'Magic' product cleaned my garden in hours and I didn't even need to scrub'

Daily Record15-05-2025

Over the winter months, algae can grow on fences, patio, decking and bricks, making your garden look unsightly and untidy. The slippery green blight can be stubborn to remove, depending on where it has latched onto.
For me, it was a brick wall in my garden. The once orange coloured bricks had turned green and not even our power washer was removing the growth.
Algae thrives in moist and shaded areas, so because our wall is in an area that doesn't get much sunlight, it was definitely in need of a clean. As well as jet washing, I had also tried bleach and then scrubbed at it with a hard bristle brush, but it didn't make much of a difference.
After writing an article about a Mrsh Hinch fan recommending , I decided to give it a try for myself and I was pleasantly surprised.
I diluted the product as per the instructions, sprayed it onto the affected areas and let it work it's magic. Within a day the algae began to disappear and I didn't even have to scrub it. I couldn't believe the difference with such little effort. My wall is now back to its original colour and I couldn't be happier.
Shoppers can buy a 5 litre bottle of the product from Amazon for £21.95, down from £34.99. It might seem pricey, but I definitely think it was worth the money.
is described as "easy to use and so effective" by users faced with dirty patios, decks, fences, and more. It's currently flying off the virtual shelves, especially since it's available at a discounted price on Amazon.
Alternatively, ToolStation are selling Barrettine Mould & Mildew Cleaner with 15 percent off. It's reduced from £14.48 to £11.68. The product is suitable for use on most surfaces including timber, concrete, brick, plaster, stone or tiles and promises to control of mould, algae and fungi.
Another great option is the Jarder Spray & Leave Ready to Use Patio Cleaner from B&Q. The 5L bottles is on sale for £17.95. It's pre-mixed and ready to use, so might be more convenient for people who are looking for an easier option.
If you're looking for a product that promises to do what it says on the box, then the Wet & Forget Multi-Surface Outdoor Cleaner is a good choice and fans have awarded it 4.4 out of 5.
One happy shopper wrote in a five-star review: "Excellent job, green algae was disappearing within couple of hours. I mixed 1ltr wet n forget and 4 litres water, 5 litres in total in a spray bottle and was perfect, went over it twice and still got just over half a wet n forget bottle left. Did take a bit of paint of the fence but can always re paint so no worries."
Another delighted customer agreed, saying: "Good stuff, works over a period of time to remove green algae etc and easy to apply with a sprayer."
Whilst someone else added: "Worked very well on wooden fencing, cleared algae and didn't damage previously applied fence paint."

Not everyone was satisfied with Wet N Forget, one person said: "I made the mix up in a sprayer, even went a touch stronger (4:1 rather than the suggested 5:1), a completely dry day and night (obviously there was dew at some point), the next day there was no change, nothing!
"I've no idea how people rate this so highly, it simply doesn't work."
Another agreed saying: "Diluted to exact specifications and it didn't work at all. Tried in sunny spots, tried in shady spots, literally pointless.
"Disappointing, because it's pretty expensive for something that didn't work."
The deal is only on for a short period, so it won't be around for long. Shoppers can save around £13 per bottle if they purchase now from Amazon.

Popular kitchen gadget banned and destroyed over 'serious' risk of explosion

A kitchen gadget sold on Amazon has been banned and will be destroyed over a 'serious' risk of fire and explosion. The UK government has issued a warning that the machine used to dehydrate foods should not be used, and any imports will be intercepted. 'The import has been rejected at the border and destroyed.' Their product safety notice relates to the Moongiantgo Food Dehydrator, which can be used to make dried fruit snacks, among other things.
