"Speak Marathi Or Won't Pay": Mumbai Couple Harasses Pizza Delivery Agent
For this Mumbai couple, the pizza was not enough, they also wanted the person delivering it to be able to speak to them in Marathi, a detail that they failed to mention when they placed the order, fanning the Hindi-Marathi language row.
The incident, which took place on Monday, was reported from Bhandup, a suburb of Mumbai.
Speak Marathi or no money was the message when the delivery agent, Rohit Lavere, landed at their door.
" Jabardasti hai Marathi bolne ka, par kyun (Is there a compulsion to speak in Marathi? But why?)," asked the man from Domino's, a popular pizza restaurant chain.
" Hai yahan pe aise hi (Yes, this is how it is here)," the woman shot back, an iron grille door separating the two.
" Kaun bola aise (Who has said this)," the man demanded to know.
" Nahi aata toh phir nahi order karne ka na. Nahi dena hai na paisa, haan thek hai, theek hai (If that was your precondition, then you should not have ordered. You don't want to pay, isn't it)," the delivery agent said, filming the conversation between the two.
" Mera video nahi nikalne ka, main tumhara video nikal sakti hoon (You cannot record me, while I can)," said the woman, prompting a sharp response from the delivery agent.
" Ye kaun sa jabardasti hai (What kind of compulsion is this)," he asked.
At this point, the man next to the woman decided to shut the door, when she intervened and started recording the whole thing.
" Dikhao na order kharab hai toh dikhao (Show me if the food you have ordered is bad)," he demanded to know.
The delivery agent had to return without the money. The company involved is yet to respond.

Sohra (Meghalaya): A local tourist guide, who alerted police about the presence of three men accompanying newlyweds Raja and Sonam Raghuvanshi on the day they went missing, on Tuesday claimed that he identified one of the suspects after seeing some photographs. The couple went missing on May 23 before Raja's highly decomposed body with fatal head injuries was found on June 2 near Weisawdong falls. Albert Pde, the guide at Mawlakhiat told PTI, "I could identify one of the suspects from the photos provided by police." "I am happy that the criminals are finally behind the bars. We stand vindicated. Those who tried to tarnish the image of Sohra and its people as violent have now been exposed," Pde added. Pde had said he saw the couple accompanied by the three men as they were climbing over 3,000 steps from Nongriat to Mawlakhiat around 10 am on May 23. According to the guide, "The four men, including Raja, were walking ahead while the woman was behind. The four men conversed in Hindi," he said, admitting that he was not very conversant in the language. Pde had initially offered his services to walk them to Nongriat on May 22, but they politely refused and hired another guide identified as Bha Wansai, who dropped them at Shipara homestay. Police on Monday arrested Sonam, a 24-year-old woman from Indore, for allegedly orchestrating the murder of her husband Raja during their honeymoon in the scenic town of Sohra in Meghalaya. Raja was killed by men allegedly hired by Sonam, who went 'missing' and surfaced in UP's Ghazipur where she surrendered at the Nandganj police station after the arrest of three assailants -- Akash Rajput (19), Vishal Singh Chauhan (22), and Raj Singh Kushwaha (21) -- in overnight raids. The autopsy report of Raja Raghuvanshi indicated that he was hit twice with a sharp object on his head, officials at the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) said. "The autopsy report indicated there were two sharp cuts on the head of the victim - one from behind and one from the front," East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem told PTI, quoting the report. He said police have also seen the two cuts on his head too during the inquest. According to the officer, police registered a murder case under Sohra PS after the initial inquest.

