Marion Cotillard and Guillaume Canet have reportedly called it quits after nearly two decades together
The former French couple are parents to a son and a daughter
Cotillard and Canet said they were separating by 'common accord' and with 'mutual goodwill'Marion Cotillard and Guillaume Canet have reportedly ended their relationship after 18 years together.
The Dark Knight Rises actress, 49, and the French film director, 52, announced their separation to the Agence France-Presse news agency, saying the purpose of their statement was 'to avoid all speculation, rumors and risky interpretations,' Associated Press reported Friday, June 27.
Without citing a reason for the breakup, the former French couple said they were separating by 'common accord' and with 'mutual goodwill.'
PEOPLE was unable to reach Canet for a statement, and reps for Cotillard did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Cotillard and Canet starred opposite one another in 2003's Love Me If You Dare and began dating in 2007.
On May 19, 2011, they welcomed their first child, a son named Marcel. In March 2017, her reps confirmed to PEOPLE that Cotillard and Canet recently had a second child, a baby girl.
Cotillard's role as French singer Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose earned her an Academy Award in 2008.
She and Canet both worked with Leonardo DiCaprio — Cotillard as the Titanic alum's love interest in 2010's Inception, while Canet, who is also an actor, had a role in 2000's The Beach.
Cotillard also starred opposite Brad Pitt in the World War II romantic thriller Allied.
Their working relationship on the film sparked rumors of an alleged affair that preceded his divorce from Angelina Jolie.
While pregnant with her second child, The Morning Show actress denied the rumors in a public statement shared to her Instagram account.
'This is going to be my first and only reaction to the whirlwind news that broke 24 hours ago and that I was swept up into," she captioned her photo. "I am not used to commenting on things like this nor taking them seriously but as this situation is spiraling and affecting people I love, I have to speak up.'
'Firstly, many years ago, I met the man of my life, father of our son and of the baby we are expecting,' Cotillard wrote, referring to Canet, adding, 'He is my love, my best friend, the only one that I need.'

Before concluding and translating the same message in French, she said, 'I do very much wish that Angelina and Brad, both whom I deeply respect, will find peace in this very tumultuous moment.'
Canet also previously denied the rumors, calling out 'the venal stupidity of some people calling themselves journalists' and 'the haters' who spread the 'stupid and unfounded accusations.'

Osimhen or Isak? Gags and Grizz Break Down the Options

Liverpool Transfer Plans Heating Up: Isak, Osimhen and Ekitike in Focus as Gags and Grizz Weigh In As Liverpool navigate their most pivotal transfer window in years, the conversation around who leads the line next season is intensifying. On the latest episode of Chat G & G, Gags Tandon and Grizz Khan dived deep into the club's plans, weighing up the merits and possibilities of high-profile strikers Alexander Isak, Victor Osimhen and Hugo Ekitike. Isak: The Centrepiece of Liverpool's Summer? 'Isak is the one,' said Gags, emphatically backing the Swedish forward. 'If we do get him, that's the banger.' Grizz was equally enthused by Liverpool's intent. 'This is world record bid territory. We're prepared to make that move,' he revealed. Both agreed that Liverpool are lining up a statement signing and are ready to strike—if Newcastle United open the door. Advertisement However, Grizz raised a cautionary note on timing: 'If Isak says, 'Let me give Newcastle a Champions League run-out,' it's over. Liverpool won't wait. Not at 28.' Gags added, 'This is now or never. It's very clear we've got plans B and C, but Isak is the gem.' Osimhen: The Certified Goal Machine While Isak may be the club's top priority, the discussion pivoted compellingly to Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. Grizz labelled him 'the most certified goalscorer available right now,' while Gags passionately defended the Nigerian's character and resilience. 'People talk about his attitude, but if you've been racially abused by your own club's social media, would you just take it?' Gags said. 'Victor Osimhen is a lion, a killer. Why wouldn't you want someone with that fire in him?' Advertisement If Liverpool cannot prise Isak away from St James' Park, Osimhen may become more than just an alternative. He fits the bill physically, technically and mentally, and Grizz believes he could be 'absolutely electric' with the likes of Salah and Diaz around him. Ekitike: Raw Talent or Future Star? The wildcard in the conversation was Hugo Ekitike. While less experienced than the others, the former PSG striker was cited by Gags as 'one for the future.' He noted Liverpool's ability to scout talent just before it explodes: 'They want to go for the real deal, but if that doesn't happen, they go for the next best… younger, more room to grow.' Grizz, however, wasn't sold on Ekitike as a standalone solution. 'We're not bringing in two number nines. If we go for Ekitike, it cannot be at the expense of a proven starter.' Ruthless Rebuild Under Slot What stood out most in this Chat G & G instalment was the club's intent to act like a heavyweight in the market. 'This is what you call succession planning, future-proofing for the next four or five years,' Gags declared. 'We've got the funds, the project and the vision. The only thing left is the execution.' Advertisement Grizz, while usually measured, agreed: 'We've said for years, 'When will we act like a big club?' The time is now.' As the Liverpool faithful await official movement, the names of Isak, Osimhen and Ekitike remain at the heart of a potential frontline evolution. And if Gags and Grizz are right, the Reds aren't just buying players this summer—they're building a new identity.

