Florida baseball moves up a couple spots in the latest D1Baseball Top 25 rankings
Florida baseball has ascended two spots to secure the No. 8 position in the latest D1Baseball Top 25 rankings. Their 7-0 start to the season helped them rise in the rankings and they are still looking to do more damage.
The Gators have seen incredible performances so far from players such as junior catcher Brody Donay, who has a batting average of .524 to go along with four home runs and seven RBI. Junior infielder Colby Shelton has also had a nice start to the season, holding a batting average of .407 while also recording a total of seven RBI to go along with a home run.
Looking at the pitching, Florida sophomore right-hander Liam Peterson has been lights out. In 10 innings, Peterson has allowed four hits, three walks, no earned runs, and has struck-out 16 batters.
Redshirt junior left-handed pitcher Pierce Coppola has been a strikeout machine. He leads the team with 20 strikeouts in 10 innings of work so far this season.
The rise to No. 8 in the D1Baseball rankings places Florida in a strong position at the beginning of the season. As the season unfolds, the Gators will be able to show off just how good they truly can be, because make no mistake, the level of competition hasn't exactly been the best.
This is where teams from the SEC were ranked in the latest D1Baseball Top 25 rankings.

Seven Georgia Bulldogs named as preseason All-Americans
The Georgia Bulldogs are expected to have several standout players this year. Sportswriter Phil Steele named seven Georgia players to his 2025 Preseason All-American teams, with each of the four teams featuring at least one Bulldog. Punter Brett Thorson and cornerback Daylen Everette made the first team. Linebacker CJ Allen and long snapper Beau Gardner earned spots on the second team. The third team included safety KJ Bolden and defensive tackle Christen Miller and kicker Peyton Woodring made the fourth team. Advertisement Thorson averaged 47.6 yards per punt, ranking seventh in the country. As a result, he was a finalist for the Ray Guy Award. Everette underwent a sports hernia surgery that sidelined him for the spring game, but he is expected to be fully healthy by the time the season starts. In 2024, he led all Georgia Bulldogs with three interceptions. Four players on Georgia's defense were selected, further highlighting the confidence media outlets like Steele and ESPN Greg McElroy have in Georgia's defense and coach Kirby Smart. Additionally, three UGA specialists made the team. The Dawgs should have an excellent special teams unit again in 2025. However, no players from Georgia's offense made any of the All-America teams. Georgia is transitioning from Carson Beck to either redshirt junior Gunner Stockton or redshirt freshman Ryan Puglisi at quarterback, while the Georgia running game aims to improve after finishing second to last in the SEC in rushing yards per game last season.
