Govinda, Sunita Ahuja's Marriage Is 'Cursed'; Actor's Mother Gave Him THIS Warning

Sunita Ahuja added that her father was against her marriage with Govinda and didn't attend their wedding.
Earlier this year, whispers of Govinda and Sunita Ahuja parting ways after 38 years of marriage surfaced online, causing concern among fans. Sunita had previously debunked those reports, but the speculation persisted, causing her to issue multiple denials. In a recent chat with Deccan Talks With Asif, she said that her marriage has been cursed by someone.
Addressing the speculations around her marriage, Sunita Ahuja laughed and said, 'Pata nahi kis ki nazar lag gayi (I don't know who cursed us). I won't let anyone take my husband away from me." In the same conversation, Sunita recalled how her father was against their marriage.
'He never wanted me to marry Govinda. He didn't even come to my wedding. He knew what goes around in the film industry, he wanted me to marry a businessman. He had even selected a boy for me in Holland, but mera pyaar sacha tha (but I truly loved Govinda). I was 15 years old when I held Govinda's hand. That childhood love is like that, we both loved each other a lot," Sunita said.
Unlike Sunita's father, Govinda's mother was very supportive of their relationship. Sunita said, 'When I got married to Govinda, he lived with his big family, but I loved him. Even now, I am living at Govinda's home because of my mother-in-law. She wanted us to get married. She had told him, 'Chichi, if you leave Sunita, tu bhikari ban jayega (If you leave Sunita, you will become a beggar). I remember this dialogue."
Sunita and Govinda's story goes back to their teenage years. The two met when Govinda was completing his B.Com and Sunita was in the 9th grade, staying at her sister's house, who happened to be married to Govinda's maternal uncle. Despite a rocky beginning, love bloomed. The couple married in 1986, long before Govinda became a household name, and kept their marriage under wraps for four years. Today, they are parents to two children, Tina Ahuja and Yashvardhan Ahuja. While Tina has already stepped into Bollywood, Yashvardhan is gearing up for his debut.

I am in a different phase of life, and so is my acting. It is lovely to be back, playing Sunita." Aamir Khan, who plays Sunita's emotionally immature husband Gulshan, spoke highly about her co-star and their on-screen chemistry. He said, 'The camera loves her. She lights up every frame she's in. When she started with her first film. She gave a flawless performance in her first film itself. And, she has only grown stronger. Every performance of hers is natural, real and effective. She is a real pleasure to work with." The actor also talked about their characters' relationship, calling it the core of the film. 'The relationship between Gulshan and Sunita is at the heart of the film. It was a joy performing those scenes with Genelia. She brings something raw and honest to the screen, and that gave me a lot to work with as an actor," the star said. 'My character in the film is very immature. Gulshan does not know how to conduct relationships. He fails at all his relationships. His most important relation is with his wife, the one he is failing at. The chemistry between me and Genelia really worked out for me. I could really bounce off her. When you've a good actor in front, you take from the actor," he added. Director RS Prasanna echoed these sentiments, highlighting the actors' emotional intelligence and authenticity. He said, 'Both of them are extremely sensitive, emotional and authentic people. The film automatically becomes real, and it has some kind of different energy when you capture the performances. When you are working with such actors, you don't need to do much. They're both emotionally intelligent and incredibly authentic. You just do your job of storytelling along with them. They are an absolute pleasure to work with."
