Channel 4 reaches new agreement to cover Crufts until 2029
Channel 4 has announced it will continue to broadcast the Crufts dog show until 2029.
The new agreement, covering 2026 to 2029, extends the broadcaster's relationship with the famous dog show to almost two decades, having first aired coverage in 2010.
The show, which is celebrating its 75th year of being broadcast, began on Thursday.
Channel 4's coverage is hosted by Clare Balding, who is joined by regular Crufts reporter Radzi Chinyanganya and two new presenters, Paralympian swimmer Ellie Simmonds and former professional rugby player Ed Jackson.
The broadcast will include events such as flyball, agility, heelwork to music, The Kennel Club Hero Dog Award and the best in show – Crufts' top honour.
More than 200 pedigree breeds from 51 different counties will compete for the title, according to Channel 4, which will be awarded live on the channel on March 9.
Last year, an Australian shepherd named Viking from Solihull, Birmingham, beat 24,000 dogs from around the world to win best in show.
Channel 4's head of sports, Pete Andrews, said: 'Crufts is a truly unique event and has a very special place in the hearts of Channel 4 viewers and we're delighted that Channel 4 will continue our relationship with The Kennel Club and the producers of our Crufts coverage, Sunset+Vine.'
Jannine Edgar, chief executive of The Kennel Club, said: 'We have enjoyed fantastic coverage with Channel 4 over the last 15 years and are delighted to continue our partnership for the next four years.
'Channel 4 has provided The Kennel Club with more airtime for Crufts than ever before, helping us to show the important role dogs play in our lives.'
Crufts takes place over four days and has been held at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC), Birmingham since 1991.
It was first televised in 1950 by the BBC and was live-streamed in 2009 after the broadcaster dropped the show.
Organiser of Crufts, The Kennel Club, is a UK organisation devoted to dog health, welfare and training.
Viewers will be able to watch Crufts on Channel 4, More4 and on Channel 4 streaming from March 6 to 9.

Asked for his thoughts on Postecoglou's sacking after the Netherlands' 8-0 thrashing of Malta, Van de Van told Voetbal Zone: 'That was ultimately a choice from the club. 'We, as players, have little to say about that. Of course, he is the first coach in a long time who has won a trophy has had success at Spurs. So if you look at it that way, it is of course a strange choice. 'It is a choice from the club about which we have little to say, so we will see what happens now.' Van de Ven admits it looks likely that Frank will be named as Postecoglou's replacement in due course. 'Of course, we see some rumours about the Brentford head coach, who it will probably be,' he added. 'So yes, a choice from the club about which we have little to say.' The Dutch centre-back believes Tottenham players must accept much of the responsibility for their 17th-placed finish which led to Postecoglou being fired. 'I think many of the players got along with him well and, of course, what I say is that he is the first coach who has brought success to Spurs in a long time,' he continued. 'What we have shown in the Premier League is, of course, unacceptable. That would, of course, have been a factor, but that was not only down to the coach.' The leading candidate to replace Postecoglou, Frank, is said to be eager to push through a switch to north London and has reportedly told the club to make Bryan Mbeumo their first summer signing. But Mbeumo is also attracting strong interest from Manchester United this summer, with the Red Devils lodging a second offer worth more than £60m for the Cameroon forward in recent days. BBC star comes clean on Nick Kyrgios feud and Wimbledon row – ‘Embarrassed me'
Nick Kyrgios was a hit in the commentary box during Wimbledon last year – but the Australian has reportedly been left off the BBC's broadcast team for the upcoming tournament Andrew Castle has shed light on his rumoured frosty relations with Nick Kyrgios, who previously labelled the seasoned Wimbledon commentator a "clown." Despite being a fan-favourite in the commentary booth last summer, Kyrgios is not expected to return to the BBC's coverage of this year's tournament at SW19. The outspoken Australian, often dubbed the 'bad boy' of tennis, temporarily traded his racket for a microphone in 2024 after an injury forced him out of action. Ongoing fitness concerns have ruled him out again this year, but the BBC has decided against re-inviting him to the panel, according to The Telegraph. That means viewers won't see a repeat of last year's pre-tournament friction between him and Castle, 61, with the action set to get underway on June 30. Still, the former British No. 1 has downplayed any talk of animosity, suggesting their feud was in fact exaggerated. "I didn't have any tense encounters and nor did he," Castle told The Express, via Globusbet. "Nick said something on Twitter about me and he got told that it's not the way to be." Kyrgios, never shy about voicing his thoughts, caused a stir during the 2023 Wimbledon final between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic. Using X (formerly known as Twitter), he slammed Castle for allegedly interrupting the commentary too frequently and accused him of failing to remain quiet during key moments. "Whoever is the clown next to [Todd] Woodbridge in that commentator box needs to