"He Used To Call Her Didi": Raj Kushwaha's Sister On Meghalaya Murder
New Delhi: Raja Raghuvanshi's body was found in a gorge in Meghalaya on June 2 and the police say his wife, Sonam, had planned the murder because she was in love with Raj Kushwaha, an employee in her family-run business. Kushwaha, it is alleged, had helped plan the murder and had involved three of his friends - Akash, Anand, and Vikash - who were promised Rs 20 lakh by Sonam. Kushwaha's sister Suhani has, however, stressed he is innocent. Her 21-year-old elder brother, she said, used to call 24-year-old Sonam Raghuvanshi 'didi' (elder sister) and he only spoke to her about office-related matters. Speaking to NDTV on Tuesday, a day after Kushwaha's arrest, Suhani said her brother never spoke to the family about Sonam. "He would never talk to us about didi. She would call him in the morning and sometimes we would answer and she would tell us it was time for him to get to work, that there was a vehicle waiting to be loaded. He worked in her office for two years," Suhani said in Hindi. The young girl also said Kushwaha was in Indore on May 23 when Raja Raghuvanshi was murdered in Meghalaya's East Khasi Hills. Asked how Kushwaha would address Sonam, Suhani said, "He and Sonam would only talk about work. They would not talk regularly. He would say ' didi is calling, answer and tell her that I will be reaching work soon'. He used to call her didi." Suhani said no one from the family attended Sonam's wedding on May 11 because they had gone to their village. Kushwaha was in Indore "to pay rent", she said, but he did not attend the wedding either as something had happened to their father on May 11 and no one from the family celebrated on that date. 'Want Justice' To a question on whether there had been any change in Kushwaha's behaviour after he started working with Sonam, she answered in the negative. "There was no change even when he found out that didi had got engaged," she stressed. Breaking out in tears after she was asked about the allegations against Kushwaha, Suhani said, "We don't believe this. We don't believe my brother can ever do this. We just want him to get justice. He has never done anything like this... He can never do this. Raja bhayya had not done anything, he had made no mistake, why would anyone kill him?" "We don't even know him. We have only seen him on the news. His mother, his brother, they are so sad because of this... I can't say anything about Sonam didi (and her involvement in the murder), how can I," she asked.

Contribute now New Delhi: Two days after a video circulated showing a young man purportedly of Indian nationality being restrained by the authorities apparently at the Newark airport in New Jersey, India has raised the issue with the US embassy in Delhi but has not been given the details of the situation, officials said on Tuesday (June 10). The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has 'formally raised the matter with the US embassy in New Delhi', while the Indian embassy in Washington and the consulate in New York 'have been in touch' with American authorities to ascertain the details of the incident, official sources said. However they have 'so far have not received any details about the incident or the circumstances under which' the young man 'was restrained, the flight he had to board or boarded and his final destination', they added. 'We continue to follow up on the matter.' Kunal Jain, an X user who has said he is an entrepreneur and a US national of Indian origin, posted photos and videos on Sunday of a young man being restrained and pinned to the ground by the authorities at what he said was the Newark Liberty International Airport on the outskirts of New York City. The young man's identity remains unknown. Jain claimed that he could be heard saying in Haryanvi-accented Hindi that he was not insane despite the authorities there trying to portray him as such. Among those restraining the man were seen wearing gear labelled as that of the police department of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which runs airports, seaports, bridges and tunnels that connect the two states. Jain also claimed that the young man was set to board the same flight as him from Newark to New Delhi but that the 'pilot stepped out, saw the situation and refused to allow [him] to board'. Reposting Jain's photos, Congress MP and communications general secretary Jairam Ramesh earlier on Tuesday accused the Modi government of 'failing to protect the honour of India and Indians'. Also referring to US President Donald Trump's claims that Washington mediated the ceasefire between India and Pakistan following their four-day-long military conflict on May 10, Ramesh wrote on X that Prime Minister Narendra Modi 'has not been able to summon the courage to speak – either on the ceasefire or on the atrocities being perpetrated against Indians in the US'. Modi ought to speak to Trump and call for American intervention in 'the atrocities happening against Indians and the fear that has gripped lakhs of Indian students in America', he added. The airport incident occurs against the backdrop of hundreds of international students and graduates in the US, Indian citizens among them, reporting having their visas revoked by the Trump administration. Some of them have approached the courts for relief. The MEA, which said it was 'supporting' Indian students in America who were facing issues with their student visas and reached out to India's missions, had earlier said that Indian citizens abroad must comply with local laws.