'My bridesmaid got engaged on my wedding day - I was absolutely gobsmacked'

A woman who called off her wedding due to a cheating partner was left 'gobsmacked' when her best friend got engaged on what was meant to be her 'big day'. She revealed it had happened in Italy - where the nuptials were due to take place - as some of the would-be guests had decided to fly over anyway due to everything being 'booked and paid for'. While she was pleased for her pal, who had been given a bridesmaid role, she couldn't help that feel the timing was 'insensitive'. READ MORE: Calls for UK Government to issue 'WW3 survival guide' as expert shares list of essential supplies The Mumsnet user shared her feelings on the matter in a post titled 'Bridesmaid got engaged on my wedding day...' The full post read: "I had to cancel my wedding four months ago due to my partner cheating with numerous women. "My wedding should have been Saturday just gone in Italy. Some of the wedding party decided to go ahead with the weekend anyway as it was all booked and paid for (flights, Airbnbs, etc), which I was fine with as they has paid a big expense to attend. "My best friend (and bridesmaid) was one of these guests and she contacted me via Facetime yesterday to tell me her boyfriend proposed on Saturday (which should have been my wedding day) on the beach in Italy. "I was absolutely gobsmacked and replied saying I was pleased for her but I needed time to process the news and ended the call. "I am happy for her but I do feel it's totally insensitive and I'm in total shock. How do I move past this?" Many of the people who replied insisted the pal wasn't to blame. One said: "Was she supposed to turn him down because of the date? Or just not tell you? "I can understand why you'd be a bit sad about it, but she's not really done anything wrong." A second wrote: "Her boyfriend proposed. Should she have said no? "I'm not sure she could have done much if it was a surprise proposal. If you're upset speak to her fiancé." A third chipped in: "So she got engaged on a day that you're not even getting married on anymore? "I thought you were going to say they got down on one knee or something in the middle of the photo taking bit or something. Now THAT would have been a bit more unreasonable." A fourth reply read: "She didn't get engaged on your wedding day. "I'm sorry to hear that you've had such a tough time, but she really hasn't done anything wrong." Offering some advice, another said: "It's better if you stop thinking of it as your wedding day, as it wasn't. "You're better off without him, don't lose friends over him too." A more sympathetic forum user said: "Your friend should have shown more tact in how she told you. "She didn't need to FaceTime you to tell you this news given it was meant to have been your wedding day. "She could have sent you a brief message to update you so you could collect your thoughts and respond when you were ready, there's plenty of people who could have been able to take that call to celebrate the news in that moment and it shouldn't have been you. "I'm sorry for what you've been through. Well done for leaving the cheat before marriage."

What's Next for Denis Villeneuve's Bond Movie? Amazon's Wishlist Includes Jacob Elordi, Tom Holland and Harris Dickinson

In the 2021 film 'No Time to Die,' Daniel Craig repeats one of the James Bond franchise's most enduring lines to Léa Seydoux: 'We have all the time in the world.' Well, not quite. More from Variety Amazon MGM Partners With Sony Pictures for International Theatrical Distribution Under New Multi-Year Deal Denis Villeneuve to Direct James Bond Film at Amazon Amazon MGM Studios' United Artists, Scott Stuber Board Action-Thriller 'The Seventh Man' From 'Carry On' Writer T.J. Fixman (EXCLUSIVE) Now that Amazon has tapped Denis Villeneuve as the franchise's next director, the pace is about to accelerate significantly on the 26th outing of James Bond. Even still, Amazon is looking at a 2028 release date for Bond 26. Anything sooner would be impossible to pull off, given the film's scale, sources say. Amazon declined to comment for this story. French-Canadian helmer Villeneuve beat out four European directors — Edward Berger, Edgar Wright, Paul King and Jonathan Nolan — for the coveted job. Now, Amazon will move fast to attach a writer, and then an actor who will slip into Agent 007's shoes. Insiders say that the studio and producers are interested in casting a British actor under the age of 30, with Jacob Elordi ('Saltburn'), Tom Holland ('Spider-Man') and Harris Dickinson ('Babygirl') at the top of the list. (Elordi is Australian, but that would not be a deal-breaker as far as Amazon is concerned; remember Aussie George Lazenby starred in 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service.') While there has been speculation that Aaron Taylor-Johnson or Henry Cavill would be possible heirs to Craig, they are 35 and 42, respectively, and thus unlikely to fit the mandate. So, too, is fan-favorite Idris Elba, 52, who has ducked Bond speculation for years. (No meetings have happened at this stage.) Alfonso Cuarón was an early contender to direct, and Bond producer David Heyman pushed hard to make that happen, given that the two had worked together on the third 'Harry Potter' movie. But Cuarón removed himself from competition, choosing to focus on other projects, including the Charlize Theron-starrer 'Jane.' That film, which is also on a fast track at Amazon, is awaiting a draft of the script from Jack Thorne, who penned the 'Enola Holmes' trilogy. (It is unclear if Cuarón would direct or only produce 'Jane.') Initially, Amazon was very interested in Christopher Nolan, who is Jonathan's brother, even if that meant breaking a decades-long rule of not allowing a Bond director to have final cut. Until now, the Broccoli family held tight control of the franchise's creative direction, and ultimately had final say. But Barbara Broccoli and her half-brother, Michael Wilson, relinquished the reins earlier this year and now have only a financial stake in the property. Either way, Nolan is tied up on his next project, 'The Odyssey,' which stars Holland, for at least a year. Villeneuve is currently quite busy, too, planning to film 'Dune: Messiah' later this year to make an expected December 2026 release date. For his part, Villeneuve has a one-off deal on Bond, meaning he is not locked in for a sequel, and does not have final cut. The last director to helm two Bond films back to back was Sam Mendes with 2012's 'Skyfall' and 2015's 'Spectre.' Amazon has a short list of writers who will chart the future course for the man with the license to kill as he makes his debut with Amazon after decades at MGM. One scenario making the rounds is that Jonathan Nolan, whose take on the material was enthusiastically received at Amazon, would write the screenplay. Though Nolan has a close relationship with the studio via the series 'Fallout,' sources say he is not available to write.
