When
Michael Jordan
declared his return to the NBA scene —not as a player, but as a special contributor for NBC's upcoming NBA coverage — rumors began to swirl. The most outrageous? That NBC had enticed the Chicago Bulls legend back with an unbelievable $40 million per year deal, making him the highest-paid sports analyst ever.
But is that figure correct? Let's distinguish fact from fiction.
Michael Jordan's new NBC role and What's has been confirmed so far
NBC revealed on May 12, 2025, that Michael Jordan will be part of its NBA broadcast team as a special contributor when the network gets back the NBA broadcasting rights for the 2025–26 season through an 11-year, $76 billion agreement. Jordan shared his enthusiasm, saying, 'I am so excited to see the NBA back on NBC.'
Another thing to note is that the specifics of Jordan's position are not entirely clear.
Reports suggest that his main contributions will be pre-recorded segments shown during pregame and halftime, rather than live commentary. This limited role has sparked questions about the legitimacy of the reported $40 million annual pay.
If the $40 million number is right, it would beat Tom Brady's $37.5 million yearly deal with Fox Sports, making Jordan the highest-paid sports analyst ever. But, neither NBC nor Jordan's team has verified this figure.

Considering Jordan's small role and his lack of experience in broadcasting, experts in the industry are doubtful about how accurate this number really is.
Additionally, with Jordan's impressive net worth—around $3.5 billion, thanks to his thriving partnership with Nike's Air Jordan brand and various other business endeavors—the financial aspect might not be the main reason he's coming back to the NBA limelight.
It looks like NBC is using Jordan to attract old fans and grow their audience for NBA games. Since he spent a large part of his playing career with NBC, watching the network replay all six of his Chicago Bulls titles feels nostalgic for fans who have followed him closely.
Even though the precise information regarding Jordan's role and salary is not public, his engagement is likely to improve NBC's NBA coverage, which will also showcase notable figures like Mike Tirico, Noah Eagle, Jamal Crawford, Reggie Miller, and Carmelo Anthony.
Michael Jordan's return to the NBA as a special contributor for NBC has created a lot of excitement. However, the claim that he's making $40 million a year hasn't been verified and seems a bit off considering his expected role.

While fans are eager to see his contributions to the broadcasts, the actual details of his contract are still a bit of a mystery. Right now, Jordan's return is a symbol of the link between the NBA's legendary past and its lively future, reigniting passion among basketball lovers.

Donald Trump says relationship with Musk is 'over', warns Tesla boss would face 'serious consequence' if...

President Donald Trump and Elon Musk's tussle has reached an all-time high, with the GOP's sweeping budget bill being at the epicentre of it all. Trump on Saturday claimed that there would be 'serious consequences' for Elon Musk if he considered backing Democratic Party candidates and funding them to run against Republicans who vote in favor of the bill. 'If he does, he'll have to pay the consequences for that,' Trump was quoted as telling NBC News. However, he has not yet disclosed what those consequences would be. Musk and Trump had a massive fallout with the tech mogul departing from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), his joint project, which aimed at reducing federal expenses through extensive means. DOGE had made major headway in cutting down federal expenditure till Musk decided to part ways with the Trump administration, and has gone all berserk, even criticizing Trump publicly on social media. According to NBC, the President clearly stated that he has no desire to mend his relationship with Musk after the ongoing feud went into the public view for the entire week. When asked whether his relationship with Musk is over, Trump responded, saying,'I would assume so, yeah,' according to NBC. The President also asserted that he had no intention of speaking with Musk anytime soon, as he is too busy doing other things. Trump also claimed that the SpaceX CEO is currently being 'disrespectful to the office of the President.' 'I think it's a very bad thing, because he's very disrespectful. You could not disrespect the office of the President,' Trump was quoted as saying. Earlier on Thursday, he had expressed his disappointment regarding Musk's opposition to his "big, beautiful bill", especially considering that the X CEO already knew the workings of the bill well in advance. 'I'm very disappointed because Elon knew the inner workings of this bill. I'm very disappointed in Elon. I've helped Elon a lot," Trump said.

Steph Curry's shocked reaction to Luka Doncic's trade to rival Los Angeles Lakers: ‘They must be coming for us too'

Luka Doncic's trade to the Los Angeles Lakers was arguably the most sensational move in NBA history, as a young superstar got moved away from a team he had played for throughout his career in the league. It was a trade which caused waves all across social media and the basketball world, with not even the best of the best exempt from total shock regarding the news. Doncic joined LeBron James at the Lakers, further heating up the Californian rivalry between the Lakers and the Golden State Warriors. So sensational was the move that it left Warriors legend and star Stephen Curry reeling from the news. Curry's long-time teammate Draymond Green reflected on how the news went down when it was announced by NBA insider Shams Charania, an X post that shook the basketball landscape. Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel's talk-show, Green revealed how exactly it went down. 'I'm at this [charity poker] tournament and I sit down, 15 minutes later Steph yells 'Draymond! You seen the trade?' He's like Luka got traded,' explained Green regarding the situation. 'There's this video of us reacting. I couldn't believe it, you know, superstars at 25 don't get traded. Luka's a mega-star just coming off the NBA Finals. You just don't see that in the NBA. I immediately wondered, I have to be next, they must be coming for us too.' Green and Curry have teamed up for four NBA titles, three in a space of four years between 2015 and 2018, and most recently in 2022. Despite seeing everything that basketball has to offer, watching a true superstar cross over without any trade demands, and especially from a successful team, was something that caught them off guard. It wasn't the only high-profile trade discussed at that charity poker tournament, with Green also speaking about how a potential Kevin Durant return to Golden State was in the pipeline at that point in time. 'Joe Lakob, majority owner of the Warriors tells me 'Draymond, we got Kevin Durant, it's happening, it's at the finish line.' I'm like oh man, let's go. He comes running back to me two minutes later saying 'Draymond, Draymond, I'm not supposed to say anything. Don't tell anyone else,'' explained Green, who had a famous fallout with Durant which led to the superstar's move away from the Warriors after winning two championships in Oakland.
