Cristiano Ronaldo 's mother proudly watched on from the sidelines as her grandson warmed up before being named on the bench for Portugal's U15s clash against Japan on Tuesday.
Cristiano Ronaldo Jr trained with Portugal's youth ranks for the first time this week and will hope to come on to make his first appearance for the U15s side in Croatia.
The 14-year-old youngster, who plays for the youth academy of his father's Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr, is eligible to represent a host of nations including Spain and the USA.
Although he will not officially commit his future to a country until he makes a senior appearance at international level, it looks as though Ronaldo Jr is favouring Portugal after being called up for their youth side, following in his father's footsteps.
Manchester United and Real Madrid legend Ronaldo, 40, represented the Portugal U15s on nine occasions in 2001 before quickly accelerating through the youth ranks.
He went on to become Portugal's all-time leading goalscorer with 136 goals from 219 appearances, winning the European Championship in 2016 and Nations League in 2019.
Keen to witness her family continue the legacy, Ronaldo's mother Maria Dolores watched on from the sidelines as her grandson geared up for the match, which is part of the Vlatko Markovic tournament staged in Croatia.
Smiling as he trained and warmed up with team-mates, she was pictured sporting Ronaldo's iconic 2010 World Cup jersey.
With the Al-Nassr superstar set to retire in the next few years, there will be plenty of pressure on Ronaldo Jr's shoulders to follow in his father's footsteps once the baton is passed over fully.
The young striker, affectionally known as Cristianinho, was one of 22 teenagers who were listed to feature at the tournament by manager Joao Santos.
During an earlier training session with Portugal's U15s this week, Ronaldo Jr was spotted wearing CR7 Nike Mercurials as well as Kylian Mbappe's latest Nike boots.
Before impressing at Al-Nassr, the 14-year-old was previously a part of the youth academies at Real Madrid, Juventus and Manchester United — all of his father's former teams.
Despite turning 40 in February, the Ballon d'Or winner has admitted in the past he would like to play on the same pitch as his son.
The veteran player said recently: 'I would like it, I would like it. It's not something that keeps me awake at night but we'll see.'
He added: ' It's more in his hands than mine. The years are starting to go by and one day I'll have to let it go. There will come a time when it is no longer possible. Not only physically but also psychologically.'
Speaking about his son's footballing future to Portuguese newspaper Record he added: 'He will follow his path, his career. I will be a proud father, I will be proud of what he wants to do.
'If he plays, 'top'. If he doesn't play, we tried. At least his father tried. But it won't be a problem either, in my opinion.'

John Textor provides another twist in Crystal Palace ownership saga
The Crystal Palace ownership saga has taken another twist with the club's largest shareholder, John Textor, listing his holding company Eagle Football for an initial public offering in the US. Textor's multi-club operation, which also owns majority shares in Lyon and Botafogo, has submitted a draft registration statement to the US Securities and Exchange Commission. An IPO is when a private company first sells shares to the public. Eagle documents seen by the Guardian show that the company has made a confidential S-1 filing, with institutional investors invited to buy shares in it. Neither the volume nor prices of the shares to be listed has been made public. Eagle has sustained heavy losses in recent years largely due to its big spending at Lyon, rather than Palace. Textor first announced plans for an Eagle IPO, which would be the first conducted by a multi-club football group, with a company valuation of $2bn (£1.47bn) last November, but the timing of the listing is curious given his involvement in sale talks at Palace, and the uncertainty over whether the club will be allowed to compete in the Europa League next season. Textor declined to comment or discuss his intentions. Lyon have also qualified for the competition and Uefa rules prevent clubs with the same owners both taking part. As previously revealed by the Guardian, Uefa has rejected an offer by Textor to put his 44.9% stake in Palace into a blind trust as he missed the 1 March deadline, and the American has since stepped up his efforts to sell. The Guardian reported on Thursday that the New York Jets owner, Woody Johnson, has offered £190m to buy Textor's shares in a move that would be welcomed by the club chairman, Steve Parish, although that price is believed to be considerably short of his valuation. A consortium including NBA star Jimmy Butler and investment company Sportsbank has also made an offer. Textor's preference would be to sell to fellow shareholders Josh Harris and David Blitzer, who each own 18% of the club, but despite months of negotiations they have been unable to agree on a price. Textor has spent around £180m on Palace since buying an initial 40% stake for £87m four years ago, with his investment crucial to the redevelopment of the club's training ground and funding numerous player purchases, and is reluctant to sell at a big loss. Palace have expressed confidence they will be cleared by Uefa to take part in the Europa League on the grounds that Textor does not have a 'decisive influence' at the club, and if they are thrown out are likely to appeal to the court of arbitration for sport. Uefa made renewed contact with Palace seeking clarification on elements of their submissions last week, which the club have interpreted as a positive sign. In a potentially worrying development for Palace, Drogheda United were expelled from the Conference League last week due to multi-club issues. Alexander Zverev delivered a light-hearted, X-rated jibe at rival Taylor Fritz after their clash on Sunday afternoon. The German suffered his fifth consecutive defeat against American star Fritz, who clinched the Stuttgart Open title after a 6-3, 7-6 win. Evidently, Zverev's poor record against his rival was playing on his mind as he delivered a post-match speech, where he jokingly took aim at Fritz. Speaking on court, Zverev said: 'Taylor, I'm f***ing tired of you. I don't wanna see you again over the next 2 to 3 years. 'Please stay away from me. Don't come to Germany anymore'. While Fritz and Zverev have clashed on the court numerous times over the years, the same can also be said for the German star and his rival's girlfriend, Morgan Riddle. It was after the five-set thriller at Wimbledon last year that Zverev expressed displeasure over the noise coming from Fritz's box, where his girlfriend Morgan Riddle was seated. Adding to the intrigue was a curious social media post from Riddle that many saw as a reference to 2020 domestic abuse claims against Zverev - which he denied. A social media influencer who has 17.2million likes on TikTok, Riddle has since deleted an Instagram video that included the caption: 'when your man wins 4 the girls.' She had posted a picture of the court to her story and wrote, 'cheer loud ladies.' That post was also taken down. After that match, Fritz sat down for an interview with The Tennis Channel and shed light on the feud - following a discussion with Zverev on court. He explained: 'I think he was a little upset about my team members cheering for me when he was injured but he said: "It's nothing to do with you. You're all good..." Whatever, it's all good.' Zverev said afterwards that he was upset with some people in Fritz's box who 'may not be from the tennis world.' 'His team is extremely respectful. I think his coach, his physio, also his second coach, they're extremely respectful,' Zverev said. 'I think there's some other people that maybe are in the box that are not maybe from the tennis world, that are not maybe from particularly watching every single match. They were a bit over the top.' Zverev agreed to pay around $240,000, last year, in a June settlement with his accuser, the mother of his child, but was not convicted of any crime and maintains his innocence. The ATP investigated the claims (via an outside firm) for 15 months but ultimately did not discipline Zverev on the basis of insufficient evidence. Following his settlement in June, Zverev said 'I told you so from the start, I told everybody. I'm happy that it's over. Yeah, nothing else more to say.' Meanwhile, after Fritz knocked Zverev out in New York with a four-set victory to reach the US Open semifinals last year, Riddle took to social media to celebrate the victory. She shared a video from Arthur Ashe taking in the full surroundings and, alongside three nail polish emojis, wrote: 'Semi finalsssss'.
