Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra to continue trend of disappointing batteries
While the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is still ages away, it's not too early to burst your bubble if you were hoping for battery improvements. Keeping in line with its tradition of taking it extremely slow with battery innovations, Samsung does not intend to use a big battery in its next Ultra phone.
A very reliable industry source — especially when it comes to news about upcoming Samsung products — confirmed that the Galaxy S26 Ultra will also have a disappointing battery. The phone will very likely come with yet another 5,000 mAh battery. And, if Samsung does increase the battery capacity, it will most definitely stay under 5,400 mAh. Samsung is taking it very slow with improving the batteries on its phones, in my opinion. I know that the Galaxy Note 7 disaster probably still haunts Samsung, but the company's competitors are stepping things up a notch. We have now seen various Chinese phones that have batteries as big as 7,000 mAh, usually using new dense battery technologies.
Unfortunately, it seems that Samsung does not see the importance of improved battery life. The new Galaxy S25 Edge only has a battery capacity of 3,900 mAh, something that a Samsung executive defended in a recent interview.

For example, instead of using denser batteries, Apple is apparently planning to announce battery optimization using Apple Intelligence.In addition to disappointing battery capacity, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will also retain its slow charging speeds, according to the source. The phone will likely stick to the tried and tested 45W of wired charging, which pales in comparison to Chinese phones that can go up to 120W for wired charging.
Like the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, Apple is also working on an iPhone 17 Air that it will announce later this year. As if this new obsession with slim phones with tiny batteries wasn't bad enough, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is reportedly going to have a measly 4,400 mAh battery as well.

At first, we heard that Google will honor the same August 13 unveil date as the Pixel 9 series. However, a later bit of info suggest that the launch event will be on August 20. We'll just have to wait and see. The phone is coming in July, the headphones later. The Honor 400 Pro is a solid upgrade over its predecessor, despite the similar battery size. It's a week later than previously rumored, allegedly. It's the same as last year. Huawei revealed the design of the upcoming Pura 80 Pro+, and it looks very much like its predecessor. The Pura 80 series is coming on June 11. It's less than a month away. It's powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. Huawei has also opened up Pura 80 Pro and 80 Pro+ pre-reservations in China.

AT&T customer's birthdates, social security numbers show up online in plain text
AT&T subscribers need to be on alert. Back in 2024, 86 million records belonging to customers of the nation's third-largest carrier were supposedly stolen by the ShinyHunters group. The hackers were able to take advantage of major security flaws to access and steal the data. The database might have been repackaged and has turned up twice recently on a Russian cybercrime forum. It first appeared on May 15th of this year and showed up again on June 3rd, less than a week ago, and it has been spotted on other forums since then. According to the leaked data recently posted includes data points that by themselves could help expose AT&T customers. But putting the data all together can create customer account profiles that can be used for malicious purposes. The data can be used to help the hackers commit identity theft and take other fraudulent actions. In theory, the cyber crooks could use this data to request new SIM cards and perform a SIM swap. AT&T customer records stolen in a 2024 data breach are recently posted online. | Image By putting a requested SIM card replacement into a burner phone, the hackers could take control of an AT&T customer's phone, change all of the passwords, and clean out the victim's financial accounts. The data breach covers tens of millions of AT&T customers. The data stolen in the attack and posted online includes: Full names Date of birth Phone numbers Email addresses Physical addresses 44 Million Social Security Numbers (SSN) Even though the Date of Birth and Social Security numbers were originally encrypted, they are now in plain text. If you are an AT&T customer, your social security number might have leaked making this an extremely serious threat even if this repackaged data was stolen over a year ago. ASUS ROG Xbox Ally handhelds announced
Microsoft and ASUS have announced a new range of ROG Xbox Ally handhelds. This includes the new ROG Xbox Ally X and the ROG Xbox Ally. These devices combine ASUS's hardware with an updated Windows software experience for handhelds. Starting with the hardware part, the new ROG Xbox Ally X will run on the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor while the ROG Xbox Ally gets a new Ryzen Z2 A processor. The Ally X 24GB of LPDDR5X 8000MHz memory while the Ally has 16GB LPDDR5X 6400MHz. There's 1TB storage on the Ally X while the cheaper model makes do with 512GB. Both feature a peculiar design that Microsoft claims is using the same design principles as the Xbox Wireless Controller. This results in hand grips that stick out the side rather than be integrated within the main body. On the front, the controls are similar to the previous Ally models, which themselves borrowed the layout from the Xbox controller. There is also a new Xbox button here not present on the older Ally models. The controls are similar on both models but the Ally X gets impulse triggers instead of standard hall effect analog triggers on the Ally. Both models get a 7-inch 1080p 120Hz LCD with FreeSync Premium. There's Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection on top with DXC Anti-Reflection coating. It would have been nice to see an OLED option here but it seems ASUS is sticking with its LCD panels. Both models have a two USB-C ports but while both ports support USB 3.2 Gen 2 on the Ally, the Ally X replaces one of them with USB 4. There's also a UHS-II microSD card slot and a headphone jack. Both also get Wi-Fi 6E with Bluetooth 5.4. Finally, the Ally X has a 80Wh battery while the Ally gets 60Wh. Now on to the topic of software, the ROG Xbox Ally models will ship with what is essentially a custom version of Windows. This includes a new Xbox full screen experience, which is designed for use with a controller. This also minimizes background activity and defers non-essential Windows tasks so more resources can be allocated to the games. The Xbox full screen experience doesn't just list Microsoft Store titles but also games from other stores such as Steam and Epic Games. Microsoft has announced that it is working closely with developers on a new program that helps players identify games that are optimized for handhelds, much like Valve's Steam Deck verified logo. Those who purchase the Xbox Ally devices will get Game Pass subscription for an indeterminate period. Microsoft has also worked with Roblox for a version that is optimized for gaming handhelds, which will be launching alongside these devices. Finally, there will also be Gaming Copilot, but nobody cares about that. The Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X will be available this holiday season in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
