REELING Lyons crime clan members suspect a traitor in their tight inner circle set up the shocking murders of Eddie Lyons Jnr and Ross Monaghan, underworld sources claimed.

The executed kingpins are thought to have originally planned to head to another spot along the Costa del Sol coast for a night out — but a last-minute decision to stay at Monaghan's bar sealed their fate.
The pair were enjoying a meal and a drink after watching the Champions League final when the assassin zeroed in on them as petrified punters ran for cover.
The fresh revelations emerged as horrific CCTV footage revealed the last moments of Monaghan, one of Scotland's most notorious gangland figures.
Pictures recorded from inside his Irish pub — and later broadcast on Spanish TV — show the gunman bursting in wearing a black cap, a black top, shorts and what seemed to be a T-shirt as a makeshift mask.
Relaxed Monaghan is sitting nearby wearing a white T-shirt and chatting to customers, unaware he and long-time close pal Lyons are seconds from death.
A source told The Scottish Sun: 'Eddie and Ross were always wary of who knew where they would be.
'They often changed plans at the last minute and Eddie was always wary about using his phone anywhere. He only did face-to-face meetings which meant he had to travel back to Scotland a lot.
'The gunman was obviously tipped off as the two of them had decided on a change of venue at the last minute.
'Only a few people would have known about that so there will be a hunt on to find who betrayed them to the guys who killed them.'
Lyons, 46, was the first to die when he was blasted in the chest at point-blank range as he sat on the terrace outside.

The camera footage shows desperate Monaghan then fleeing inside the bar for his life only to stumble to the floor as the killer gives chase with his gun drawn.
The seriously wounded hood appears to look into his murderer's eyes in the split second before he tries to scramble away on all fours as he realises he has no escape.
Two innocent bystanders thought to include a waitress and a man in black whose identity is not known can be seen running in terror.
After being shot up to four times, Monaghan, 43, sits upright against a wall, motionless and with blood seeping out from his stomach wounds onto his top as his life ebbs away.

The assassin — who remains at large — then races from the scene to meet up with a getaway driver before they sped off into the night.
Our source also revealed the Glasgow-based Lyons clan keep matters so tight most family members only found out the pair were dead from media reports.
They said: 'Most of the family were totally unaware of what had happened and were shocked to see the stuff in the papers. It's struck fear into the footsoldiers of the gang in Glasgow who are now constantly looking over their shoulder.
'They realise that if the top boys can be got at then so can they.'
Claims also emerged last night that 'the wife' of one of the executed men witnessed the bloodshed at around 11.30pm on Saturday.
Malaga-based newspaper Sur reported the woman was the partner of one of the two victims, but did not say which one.
Further graphic images and video shared on social media show Lyons lying on his back amid claims he died instantly from a bullet to the chest. In one particularly harrowing clip, a good Samaritan is seen trying to keep him alive by frantically attempting CPR as a small group look on in stunned silence.
Another shocked passer-by is heard on the phone saying: 'Someone's just got shot in the head.'
Spanish police say they have yet to make any arrests. A spokesman added: 'The investigation is continuing into the fatal shooting of two men at a pub in Fuengirola.'
A government representative for the Malaga area said reports of a third person having been hurt in the carnage were incorrect.
Detectives revealed the shooter fled on foot before rejoining an accomplice in a car who had driven him to the scene.
Police have retraced part of their escape route to a dual carriageway heading towards Benalmadena.
Officers from an elite Spanish National Police Costa del Sol-based Anti-Drug and Organised Crime Unit UDYCO are heading the hunt.
They are reporting to a local investigating judge coordinating the operation. Court officials are expected to confirm a secrecy order has been imposed on the investigation, barring public officials from making any detailed public comment.
The 'secreto de sumario' orders are often placed on criminal probes, especially in their infancy, to limit the number of people who have access to sensitive information.
Some local reports point to witnesses identifying the hitman as a 'blonde man' and investigators working on the theory British nationals are behind the killings, but detectives have not commented.
A British woman who answered the phone at Monaghan's Irish bar said she had been told by cops not to comment.
Monaghan was cleared of killing Daniel clan enforcer Kevin 'Gerbil' Carroll in a 2010 shooting.
In 2017, Monaghan and Lyons were pictured laughing outside Glasgow Sheriff Court as an assault trial against them collapsed. They had been accused of battering three men outside the Campsie bar in Bishopbriggs.
Their murders come amid a violent gang war that has seen firebombings and assaults across the central belt since March. We told how hoods said to be working for Dubai-based mobster Ross 'Miami' McGill, 31, triggered the mayhem here targeting allies of jailed Edinburgh cocaine kingpin Mark Richardson and Lyons enemies, the Daniel family.
Former Rangers ultras chief McGill, from East Kilbride, has been out for revenge amid claims rivals paid him for £500,000 of coke with fake notes.

