pm on Saturday. 'If you can't be there we'll be on the BBC. Most importantly: free, free Palestine.' The BBC last night faced pressure not to air Kneecap's set, after Tory leader Kemi Badenoch said: 'It should not be rewarding extremism.' A spokesman for the broadcaster said: 'Decisions on our output will be made in the lead up to the festival.'

Horror as woman, 19, sexually assaulted in alleyway as man, 43, arrested & cops launch probe
COPS have launched a probe after a 19-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in an alleyway in a busy city centre. Police confirmed that a 43-year-old man had been arrested after the "serious" attack on the teenager in Nottingham City Centre last night. 2 2 A cordon was in place overnight after the horror unfolded in an alley on Canal Street just before 8pm on Friday. Investigations into the daylight assault remain ongoing and the victim is being supported by specially trained officers. Detective Inspector Amy Revill said: "We take reports of sexual offences and violence against women and girls extremely seriously. "We are now investigating this incident and we need to urgently hear from anyone with information. "This incident happened in a busy area of the city and in daylight, so we are hopeful that witnesses come forward." Nottinghamshire Police has appealed for anyone with more information on the attack to come forward. A statement released by the force this morning said: "Police are investigating a serious sexual assault that took place in an alleyway in Canal Street just before 8pm on Friday, June 20. "A 43-year-old man has been arrested and taken into custody. "The victim, a 19-year-old woman, is being supported by staff specifically trained to support victims of sexual offences. "A cordon remains in place at the scene. "Anyone with information should call 101, quoting incident 807 of June 20 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

Man dies after early hours incident at Stoke-on-Trent property
A man has died following an early hours incident at a house in Stoke-on-Trent. Staffordshire Police said it was called to reports of a person with a large bladed weapon on Cope's Avenue in Tunstall at about 02:30 BST on Saturday. Officers later gained access to the property and found a man in his 20s who was unresponsive, a force statement added. It is not known how he died, but detectives do not believe anybody else was involved. Paramedics attended and attempted CPR but the man inside the home was declared dead at the scene. An investigation will now review the circumstances leading up to his death, the force added. Anybody with information has been asked to contact police.
