James Gunn's New ‘Superman' Trailer Left Fans All Saying the Superhero Looks Weak

Yahoo17-05-2025

With the release of James Gunn's highly anticipated Superman film set for July 11, 2025, hopes are high from fans of the DC Universe that the film starring David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan will make waves.
While Marvel has been relatively consistent in dominating headlines in recent years, DC has put out a few strong films, but rivaling the Avengers, for example, will always prove to be a tall task. However, if there's any name capable of igniting tremendous buzz in a standalone film, it's Superman.
Although it's only a glimpse of the film, the latest trailer for the Gunn-directed movie was released on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, and unfortunately, it didn't hit home with everyone. Interestingly, many reactions echoed a similar sentiment—the belief that Superman looked weaker and got beaten up much more than expected.
"The entire trailer is filled with Superman getting his ass kicked," wrote one fan.
"Why is superman looking so vulnerable?" replied another.
"Don't he look a little freaking weak in this movie? Don't think that's Superman anymore," read another reply.
"Superman shouldn't whine like that," added a fan.
"I'm sorry but this isn't Superman. He's too regular. His outfit is all wrong. Did I mention he's too regular? Nope," added another.
"What kind of whiny trailer is this. Am I going to be seeing Superman be emotional and whiny instead of being Superman," read one comment.
The pushback from fans citing Superman's emotional reaction in many scenes from the trailer was overwhelming in the responses. While this adaptation of the Man of Steel certainly seems to have a different feel, it goes without saying that the portrayal in a trailer can be very different from the actual movie.
Based on fan reactions, let's hope that's the case here, as Superman wearing his emotions on his sleeve seems unlikely to hit home with many fans.

Warner Bros. Discovery shareholders reject CEO David Zaslav's pay package

Warner Bros. Discovery shareholders voted on Tuesday to reject the pay packages for several of the company's executives, including CEO David Zaslav's compensation package of more than $50 million. Nearly 60% of the symbolic vote was against the 2024 executive payouts at Warner Bros. Discovery's annual meeting, according to a regulatory filing. The vote is non-binding. Last year, shareholders narrowly approved executive pay, with 53% voting in favor. Warner Bros. Discovery is the parent company of CNN. Zaslav, who has been CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery since 2022, when the company was created by the merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery, Inc., was paid a total of $51.9 million last year, including equity awards and other compensation. Warner Bros. Discovery's stock (WBD) declined 7% in 2024, while media competitor Netflix (NFLX) saw its stock gain more than 80% in 2024 and Disney's stock (DIS) rose 24%. Netflix's co-CEOs, Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters, were paid $61.9 million and $60.3 million last year, respectively, while Disney's Bob Iger was paid $41.1 million. The broader S&P 500 gained over 23% last year. Warner Bros. Discovery did not respond to a request for comment.
