EDGE signs agreement with ADG Mobility to manufacture specialised land systems equipment in UAE

ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)TRUST, an entity of EDGE and a keystone of national security and defence capability that delivers top-tier equipment, advanced technologies and unparalleled services, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ADG Mobility, a South Africa-based company specialising in the production of protected vehicles, subsystems, and components.The agreement was announced during the Make It in the Emirates forum, taking place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from May 19 to 22.Under the MoU, the two parties will establish a strategic framework for future collaboration on the design, development, and manufacturing of specialised land systems equipment, including specialised vehicles, in the UAE.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Jasem Alzaabi, Vice President of Business Development (Trading & Mission Support) – EDGE, and Dr. Stefan Nell, Chief Executive Officer of ADG Mobility, in the presence of Dr. Abdulmunem Alshehhi, Chief Operations Officer – TRUST, and Syed Haroon, Manager of Engineering and Development - TRUST.

UAE, Kuwait sign multiple agreements to boost cooperation
The UAE and Kuwait have signed a comprehensive set of agreements aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation across sectors including AI, health, energy, education, defence and diplomacy. The agreements were formalised at Kuwait's Bayan Palace during the official visit of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court of the UAE. Additionally, Kuwait Real Estate Company, through its subsidiary IFA Hotels and Resorts, signed a AED198 million contract with UAE-based Darwish Engineering to execute infrastructure works for the Al Tay Hills residential project in Sharjah. Another agreement saw Kuwait Investment Authority joining the Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure Partnership along with MGX, BlackRock, Global Infrastructure Partners, and Microsoft, to boost AI infrastructure investment. The newly signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) also cover health, diplomacy, road and land transport infrastructure, social development, advanced technology, education, oil and gas, energy and investment. Several MoUs also address cooperation in combating human trafficking, legal cooperation, data protection and information exchange in joint security initiatives. These agreements reflect a shared commitment to expanding bilateral relations and fostering sustainable economic and technological development in both countries.

South Africa: Young entrepreneurs get a boost with new exporter incubation programme
The Next-Gen Exporter Incubation Programme - aimed at equipping young entrepreneurs with the exporting skills, resources and support they need to become successful first-time exporters – has been launched by the Department of Trade, Industry, and Competition (Dtic). Speaking at the virtual launch, the Dtic's acting deputy director-general of exports, Willem van der Spuy, described the programme as a high-impact, 12-month intervention targeting youth-led enterprises with demonstrated export potential. Van der Spuy said the programme is specifically tailored for the alumni of the Entrepreneurship Development in Higher Education (EDHE) programme. 'At its core, this programme aims to cultivate an export culture among student and youth-owned businesses, enabling them to seize opportunities in global markets and contribute to inclusive economic growth,' he explained. The Dtic and the Universities South Africa (USAf) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the EDHE programme to foster collaboration in promoting entrepreneurship and export development among student and youth-owned businesses. Van der Spuy believes the incubation programme represents a bold step forward in realising the shared vision of building a pipeline of globally competitive, youth-led enterprises. In addition, participants will gain access to expert mentorship and technical advice, training on export readiness and compliance, support in meeting international standards and certification requirements, and tools to develop market entry and export marketing strategies, among others. The programme also affords emerging exporters an opportunity to benefit from strategic trade frameworks such as the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the European Union, and cross-border e-commerce. Special emphasis will be placed on digital trade and digital platform solutions to expand global reach. The director of export development and support, responsible for the delivery of the Next-Gen Exporter Incubation Programme at the Dtic, Kwanele Mkhwanazi encouraged youth-owned business owners to apply for the first intake of the programme.
