'I owe a tremendous amount to Pompey'
Rob Atkinson says he will be "forever grateful" for the opportunity Portsmouth have given him this season and is desperate to help keep the club in the Championship. The 26-year-old, who has been on loan at Pompey from Bristol City since January, was heavily involved in the 2-2 draw with Derby on Saturday, scoring twice and also turning into his own net.His 91st-minute equaliser could yet prove to be a vital point for John Mousinho's side, who are four points clear of the relegation zone with four games to play."It's not done, I won't be happy until we're definitely safe and playing Championship football again next season," Atkinson told BBC Radio Solent."I feel the club owes me nothing and I owe a tremendous amount to the club because they took a big, big gamble on me and I'll forever be grateful for that."Atkinson missed the previous seven league games with injury and had been struggling with illness before the Derby game but came straight in to start at Fratton Park."I think that's just the way I am as a person but also as a professional footballer," he said."I'm not really your stereotypical academy brought up football player. I've done it the hard way and I see playing football as a bit of a blessing really. "I've been in relegation battles before. I know how to play in those sort of situations."If Portsmouth do stay up, Atkinson believes they have the ability to finish much higher up the table next season."I think this football club is going to be way better than that next season," he added. "They've got the nucleus, the core of players that are dangerous and will cause any defence - as we have this season - trouble."With a home record and a home ground like this... just need to fix that away form and you could be well up there."

However, it has now emerged that Birmingham chiefs have become frustrated over the delay to finalise a deal for Poku. Peterborough would be entitled to a tribunal fee for the winger whom they paid Colchester United an initial £250,000 for at the age of 19. Peterborough recently confirmed that Poku would not sign a new deal with the club and move on from the London Road stadium this summer. Speaking on his own podcast, Darragh MacAnthony, Peterborough's chairman, said: "Kwame probably won't go to the Premier League straight away, but he will get a high-end Championship club. He will be a Premier League star in the future and that next move will probably cost £30 million.'

It ended Frank's time at Brentford, where he won 136 of his 317 matches across a seven-year spell, with the Danish coach able to lead the club into the Premier League for the first time in 2021 via Championship play-off success at Wembley. A message from Thomas ✍ — Brentford FC (@BrentfordFC) June 13, 2025 In an emotional message posted on Brentford's official club website on Friday, Frank said: 'The time has come for me to move on. But, even as I leave, I know I have left a big piece of my heart at Brentford, not just at the football club but with the community and, of course, the incredible and loyal supporters. 'I want to extend my profound gratitude to the club for giving me the chance to pursue my dreams and for everyone involved who made the journey such a memorable one. 'For my family and I, it has been a privilege to be allowed to be part of such a special community – it's an experience and adventure that we will cherish for life. So, thank you. 'Whatever we have achieved, we have achieved together, and our success is built on unity, spirit, courage and ambition at every level of the club and amongst the fans. 'Everybody has contributed, and every contribution has been invaluable. I am not just leaving a football club, I am saying goodbye to friends whose support through good and bad times I will carry with me always. 'I would like to say a special word of thanks to Matthew Benham. His trust and friendship have meant so much and the fact he gave me a chance in English football means I will always owe him a debt of gratitude. Thank you, Matt. 'So, while this is a goodbye, I hope the relationships I have built with everybody will be lasting ones and, of course, we will meet again in the wonderful world of football. 'Thank you, Thomas.'
