Gogglebox viewers issue same complaint minutes in as Celebrity spin-off returns

Channel 4 hit show Celebrity Celebrity left fans unimpressed just minutes into the first episode as new famous duos took to the sofa to share their views on the latest telly Viewers were left feeling unimpressed just moments into the new season of Gogglebox, criticising the show's format change. The Channel 4 favourite, known for featuring regular mates and households commenting on the week's prime telly offerings and movies, took a different turn on Friday (June 6) night with the reappearance of a star-studded version. ‌ Celebrity Gogglebox made its comeback with fresh high-profile names settling in to view a selection of well-liked shows, including telly legends Paddy McGuinness, Vernon Kay and broadcasting duo Clare Balding with Alice Arnold joining the series. ‌ Fan-favourites like television host Rylan Clark alongside his mum Linda and broadcast journalist Nick Grimshaw with his niece Liv came back for more sofa critiques. Fresh faces were also spotted among the cast, such as TV star Vicky Pattison and The Only Way Is Essex personality Pete Wicks, reports the Manchester Evening News. Highlights for the celebs included programmes like Race Across the World, Faking It, Celebrity Bridge of Lies, Silence Is Golden, Big Zuu and AJ Tracey's Rich Flavours, Canal Boat Diaries, and ITV News - Trump and Musk. Nonetheless, viewers at home didn't reserve their comments on the celebrity take of the show, stating that this edition seemed a bit too 'forced'. Disgruntled opinions quickly poured in via X, previously known as Twitter, with one individual posting: "Not the dreaded celebrities again, so many of them are so annoying #Celebritygogglebox." ‌ One viewer ranted: "We watch normal #Gogglebox because it's hilarious and we love all the families. #celebritygogglebox is not funny and we couldn't care less about the celebs. It's just people watching telly." Another added their two pence, saying: "Celebrity Gogglebox just isn't funny like the original, it feels forced! #gogglebox #Celebritygogglebox." ‌ Yet, not everyone was against the concept as a fan expressed enthusiasm: "#Celebritygogglebox #Gogglebox 1st minute and we see Alex Scott and Jess Glynn. I'm already into this series, I hope we get to see the Eubanks too, TV gold are Chris and Junior." Meanwhile, Rylan has recently spilled the beans on his mum's TV future amid calls from fans for the mother-son pair to star in their own show. Chatting with the Daily Star, he revealed: "We've been offered hundreds of things. We got asked to do a travel show and the chance to go here and go there." He continued, explaining his mum's situation: "It would be hilarious, but she's just not well enough to do it. Gogglebox is enough for us. She feels comfortable doing that show because we're just sat in my kitchen." Celebrity Gogglebox is available to watch and stream on Channel 4

Loose Women's Kaye Adams hints at major life change after saying 'I lost my job'

Loose Women star Kaye Adams has opened up about the impact of the ITV daytime cuts, saying she may have to move into a one-bedroom flat after "losing her job" Kaye Adams from Loose Women has hinted at the possibility of downsizing to a one-bedroom flat after joking about "losing her job" on the hit ITV programme. Last month, ITV revealed major shake-ups in their daytime TV line-up, resulting in the loss of over 220 jobs and cutbacks to popular shows such as Loose Women and Lorraine. ‌ The broadcasting schedule now sees Loose Women airing for only 30 weeks per year, with Lorraine Kelly's programme also reduced to a half-hour format. ‌ In a significant shift, Good Morning Britain will be produced by ITV News at ITN instead of ITV Studios, extending its broadcast from 6am to 9.30am every day. Despite the changes, ITV Studios will continue producing This Morning, Lorraine, and Loose Women, which are set to air from a new central London location, reports Glasgow Live. On her How to be 60 podcast alongside Karen MacKenzie, the 62 year old presenter discussed the potential need for drastic lifestyle adjustments following the network's announcement. Adams shared: "I agreed ages to do this programme called Yorkshire Auction House, the whole thing is they get people like me who are ready to get rid of big bits of furniture, downsize and they take them to an auction house and they sell them off and they film it." Kaye Adams revealed she hasn't told her partner Ian that a film crew will be arriving at their home to collect various items she's given away, saying: "They're coming tomorrow with the truck apparently and I haven't told Ian. For the last week, I keep trying to start the conversation with him 'by the way, there's a film crew coming and I've told them that they can have that sideboard, that chair and that desk. ‌ "I was deliberating about the baby grand piano, but if I move into a smaller place I don't know where I'm going to put it. And now I've lost my job, I might be in a one-bedroom flat somewhere." The presenter previously told the podcast that the cuts "came out of the blue "and that she had suffered a few "sleepless nights". She said: "I didn't anticipate it, which is probably stupid in retrospect. You get into a sort of rhythm of life." The situation led to a few restless nights, with Kaye explaining: "I had a couple of sleepless nights I have to say, because it's just like the rug's been pulled from under your feet – what has been familiar." ‌ Despite the challenges, Kaye tried to find a positive perspective: "It's going to have an impact. Lots of people will lose their jobs completely which is terrible. It's a huge change. But I gave myself a talking to and I listened to my own advice for once – change is hard, but it can be good." She continued to focus on looking forward, rather than dwelling on the past: "The past is a trap, don't fear the future – I'm telling myself all these things. And maybe this is the nudge that I needed to make some changes in my life and I'll just have to go with it." ‌ Meanwhile, Kaye's Loose Women colleague Nadia Sawalha also voiced her disapproval of the cuts, describing them as "absolutely brutal" to production staff and completely "out of the blue". Speaking on her YouTube channel, Nadia praised the success of Loose Women and the Lorraine show, hitting out at what she described as "misogynistic" talk concerning recent cuts. The star said: "What people don't realise at Loose Women is that we're self-employed, I am self-employed. Every contract is a new contract. "I could be let go tomorrow, I could be let go in five years, you don't know because we're not employees. "What's been brutal, absolutely brutal, over the last week, honestly I feel tearful about it, is that hundreds of people... are going to be made redundant out of the blue, these are all the people behind the scenes that support us in every way."

David Beckham set to be awarded a knighthood in King's Birthday Honours

Former England football captain David Beckham is to be awarded a knighthood in the King's Birthday Honours, ITV News understands. The full list is due to be released next week and Beckham, who made 115 appearances for his country, is expected to be on it. Beckham has undertaken multiple charitable endeavours outside of football, including working with Unicef and the King's Foundation. He began his career at Manchester United, winning the treble of Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League trophies in 1999. He then moved to Real Madrid in 2003 where his global stardom hit new heights. He also played for LA Galaxy, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain in a wide ranging career. Beckham was awarded an OBE in 2003 and has long been touted as a recipient of a knighthood. Beckham played a key role in securing the Olympic Games for London in 2012 and speculation that Beckham was in line for a knighthood grew after he announced his retirement from football in 2013. In 2014 it was reported that Beckham was on the verge of receiving a knighthood but HM Revenue and Customs placed a red flag on his nomination due to his involvement in an alleged tax avoidance scheme. In 2017 a series of leaked emails appeared to show Beckham criticising the honours system and honours committee. Beckham said these emails were "hacked", "doctored" and "private". Beckham is a Goodwill Ambassador for Unicef and launched the David Beckham Unicef fund in 2015. He joined the King's Foundation as an ambassador in 2024, working for the King's charity to further their education programme. If the knighthood goes through Beckham would take on the title of Sir and his wife, former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham - who herself already holds an OBE - would become Lady Beckham.
