Tests to find out speed at which SUV was driven after home guard falls off flyover in Faridabad

Faridabad: A day after a home guard was seriously injured in an accident involving an SUV on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, investigators are conducting a technical analysis of the vehicle to determine its actual speed. On Sunday, the SUV crashed into a police van that sent the city police home guard plummeting off a flyover onto a road 10 feet below near Badauli village. Deepak Kumar, who sustained serious head injuries, remains in critical condition in the ICU of Sarvodaya Hospital. At 7.45am, a black Mahindra Scorpio driven by a trainee pilot collided with the police interceptor van. The impact caused the police interceptor to crash into the flyover's boundary wall, resulting in the home guard falling onto the road below. While one constable, Deepak Kumar, was inside the van, Deepak was outside monitoring traffic speeds. Police found CCTV footage showing the cop falling from the flyover. The traffic constable was discharged after receiving treatment. Both officers are approximately 25 years old. An FIR was filed against her at BPTP police station under BNS sections for rash driving, endangering life, causing grievous hurt and obstructing public servants from performing their duties.

Faridabad teen girl's ‘joyride at over 100 kmph': SUV rams into police car, flings home guard off bridge

The Faridabad police Sunday arrested an 18-year-old after her speeding SUV allegedly hit a traffic police interceptor vehicle on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near the Badoli Bridge, injuring two police personnel and damaging equipment. A home guard was thrown off the bridge onto the service road approximately 25 feet below, said the police. The accident occurred around 8.15 am during a routine check and the police personnel were handing out challans to those overspending. According to the complaint filed by Traffic Constable Deepak, 25, the interceptor vehicle, a Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, was parked on the side of the expressway in accordance with the rules. Assistant Sub Inspector Narendra, 42, and Home Guard Deepak, 35, were also part of the team operating the interceptor when a green Mahindra Scorpio, driven by the accused, Kritika Garg, allegedly collided with the rear of their vehicle at high speed. Home Guard Deepak was flung off the bridge due to the impact of the collision, as per the complaint. The Scorpio's tyre burst after the collision, causing it to stop at the scene, and Garg provided her name and address when questioned, said the police. The impact severely damaged the interceptor's equipment, including an overspeed machine, laser DVR, battery monitor, printer, camera controller, and LED screen. Constable Deepak and Home Guard Deepak sustained serious injuries and were admitted to Sarvodaya Hospital. Home Guard Deepak's condition was critical, leading to his transfer to the intensive care unit, where doctors declared him unfit to give a statement. The complaint attributed the accident to Garg's negligent and high-speed driving, which, according to the police, obstructed government work. The police filed an FIR at the BPTP police station under sections 281, 125(A), 125(B), 324(4), 221, and 132 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), citing rash driving, causing hurt by negligence, mischief causing damage, obstructing a public servant, and assault to deter a public servant. 'The accused, Kritika Garg, stays in Sector 28 in Faridabad and was driving at over 100 km per hour when she lost control and hit the home guard. Constable Deepak also sustained injuries but is stable, while ASI Narender was treated for minor bruises. The accused was returning from a gaming parlour in Sector 12 and heading to Sector 86 with four of her friends on a joyride of sorts to celebrate clearing their Class 12 exams,' Station House Officer Inspector Arvind Kumar said. He added that she was released on station bail, and the car was registered in the name of her father, Manoj Kumar.

Faridabad: 18-year-old woman rams SUV into cop car, flings home guard off bridge

An 18-year-old woman was arrested on Sunday after her speeding SUV hit a stationary police interceptor vehicle on the Delhi-Mumbai expressway near Faridabad's Badoli bridge during a 'joyride', injuring a home guard and a constable, police said. The incident took place between 8.15am and 8.30am when a highway patrol unit in a Maruti Suzuki Ertiga was parked along the expressway to intercept speeding vehicles, police said. The team comprised an assistant sub-inspector, a constable, and a home guard, they added. Police said the accused, Kritika Garg of Sector 28 in Faridabad, was driving a black Mahindra Scorpio-N at 'over 100 km/h' when she lost control and hit home guard Deepak, 35, who was standing behind the Ertiga. The impact flung him off the bridge onto the service road 20–30 feet below, critically injuring him. He is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Faridabad, officers aware of the incident added. Constable Deepak, 25, who was inside the vehicle, sustained injuries but is stable, while ASI Narender, 42, escaped with minor bruises, police said. According to Arvind Kumar, station house officer of BPTP police station, Kritika was returning from a gaming zone in Sector 12. 'She was heading to Sector 86 with four friends, all of whom had just cleared Class 12 exams. The Scorpio is registered to her father,' Kumar added. An FIR under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including rash driving, causing grievous injury, and obstruction of duty, was registered at BPTP police station based on the constable's accused, who tested negative for intoxication in a medical examination, was arrested shortly after the incident and has since been released on bail, officers said.