Gangland feud whistleblower says "cancer of organised crime" allowed to fester

Former Glasgow City councillor Billy McAllister believes the current violence involving the rival Lyons and Daniel families could have been avoided when he first raised concerns with the authorities in 2000. The man who first exposed the criminal activities of the Lyons family 25 years ago has slammed police and politicians for ignoring his warnings of future bloodshed. Whistleblower Billy McAllister says the current murderous feud with the Daniel crime clan could have been avoided had the authorities listened to him at the time. ‌ McAllister was speaking as detectives in Spain stepped up their hunt for the killers of Lyons gang members Ross Monaghan and Eddie Lyons jnr. ‌ Both men were shot dead in an Irish bar owned by Monaghan in the Spanish holiday resort of Fuengirola by a lone gunman who escaped in a waiting car. In 2000 Billy first exposed the Lyons family's involvement in the running of the public funded Chirnsyde Community Initiative in Milton, Glasgow. His complaints that the community centre was a cover for organised crime were dismissed for years by both the police and Glasgow City Council. However that all changed in 2006 when Lyons family member Michael Lyons was shot dead in a Glasgow garage by two associates of the Daniel family, Raymond Anderson and James McDonald. The victim's cousin Steven Lyons was seriously injured by the gunmen as was Lyons associate Robert Pickett. ‌ Glasgow City Council finally shut down Chirnsyde and evicted members of the Lyons family from the community centre a few days later. At the time a young Ross Monaghan and Eddie Lyons jnr were both members of the Club Boys - a group of young aspiring criminals attached to the centre. Billy, who is a former SNP councillor, said the latest bloodshed which saw both men murdered in cold blood on Saturday night was avoidable and preventable had the authorities taken action much sooner. He added:"It's shocking that two young men have lost their lives, but what is more shocking is the fact that the assignation was in a public bar where members of the public were going about their lawful business, having a good night out and their lives where put in danger. "Surely given all the intelligence and information they (the police) have on these criminals how was this allowed to happen? "It was wrong for the police and politicians to ignore us. "If they had done an early intervention then maybe a lot of people might just be still living. "Now 25 years later the feud is still ongoing and they (the police) are losing the war." ‌ It's estimated that the Lyons run community centre received more than £1.4 million in taxpayers money before it was finally closed down. By this time the Lyons had established themselves as a major organised crime group, at war with their Daniel rivals. Billy added: "The origins of the feud was all drug related, and control of that market. "The Lyons along with the Daniel's were determined to control the north of the city at that time. "They always hated each other going away back to when they where petty criminals. "We kept on complaining but they just ignored it, but low and behold it all came out at the end." Billy won election to Glasgow City Council in 2006 as a local councillor in Milton by vowing to evict the Lyons crime gang from Chirnsyde. ‌ He continued: "A top policeman told me that the police and politicians had left the cancer of serious and organised crime too long without addressing the problem head on. "That's why criminality is a growth industry, the risks are very low of getting caught. "The Lyons could have been taken out when they where petty criminals but they have been allowed to go undetected and look where we are now." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! The long running feud was reignited in March this year when the Daniel family and associates were targeted in a series of fire bombings and other attacks. The man alleged to have orchestrated the most recent violence is former Rangers ultra 31 year old Ross McGill who is based in Dubai and said to have close links to the Lyons. ‌ His gang Tamo Junto have laid the blame for the double murder on a major gangland figure, said to be a key associate of the Daniel family. It's claimed the Lyons had been feeding McGill information to help his gang track their Daniel targets in Edinburgh and Glasgow. The deaths of Monaghan and Lyons jnr is the most dramatic escalation of the feud to date which has largely been played out in public. In 2010 feared Daniel enforcer and family member Kevin Carroll was shot dead by two men in the car park of an ASDA store in Robroyston, Glasgow. ‌ Two years later Ross Monaghan stood trial at the High Court in Glasgow for the murder but walked free after a judge ruled there was no case to answer. In 2017 Monaghan was shot while dropping off his daughter at her primary school in Penilee, Glasgow but escaped with minor injuries. He then relocated to Spain where he opened Monaghan's Bar. Police Scotland has so far arrested 41 people over the most recent incidents in Edinburgh and Glasgow as part of Operation Portaledge. In a statement they said they did not believe they were linked to the weekend fatal shootings in Spain. However there are fears that both murders have taken the Lyons-Daniel feud to a whole new level with the prospect of further violence and retribution.