just not speak, spoiling the match big time," Kyrgios posted. Castle, who later labelled Kyrgios the "golden boy" of clickbait, admitted he felt "embarrassed" after reading the comment but didn't dwell on it. "I said to him that he embarrassed me there and he said, 'Oh mate.' That was it," Castle recalled. "I stand by what I said about where we were in the match he commented on. Nick said something online and there's so much attention on Wimbledon and on his Twitter feed that people make something up that isn't there." Their verbal sparring continued into the following year. While working alongside Castle on the BBC team, Kyrgios slammed him again, calling him "disrespectful" for his commentary on a showdown between Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz – a match highlighted more by booming serves than extended rallies. During that broadcast, Castle remarked: "You can't say it's been the most captivating tennis, to be frank." Kyrgios responded swiftly on social media. "'Not captivating' – was a comment from a commentator who is doing the Zverev and Fritz match," he wrote. "This alone tells me that they have probably never played tennis at a high level. Two of the most elite servers we have. Quite disrespectful. C'mon be better." Castle, once again, chose not to take the post personally. He even complimented Kyrgios for his contributions in the commentary box, praising his natural communication skills and knowledge of the sport. "I like working with Nick, he did a great job at last year's final," Castle said. "It was my 21st final and he slotted right in with Tim [Henman] and I – his delivery is really good for tennis. "He picks things up, knows when to speak and obviously knows what he is talking about so that was great. We talked a little bit about being careful [with what he posts online] and he said, 'Sure, it's over.' So that's it." Though Kyrgios has never captured a Grand Slam title, he came closest at Wimbledon in 2022, advancing to the final before losing to Djokovic in four sets. That match is perhaps best remembered for Kyrgios' infamous "700 drinks" tirade aimed at a spectator he said was distracting him. Since then, he has struggled with recurring injuries, appearing in only two Grand Slams over the last three seasons. His comeback at the Australian Open this January ended quickly with a straight-sets loss to British up-and-comer Jacob Fearnley in round one.

The five-year-old was sold to Yulong Investments last month, shortly after recording his third Grade One victory for trainer Chad Brown in the Maker's Mark Mile at Keeneland. Now with Australian handler Ciaron Maher, Carl Spackler will make his yard debut in the opening event of the Royal meeting, with William Bourne, Maher's bloodstock manager, acknowledging the course as a key obstacle for the Lope De Vega horse to overcome. A stiff mile at Ascot is probably the biggest ask coming from America, I think that will be his biggest challenge in handling that. 'It would be amazing (to win). It's pretty unique to purchase a horse in America, to be trained by an Australian and run at Royal Ascot, but the long-term plan is to bring him out for the Cox Plate, so we'd be thrilled to get this on the way through.' Carl Spackler was put through his paces on Newmarket's July course on Wednesday morning, with Jamie Spencer in the saddle, although top Australian jockey James McDonald will be in the plate on Tuesday. Bourne said: 'We came here wanting to have a hit out. That's his second gallop since he's been here in Newmarket, he came in with good condition, a very healthy horse from Chad Brown and after the feedback from Jamie Spencer on his first gallop, he needed a good hit out so coming here today, he got that and that's exactly what we wanted to achieve. 'He's done it really nicely and Jamie said when he gave him a little squeeze late on, he really exploded and he was pretty impressed by how much he'd switched on from his first to his second gallop. It's obviously not an easy task for us, but the horse looks fit and well.' McDonald is no stranger to Royal Ascot success, having ridden three winners at the fixture in 2022, and has enjoyed plenty of big-race wins for Yulong, not least with ex-British runner Via Sistina who he has steered to six Group One wins since her transfer to Australia. Bourne said: 'James is great, obviously he's had a lot of luck with the colours on with Via Sistina and he's had winners at Royal Ascot before. He's a great fit for the owners, they wanted him and it's a great to have a world-class jockey on your horse in a Group One. 'He's Yulong's main rider in Australia and if 'J-Mac' was available, we were very happy to use him. 'James is happy to come over and ride the horse, I was chatting to him last week, he's watched his tapes and is getting very excited about the horse. He didn't know who he was and I got a very bland response, but after watching the tapes and having a look at the horse, he's very excited and upbeat.' Winner of eight of his 12 starts in America, although Carl Spackler has the Cox Plate, Australia's premier weight-for-age race, firmly on his agenda in the autumn, should he run well at Ascot, he might yet have a second British start. Bourne added: 'We'll play it by ear, we're going to look at Goodwood as an option but his ultimate goal will be the Cox Plate, so we will see how he runs on Tuesday and go from there. He's obviously a quality horse and there will be plenty of options for him.'
