10 CHAMBERS RELEASES RAW GAMEPLAY FOOTAGE OF DEN OF WOLVES SHOWCASING UNIQUE 'DIVE' MECHANIC

Biz Bahrain04-04-2025

Swedish game developer 10 Chambers has unveiled raw gameplay footage of their upcoming techno-thriller co-op FPS, Den of Wolves. The footage showcases an intense gunfight inside an abandoned bank now controlled by the notorious Jötunn Guard gang, alongside the game's groundbreaking 'Dive' mechanic that transports players into surreal mental dimensions. In Midway City, where the game takes place, biological data storage emerged following devastating AI-driven cyberattacks in the 2030s that nearly brought the global economy to collapse. In response, corporations have developed revolutionary 'Bio-Stashes'—data storage systems based on human neural patterns, which are fundamentally different from traditional networks, making them completely inaccessible to AI. 'What we call The Dive is when you're hacking one of these neural networks, and it throws you into another dimension where rules can be bent however we want – and the location and environment as well,' says Ulf Andersson, Game Director. 'In this specific Dive, you are parkouring in a space setting, but a Dive can take place anywhere. For example, we are currently working on a dive set in a horror setting, in a Norwegian forest, and monsters are chasing you.' Den of Wolves expands the traditional heist concept far beyond bank robberies. As criminals-for-hire in Midway City's corporate battleground, players will execute industrial espionage, steal prototypes, sabotage operations, and carry out assassinations—or 'unauthorized errands' as the corporations euphemistically call them. The game is currently in active development and will be released as Early Access on Steam. No specific release date has been announced, as 10 Chambers emphasizes their commitment to quality over rushed deadlines. Den of Wolves is available to wishlist on Steam. AI to spur more music creativity, not a threat: Spotify CEO

AFP | Artificial intelligence will encourage more people to create music in the future and is not a threat to the industry, the founder and CEO of streaming giant Spotify said. Artists using machine-learning tools to produce music have given rise to concerns about whether AI-generated music -- even entirely fake artists -- could one day replace human artists. "I'm mostly optimistic and mostly very excited because we're just in the beginning of understanding this future of creativity that we're entering," Daniel Ek told reporters at an Open House at the company's Stockholm headquarters this week. Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter and a recent book, "Mood Machine", have accused Spotify of tasking a handful of producers to make thousands of songs under fake AI profiles, which the company allegedly pushed onto playlists -- saving Spotify money by elbowing out real artists and their higher royalties. Spotify has denied the claims. "We want real humans to make it as artists and creators, but what is creativity in the future with AI? I don't know. What is music?" Ek said. He recalled that electronic dance music and the DJ culture, and before that, hip hop where people sampled music, were initially not considered "real music". Noting that Mozart had to compose entire symphonies in his head, Ek said that "now, any one of us can probably create a beat in five or 10 minutes". "The tools that we now have in our availability are just staggering." "Of course there are very scary potential applications for AI, but the more interesting thing for me is that the amount of creativity that creative people will have available at their fingertips is going to be insane," he said. "The barriers for creation are becoming lower and lower. More and more people will create," he said. Ek said he saw the development of AI in the music industry "much more as an evolution than a revolution". Spotify had 678 million active users at the end of March, including 268 million paying subscribers. Ek said the company, which turned its first annual profit in 2024, now had 100 million paying subscribers in Europe alone, and hoped to one day see a billion paying users worldwide. "I don't think there's any doubt in my mind that the potential for Spotify at some point is to eventually get to over a billion paying subscribers."

Bittersweet summer tale

Swedish author Fredrik Backman's new novel My Friends has hit the shelves. The tale is set in the summer, when a group of teenagers find refuge away from their difficult home, living in an abandoned pier, where they tell each other stories and joke around. A painting by one of the three friends emerges 25 years later and lands into the hands of 18-year-old Louisa, who embarks on a cross-country journey to learn the story behind it, which also inspires her to unleash her own artistic self. 'It's a little story my brain and I have argued about for a few years, about art and artists, about being young and desperately wanting to create something, anything,' Fredrik said in a social media post. 'It's also about growing up close to violence, outside and inside, and having friends who'd fight the whole universe for you. It's about those who saw greatness in you before you ever could. It's about being 17, and how a painting in a museum can knock you over so completely, it changes the whole trajectory of your life,' he added. The #1 New York Times bestselling author is known for many novels, most famously, A Man Called Ove, which was published in English in 2013, and later adapted into a namesake Swedish comedy drama film in 2015, as well as a 2022 American film titled A Man Called Otto starring Tom Hanks and his son Truman.
