ICE raids: Trump orders major deportation expansion in Democratic cities

United States President Donald Trump directed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to expand deportation efforts in Democratic-led cities, demanding federal authorities to 'do all in their power' to achieve mass deportations in a social media post.
'ICE Officers are herewith ordered, by notice of this TRUTH, to do all in their power to achieve the very important goal of delivering the single largest Mass Deportation Program in History,' the president posted on his Truth Social platform.
The post came amid nationwide protests, including major clashes with police in Los Angeles. A curfew in downtown LA was lifted on Tuesday.
'We must expand efforts to detain and deport Illegal Aliens in America's largest Cities, such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, where Millions upon Millions of Illegal Aliens reside,' Trump said in his post.

The US president has made deporting undocumented immigrants a main feature of his second term, after successfully campaigning against an alleged 'invasion' of criminals. CNN has reported that ICE has been racing to meet White House arrest quotas.
The country has seen mainly peaceful protests against the administration's immigration crackdown. Still, Trump singled out sporadic violent incidents as justification to deploy 4,000 National Guards and 700 Marines to Los Angeles, against the wishes of local and state authorities.
California has sued to regain control of the National Guardsmen from Trump, arguing he overstepped his authority.
That suit is working its way through federal court.

LA Mayor Karen Bass described the fear and anger that have taken hold in the heavily Latino city over the immigration raids.
'People are afraid to leave their homes,' she said, adding that raids have at times felt 'indiscriminate'.
'This is the United States. You are not supposed to have to show your papers if you go out in public,' she said.
Trump listed grievances against 'sick' Democrats in his post, including charges that they 'believe in Open Borders, Transgender for Everybody, and Men playing in Women's Sports'.
He said he wanted ICE and other law enforcement agencies 'to FOCUS on our crime ridden and deadly Inner Cities', directing his entire administration 'to put every resource possible behind this effort, and reverse the tide of Mass Destruction Migration that has turned once Idyllic Towns into scenes of Third World Dystopia'.

Over the weekend, anti-Trump demonstrators took to the streets as part of 'No Kings' protests nationwide. Large crowds marched in coordinated rallies, coinciding with a Trump-hosted military parade in Washington.
At least one demonstration was met with violence when a man intentionally drove an SUV through a crowd of departing protestors, striking at least one person, police said.
On Tuesday, Brad Lander, New York City's comptroller and a mayoral candidate, was arrested by masked federal agents while visiting an immigration court.

In a statement to the Guardian, Tricia McLaughlin, assistant secretary from the Department of Homeland Security, said Lander 'was arrested for assaulting law enforcement and impeding a federal officer'.
Upon his release, Lander said he 'certainly did not' assault an officer. He told an Associated Press reporter that he was there to 'accompany' some immigrants out of the building.
Lander can be seen and heard in videos of the incident asking the immigration officials if they have a judicial warrant.
Additional footage of the arrest shows Lander telling the officials: 'I'm not obstructing. I'm standing right here in the hallway. I asked to see the judicial warrant.' Masked officials pinned Lander to a wall and put him in handcuffs.

Trump says US ‘may' or ‘may not' join Israel against Iran

As the direct conflict between Iran and Israel keeps the world guessing about possible US involvement, US President Donald Trump sent a broadly mixed message about possible military action, suggesting that American forces may participate in Israel's strikes against the Islamic republic. 'You don't know that I am going to even do it. You don't know. I may do it, I may not do it, nobody knows what I'm going to do,' the US president said at an event at the White House. Follow developments and reactions here as the world grapples with an unprecedented level of direct confrontation between Israel and Iran, and fears of an all-out war grow.

New world order: Greater China, Russia and Israel, but smaller US

There was a prescient headline in The Onion, the satirical publication, which read: 'CIA uncovers Chinese plot to just sit back and enjoy collapse of United States.' And a photo caption said: 'CPC president Xi Jinping actively engaged in the aggressive observation of American decay.' It first appeared in 2014, but it's even truer today. Look at the big messes Donald Trump has made at home and abroad. Another 'forever war', over Iran this time? China's foreign initiatives in recent years have been far less impressive than America's own goals. For more than a decade now, Washington has wanted to concentrate all its powers on containing China. But it keeps getting sidetracked. Just when there was a transatlantic consensus between Europe and the United States to confront China, Russia invaded Ukraine. That war effectively took the European Union out of the anti-China equation as it has been destabilising the societies and economies of major EU member states engaged in a proxy fight it can ill afford. And just when the US wanted to leave the Europeans to their own devices and make nice with Moscow so that it could again train its guns on China, Israel's genocidal war in the Palestinian territories started. With full US and some European support, the Israelis have shown the world what a real genocide and ethnic cleansing look like in the 21st century. That has effectively exposed the West's fabrication of the Uygur 'genocide' in Xinjiang for the whole world to see.

TikTok's fate still in limbo as Trump extends deadline to sell platform's US operations

The fate of short video app TikTok in the United States remains in limbo, according to analysts, even as the Trump administration gives owner ByteDance fresh 90-day extension to find a non-Chinese buyer for the popular platform's operations in the country. The White House on Tuesday said US President Donald Trump would sign another executive order this week 'to keep TikTok up and running' in the US. While Beijing and Washington work on a trade deal, 'the TikTok issue is beyond the scope of traditional trade, as it involves national security, data sovereignty, technological competition and other highly sensitive issues', said Sun Chenghao, a fellow and head of the US-EU programme of the Centre for International Security and Strategy at Tsinghua University 'Even if there is some easing in the trade area, the prudent attitude towards the [TikTok] issue has not been loosened', he said. His assessment reflects the uncertainty on whether Trump can – or will – keep extending the ban, as the government continues to try to negotiate a deal for TikTok.