We told how Monaghan, 43, was key in helping to cement the Glasgow-based Lyons' ties with the Kinahans, who have a £4million bounty on their heads in the US. Last night, the relative said: 'Ross was very, very close with the Irish guys and he had a very close relationship with them. 'The family have had a few phone calls from them to say, 'sorry for your loss'. 'The words they used were: 'We'll get it sorted'. 'Top Kinahan members who have already asked about the funeral and have asked about the dates. 'The bodies will be repatriated and there is talk about a joint funeral, although that's not certain.' American and Irish crimefighters are hunting Kinahan, 47, his godfather dad Christy, 67, and brother Christy Jnr, 43. Spanish cops are understood to potentially know the identity of the shooter but have not yet established which crew he was hired by. The hitman stormed Monaghan's rish pub in Fuengirola before blasting Lyons, 46, and close pal Monaghan in front of terrified holidaymakers who had just watched the Champions League final. Mobs from around the world - including from Morocco, Italy and the Balkans - are known to have bases in Spain and Dubai where key Lyons figures split their time. The FULL story of Scotland's biggest gangster Jamie 'The Iceman' Stevenson Coming This Sunday Scots cops have insisted the killings were not linked to the gang war in Glasgow and Edinburgh. But the Lyons family last night scotched false theories that the murders could have been a revenge attack by their long-term Glasgow rivals. But the Lyons have now scotched speculation that the double murder could have been a revenge attack by their long-term enemies. They believe another mob has used the turf feud raging here as a smokescreen for the killings. In a rare move aimed at preventing a further escalation in violence, the relative said: 'The family believe there are possibilities it is linked to trouble Ross had in Spain. 'Ross obviously has a lot of business out there and could be the people who ordered the hit have taken advantage of the situation in Scotland. We know Ross had lots of dealing with people out there and it could be something that's been bubbling under for a while. 5 Caged cocaine kingpin Mark Richardson Credit: Michael Schofield - The Sun Glasgow 5 Dubai-based ex-Rangers ultra Ross McGill, 31, nicknamed Miami Credit: Supplied 'But they have picked this time to act because there is an ongoing feud. 'They have seen an opportunity to use what's being going on here as a kind of camouflage, a tactical plan to act while these attacks in Edinburgh and Glasgow have been ongoing.' It is understood Spanish authorities have told the victims' families they have a strong idea who carried out the attacks. It now seems certain that Monaghan was the primary target when the assassin burst in to the pub at 11.30am after leaping from a car driven by an accomplice. Harrowing CCTV footage aired on Spanish TV showed him crawling for his life with blood soaking through his T-shirt while being pursued by the mystery gunman, who had just killed Lyons. Jail safety move for Daniel 2 Exclusive by Graham Mann TWO caged gunmen have been placed in isolation amid rising gangland tensions. Daniel clan hitman Raymond Anderson and Lyons shooter Billy 'Buff' Paterson have been shifted in a precautionary move by chiefs at HMP Shotts, Lanarkshire. The move follows the unconnected executions of Lyons kingpins Ross Monaghan, 43, and Eddie Lyons Jnr, 46, in Spain on Saturday. Anderson, 62, gunned down Michael Lyons, 21, in the notorious Lambhill garage shooting in Glasgow in 2006. Meanwhile Paterson, 45, was jailed for the murder of Daniel enforcer Kevin 'Gerbil' Carroll, 29, four years later. Last night, a jail source said: 'Anderson and Paterson are now both in isolation at HMP Shotts. 'The risk of attacks on them has never been higher. 'Even though it has been made clear the Daniels had nothing to do with what happened in Spain, there remains a risk.' Anderson was caged for at least 30 years with fellow gunman James McDonald. Paterson is said to be a powerful enforcer inside the tough nick. The Scottish Prison Service said: 'We manage people in our care in a way which best meets individual risks and needs, and supports safety, security and good order.' Lyons was shot in the chest at point-blank range and died instantly. At least four bullets were fired at cornered Monaghan inside. It is believed relatives were dismayed by a seeming lack of forensic activity at the scene following the bloodbath. The family member explained: 'The Spanish police said the reason for that is because they know who did it - although they have not told the family who they think it is.' Last night Spanish officials vowed the killer seen fleeing in a getaway car will be caught. Government representative Javier Salas said: 'I've no doubt that the person who caused the murders, who arrived and left the pub on foot with his face covered, will be identified and located, as happens in 90 per cent of cases in Malaga. 'Only one person entered and shot the two UK citizens who died practically on the spot.' Ex-Union Bears leader McGill is said to be out for revenge after being paid for £500,000 of cocaine with fake banknotes. A Police Scotland said previously: 'The investigation into the fatal shootings in Fuengirola is being carried out by Spanish police. We have no officers deployed within Spain. 'There is currently no intelligence to suggest the deaths of these two men in Spain are linked to recent criminal attacks in Scotland.' Monaghan was cleared over the 2010 execution of Daniel enforcer Kevin 'Gerbil' Carroll, who was gunned down in a car outside Asda in Robroyston, Glasgow. He moved to Spain after surviving a previous murder bid when he was shot outside a primary school in Penilee, Glasgow, in 2017.

