Kesari Chapter 2's plot overview
The plot follows lawyer C. Sankaran Nair as he takes on the British Empire in court after the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Determined to expose the truth behind the brutal killings, Nair files a case in London, accusing the British of orchestrating a state-backed atrocity. With help from young lawyer Dilreet Gill, he gathers suppressed evidence while facing threats, political pushback, and a biased legal system.
The film builds to a tense courtroom showdown against British official Neville McKinley. Though the verdict doesn't bring justice to the victims, Nair's bold stand forces the world to confront the Empire's brutality. His legal fight becomes a turning point in India's freedom movement, proving that even in the face of power, truth can make history.
Kesari Chapter 2's review
The Times of India rated the movie 3 out of 5, and a part of their review read, 'The recreation of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre tugs at your heartstrings, the injustice fuels your anger, and the legal battle keeps you hooked. The tragic Jallianwala Bagh massacre is a well-documented chapter in history. Yet, this deep dive into the lesser-known case that shook the Empire makes for an incredible tale. Its gripping narrative and stellar performances make it a must-watch fare.'

Karan Johar says the biggest issue of Bollywood is ‘herd mentality': Everybody wants to make horror comedies
Karan Johar thinks several people in the film industry are trying to emulate a success story to capitalise on the audience's interest and make their own films work. However, that is not going to work. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, when Karan was asked what is currently the biggest issue that is plaguing Bollywood, Karan said it is 'herd mentality' and went on to explain his point. (Also read: Karan Johar says he wants his kids Yash and Roohi to be like Shah Rukh Khan's kids Aryan Khan, Suhana Khan: Here's why) During the interaction, Karan said, 'I think it is everybody grappling to do what others are doing. We see Pushpa running and catering so strongly to the tier-2 and tier-3 audiences, suddenly, we will see 20 others wanting to do the same. You see Chhaava working, everybody would want to make historicals. Stree and everybody wants to make horror comedies. Those worked because they were individually strong, and there was no other option in that genre. It was a unique thought that made those films work. ' He went on to add, 'We all need to have individual thoughts that are unique to ourselves. Someone asked me the other day, 'Do you have a universe?' I was like, 'As in?' They were like, 'A spy universe or a cop universe.' I was like, 'My universe is cinema itself.' I am not here to build universes, I am here to tell stories. In that story if there's a universe, then why not?' Karan was recently at the Cannes Film Festival for the premiere of his film Homebound, a film that was backed by his banner Dharma Productions. Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, the film stars Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa and Janhvi Kapoor.

An ode to the first RCB member: Vijay Mallya
The 2000s were a strange but delightful decade. The country was witnessing the first benefits of liberalisation, privatisation, and globalisation. Before Elon Musk even began his business, Vijay Mallya was the first celebrity businessman India ever had. The traditional idea of Indian businessmen was to be humble, charitable, and never appear in front of the media. Mallya took those rules and poured champagne all over them. Magazines would sell with him on the cover. Media channels flocked to get a byte from him, or entry into his now legendary parties. My first flight was on Kingfisher Airlines, and my first beer was a Kingfisher. For a nation that was defined as a 'third world country', Mallya gave us glimpses into India stumbling onto the world's stage. He bought an F1 company long before Netflix made it cool. He bought Tipu Sultan's sword back from the British. For a young Hriday, he signified aspiration. He was the King of Good Times. And I resolved to work my way up in life to at least become a Minister of Good Times! For an outsider like me, Bengaluru stood for the city of gentlemanly cricketers, lush greenery, and gentle, educated people. Mallya taught the city how to party. It is a divine coincidence that RCB inherited some of Mallya's flashy traits. Humongous events, brand partnerships, and glitzy kits. Like Mallya's business choices, RCB also fumbled for a few years. Unlike the Vijay Mallya story, RCB found its redemption arc. The team was ridiculed, mocked, and written off – only to return in style to claim the riches. While RCB will always have its die-hard fans who have transferred their love to the next generation – the Vijay Mallya story is still mired in legal troubles. But as a victorious Bengaluru reached out to veterans like AB de Villiers, my thoughts went out to Vijay Mallya. When RCB won, he put out a video with his hands raised – a muted, CSK sort of a celebration. But for an impressionable teenager who has now metamorphosed into a middle-aged man – it took me back to joy of flying for the first time, and thanking Vijay Mallya – for a fantastic experience, food, and the red plastic earphones that were bundled in for free. I wouldn't recommend drinking, but if you choose to indulge, I'd recommend raising a toast to Vijay Vittal Mallya – the exiled King of Good Times! (The writer's views are personal)
