Tata Elxsi rises on collaboration with Mercedes-Benz R&D India
Tata Elxsi rose 2.2% to Rs 6115.85 after the company announced a strategic collaboration with Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI) to support engineering and software development for Software Defined Vehicles (SDVs).
The partnership aims to scale next-generation automotive innovation from India, with Tata Elxsi contributing its deep expertise in automotive software, including platforms for autonomous, electric, and connected vehicles. This engagement is part of Mercedes-Benzs broader strategy to enhance its SDV capabilities, which focus on delivering integrated software architectures for improved vehicle performance, intuitive interfaces, and seamless user experiences.
Tata Elxsi will leverage its proprietary solutions such as the AVENIR SDV suite and AUTONOMAI ADAS suite, backed by its network of Mobility Innovation Centres and engineering talent.

The company reported 12.4% fall in net profit to Rs 172.4 crore in Q4 FY25 from Rs 196.9 crore in Q4 FY24. Revenue from operations for the period under review aggregated to Rs 908.3 crore, up 0.3% YoY.

Thiruvananthapuram corporation rolls out high-tech drain cleaner
Thiruvananthapuram: In a major push to modernize urban sanitation, the city corporation has added two state-of-the-art jetting-suction machines to its cleaning fleet. The G-Mammoth Four-in-One machines are aimed at improving the cleaning of open drains, septic tanks, sewage pits, and manholes with enhanced efficiency and safety. Funded under the Union govt's Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation scheme, the machines have already been deployed to provide quick and effective results, while a third unit is currently in development. Vimal Govind MK, co-founder of Genrobotics Innovations, said it took one and a half years to develop this equipment customized for the city. "The technology is based on our flagship product Bandicoot, which is used for cleaning manholes without depending on manual labour. This upgraded version integrates four key functions to make the cleaning process faster and safer," he said. A senior corporation official said the machines would be especially useful during the monsoon to clear clogged canals and drains. "This is a milestone in our mission for a cleaner, healthier Thiruvananthapuram. The machines are proving to be highly effective in removing clogged waste quickly," the official added. Each G-Mammoth unit is equipped with a high-pressure jetting system that uses powerful water streams to dislodge blockages in drainage systems. The automatic grabber simplifies the removal of solid waste from narrow or congested areas, reducing the need for manual intervention in hazardous environments. The machines also feature a robust suction system to extract sludge and transfer it into a 6,000-litre storage tank, ensuring safe disposal. Similar machines were tested successfully in Kochi, known for severe waterlogging and proved effective in tackling the issue. Each unit costs between Rs 70 lakh and Rs 80 lakh and is operated by two trained personnel from Genrobotics. Cleaning operations typically take between 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the site.

NHAI gives nod, footbridge work on Sohna highway can now begin
Gurgaon: Construction of a much-needed foot overbridge (FOB) at CD Chowk on the Sohna highway moved a step closer to reality, as the NHAI granted the long-pending no objection certificate (NOC) for the project. The NOC for the CD Chowk FOB was pending for months, with the GMDA awaiting clearance before initiating construction. Following a review by an independent engineer and recommendations from the concessionaire, the NHAI found the location to be technically feasible and critical for pedestrian safety. The proposed FOB at CD Chowk is part of a larger plan to enhance pedestrian connectivity along the busy NH-248A corridor, particularly the stretch between Subhash Chowk and Vatika Chowk, which experiences high foot traffic due to nearby malls, office complexes, and residential and commercial establishments. While the CD Chowk project was approved, NHAI deemed the FOB near Raheja Mall unviable, citing "space limitations, high utility shifting costs, and pedestrian safety concerns". "With the NOC in place for CD Chowk, we will soon begin construction. As for Raheja Mall, we will continue to pursue the matter and explore possible solutions, as the area experiences heavy footfall," said a senior GMDA official. These two locations are part of GMDA's broader plan that includes four FOBs across the city, with a total estimated cost of Rs 16 crore. GMDA awarded the contract in Dec last year, and it plans to complete the entire project within 18 months. All the proposed FOBs will be made of stainless steel and equipped with escalators, the official said. Construction work has already begun near the Sector 14 market. However, consensus remains elusive over the proposed FOB near the Sheetla Mata temple. Last Wednesday, a meeting was held between representatives of the Sheetla Mata Mandir Trust, GMDA, and MCG to resolve the issue. However, the work was halted after objections from the temple trust. Following a site visit by the deputy commissioner on Saturday, GMDA was instructed to relocate the FOB a few metres away from the proposed site. "We will evaluate the alternative site suggested by the administration and assess whether design modifications can address the concerns," a GMDA official said.

Chandigarh MC collects record property tax during 2-month rebate period
1 2 Chandigarh: The Chandigarh municipal corporation has achieved an unprecedented property tax collection of approximately Rs 60 crore during April and May rebate period. Citizens submitted payments via e-Sampark Centres and banks, with e-Sampark Centres, which operated until 8pm on Saturday, receiving the majority of payments. The final figures might increase slightly, but this collection marks the highest amount ever received during a two-month rebate period. The detailed breakdown of residential and commercial property tax collections will be published on Monday after data compilation. Sources indicate that whilst commercial properties contributed the larger share of the amount, residential property owners represented the highest number of taxpayers. "As the rates of commercial property tax are substantially higher than the residential properties, the collected amount of commercial property tax is relatively higher than the residential tax category. On the other hand, the maximum taxpayers fall in the residential taxpayers category," sources in the MC said. Official records indicate that e-Sampark Centres collected approximately Rs 48 crore, whilst banks received around rupees 12 crore. About 65,000 taxpayers participated during April and May, with roughly 51,000 from residential properties and the remainder from commercial establishments. The tax branch officials worked diligently over these two months, encouraging taxpayers to utilise the rebate period. The MC addressed numerous queries from taxpayers who visited their office during this period. The previous year's collection during April and May 2024 was approximately rupees 39 crore, with lower tax rates. Following the Chandigarh administration's decision to double property tax rates in April, the MC anticipates collecting around rupees 70 crore this financial year, excluding arrears. Currently, Chandigarh has 1.42 lakh properties, comprising 1.12 lakh residential and 30,000 commercial properties. The rebate period concluded on May 31, and those who missed the deadline must now pay a 25% penalty on their total property tax amount, plus 12% interest. During the rebate period, residential properties received a 20% rebate, whilst commercial properties received 10%.