Family of murdered Lyons kingpin Ross Monaghan say notorious rivals DIDN'T order executions

The Lyons and Daniels have been at war for decades, with both sides involved in sickening violence THE grief-stricken family of murdered Lyons gang kingpin Ross Monaghan last night sensationally said their Daniel clan enemies are not to blame. We can reveal the bitter Glasgow rivals have put their own conflict on hold amid suspicions a foreign crew ordered the Costa del Sol pub hit on hoods Monaghan, 43, and Eddie Lyons Jnr, 46. "There are other theories about who is behind it, but the one thing we know for sure is it's got nothing to do with the Daniels or Mark Richardson.' The relative also insisted that despite leading lives of crime, both victims were much-loved family men. Tragically, Eddie Lyons Jnr's death came just weeks after his teenage daughter passed away from illness. Advertisement The relative added: 'Ross obviously did what he did and the family accept that, but people have been saying some very horrible things. 'They have to remember Ross was a father and a son. Eddie had only just buried his daughter and so you can imagine this has hit everyone extremely hard — none more so than his brother Steven Lyons who is extremely upset.' The Lyons and Daniels have been at war for decades, with both sides involved in sickening violence. We told yesterday how the under-siege Daniels are said to have set aside £500,000 to deal with potential revenge attacks amid fears they would be wrongly blamed for the killings. Advertisement A source said: 'Neither side can take the moral high ground but for once there is genuine shock at what's happened in Spain on both sides. 'The last thing the Lyons and the Daniels need is more bloodshed, so it's easy to see why they want to make it clear that these murders are the work of another crime gang operating outside Scotland.' The FULL story of Scotland's biggest gangster Jamie 'The Iceman' Stevenson Coming This Sunday Spanish cops are continuing to hunt the gunman who struck in Fuengirola on Saturday. Police Scotland has also ruled out claims the assassinations were plotted by warring mobsters here.
