Fatima Sana Shaikh Recalls Terrifying In-Flight Seizures: 'They Gave Me A Chemical...'
Last Updated:
Fatima Sana Shaikh shared her epilepsy journey, revealing a severe seizure episode on a flight that halted her work on Sam Bahadur and Dhak Dhak.
Actor Fatima Sana Shaikh, who's starring in Metro… In Dino and Aap Jaisa Koi, has courageously opened up about her epilepsy journey, sharing a dramatic incident that changed her life during a flight. In a heartfelt conversation with Humans of Bombay, she recalled,
'I had a major episode when I had multiple seizures. I was travelling to the USA and it was via Dubai flight. I got seizures on the flight. Then I was taken to the airport hospitals, I was given the medication but then also my seizures weren't stopping, then they give me a very high dose," she said.
Fatima said she was given strong medications to stop the seizures, leaving her heavily sedated and immobile. She recalled, 'They gave me a certain chemical and I was already on a different chemical. So in epilepsy you have to wean off one chemical before you can take another one. So, I was so drugged out."
This medical emergency forced her to halt production on two major projects—Sam Bahadur and Dhak Dhak. She added, 'I was shooting for Sam Bahadur and I was also doing another film with it, I think Dhak Dhak. I had to cancel shoot, one of the guy called me and asked me if I can shoot and I started crying because I couldn't get out of the bed."
Fatima said the episode was a moment of reckoning. 'I couldn't get out of the bed. I was constantly dropped out. My emotions were all over the place. I was like this is my reality now. At that time I accepted that this is my disease and people also should know about it as it will help others," said the actress.
She credits support groups and open conversations for her improved health. 'I got help from conversations and support groups, and now I am very much stable, and I haven't gotten an episode since a while now."
Fatima will be next seen in Aap Jaisa Koi alongside R Madhavan.

Ram Kapoor says he has earned enough money to support four generations, bought Rs 5 crore Lamborghini ‘without thinking'
Ram Kapoor became a household name after his roles in Kasam Se and Bade Ache Lagte Hai. Being among one of the highest-paid television stars of his generation, Ram Kapoor has collected several luxury cars, including Mercedes-AMG G63, BMW X5, a Porsche, a Ferrari, and most recently, a Lamborghini Urus worth approximately Rs 5.21 crore. The actor recently shared that he has earned enough money for at least four generations, and can afford expensive things 'without thinking' too much about it. In an interview with Humans of Bombay, the actor said, 'I have always been crazy petrol-head. I have really been into cars and bikes. People who are into cars and bikes like me, and people who can afford it, they mostly have these collections. The difference is mine is talked about, while my friends who have better collections than me are not in the public eye, because they mostly belong to the corporate world, theirs are not talked about. So if someone is a petrol-head like me, once you can afford it without thinking, you will have it because I don't like spending money on anything except that.' He added, 'Watches and cars are the only things I love, so people who can afford these watches they have fantastic watch collections. It's just that a lot of people who have it, they like to keep quiet about it. Even we want to keep quiet but unfortunately because I am in the public eye, the media gets to know about it. Yes, I do have a car collection. I have a Ferrari, a Porsche but the thing is we don't like to show it off.' 'When I bought the Lamborghini, I had clearly told the dealer that don't put press there. However, they had their in-house photographer. Now, the minute they uploaded it on their site, the media took it. How can I stop this? I am lucky that I can afford all this.' In the same interview, Ram Kapoor claimed that he along with his fellow actors like Sakshi Tanwar and Ronit Roy have earned enough for at least four generations. He said, 'It is not that television actors make as much as film actors. But if you have a hit show which lasts for 7-8 years and if you are at the top of television or making a lot of money, your per month cheque is equal to your salary for 8 years. People like me, Sakshi and Ronit, if you have been on television for 20 years and are sensible then you have made enough for at least 3-4 generations.' While Ram Kapoor invests his time and money in buying fancy cars and luxury watches, his wife Gautami Kapoor guides him when it comes to fashion. 'I do wear brands and all that but most of it is curated by my wife. She often suggests me new collections and trends.' According to reports, the actor owns a massive house in Mumbai, and also is the owners of lavish properties in Goa and Khandala. Apart from these, the actor also owns a vacation property in Alibaug worth Rs 20 crore.

‘Sakshi Tanwar has enough money for six generations, Ronit Roy has villas and vacation homes': Ram Kapoor opens up about TV wealth
With popular television shows like Kasamh Se, Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, and others, Ram Kapoor became a household name in India. In a recent interaction, he opened up about the remuneration television actors receive and how, if managed wisely, it can help them accumulate wealth for generations. He cited the examples of top TV actors like Ronit Roy and Sakshi Tanwar, highlighting how, thanks to their sensibile investments, they've made significant financial gains from television. During an interaction with Humans of Bombay, Ram admitted that while many actors have maintained healthy bank balances, there were also some top actors in the industry who squandered their earnings and have since disappeared. 'When you make it to the top like Ronit Roy, Sakshi, and me, and you are sensible with your investments… there were a lot of people who had hit shows, but they spent more money than they should, and when that show shut down and they didn't get another show. They did not do well and disappeared,' he said. Lauding Ronit for his sharp financial acumen and smart investment decisions, he shared, 'People like a Ronit… he has a lot of houses, vacation homes, and such a fantastic villa in Goa. He has been sensible because he started in films and he didn't make it in films. He was a flop actor in films and he didn't have money to eat. Then Ektaa Kapoor took him on. In television, he never looked back. He had seen failure so when he got success, he respected it from day one.' Like Ronit, Ram praised his Bade Achhe Lagte Hain co-star Sakshi Tanwar and added, 'Same for Sakshi. She is a very sensible girl. She doesn't like fancy cars like I do. She has enough money for six generations because she spends it very wisely. If you spend money wisely, then you will have money for a lot of things in television.' While Ronit made a name with hit shows like Kasautii Zindagi Kay, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Sakshi is known for her lead role in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii and Bade Achhe Lagte Hain. In the same interview, he said that he has made enough money for multiple future generations of his family, and that he would earn eight years' worth of a regular person's salary in just one month on TV.
