One dead after single vehicle crash in Lenawee County
ROME TWP, MICH (Fox 2) - At about 7 p.m. Feb. 15, Michigan State Police troopers were dispatched to the area of U.S. 223 near Woerner Road in Lenawee County for a single vehicle crash.
When troopers arrived at the scene, they found a white Dodge Caravan that had left the road and struck a tree while traveling eastbound. The 29-year-old driver was pronounced dead on the scene. His passenger, a 27-year-old woman, was taken to an area hospital.
Both people were from Waldron, a nearby city.
The woman is expected to survive.
Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash. This incident remains under investigation by the MSP Monroe Post and anyone having information about the incident is asked to contact Trooper Ryan Kalnbach at 734-242-3500.

He also faces two other misdemeanor charges and nine violations of the state's Liquid Industrial Waste law. 'Serious violations by businesses that endanger the health and well-being of Michigan residents and our environment cannot be tolerated,' . 'I am grateful to the talented prosecutors in my office, the dedicated experts from the Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy, Michigan State Police, the Genesee County Sheriff's Office, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, and detectives of the EGLE and DNR Environmental Investigation Section, who all played a significant role in advancing this case through the judicial process.' Missouri man crashes into Michigan State Police vehicle while under influence of drugs
The Brief An MSP trooper had someone pulled over on I-94 in Southwest Michigan when their vehicle was hit by a driver under the influence of drugs. The Missouri man was arrested. No injuries were reported. BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. (FOX 2) - Police say a man from Missouri was under the influence of drugs when he crashed into a Michigan State Police vehicle during a traffic stop Sunday night. According to MSP, a trooper had a vehicle pulled over on westbound I-94 near Mile Marker 25 in Berrian County's Lincoln Township when a man veered off the road and hit the patrol vehicle around 11:10 p.m. The trooper was standing outside the vehicle and was not hurt. No one else was injured, either, police said. Police discovered the 33-year-old suspect was under the influence of drugs and was arrested. Dig deeper Police said this is the second crash involving an MSP vehicle in the district, which encompasses Southwest Michigan, in a week. Michigan's Move Over law requires drivers to slow down and move over for police, fire, EMS, and road service workers, including tow trucks and MDOT courtesy vehicles that have their emergency lights activated. Video shows Missouri driver crashing into Michigan State Police cruiser on I-94
A Michigan State Police trooper walked away uninjured after his cruiser was struck during a traffic stop in Berrien County. The crash happened about 11:10 p.m. Saturday on Interstate 94 westbound, near mile marker 25 in Lincoln Township, according to the state police report. The trooper was standing outside his cruiser, handling a traffic stop detail, at the time. The driver who struck the patrol vehicle was a 33-year-old man from Missouri. He was westbound and veered off the road. A preliminary investigation showed he was operating the motor vehicle while under the influence of a controlled substance. He was arrested and taken to the Berrien County Jail. A second Michigan State Police officer who was en route to the scene witnessed the impact. A Michigan State Police cruiser was struck by another motorist during a traffic stop June 7, 2025, on Interstate 94 in Berrien County. Michigan State Police "This incident could have been a devastating tragedy for everyone involved, including the trooper," state police said. "As a reminder, driving under the influence of any intoxicating substance is illegal and deadly. If you plan to indulge, do so responsibly. Don't put the rest us in danger. Stay safe, be kind, and count your blessings." This was the second crash in a week involving a state police patrol vehicle in the MSP Fifth District that was struck while on a traffic assist. The other incident happened May 30, also on I-94, near mile marker 87.
