
Andhra govt, ISRO ink five-year deal to leverage space tech for citizen services
Andhra Pradesh is partnering with ISRO to integrate space technology into its governance through a five-year MoU between the state's Real Time Governance System (RTGS) and Sathish Dhawan Space Centre (SHAR). This collaboration will enhance the AWARE platform with satellite imagery and scientific data, benefiting various sectors like agriculture, disaster management, and urban planning.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has said his government has partnered with ISRO to leverage space tech for real-time citizen-centric governance.The Chief Minister on Monday noted that the southern state's Real Time Governance System (RTGS) inked a five-year deal with Sathish Dhawan Space Centre (SHAR) to enhance AWARE platform with satellite imagery and scientific inputs."In a landmark step in leveraging space tech for real-time citizen-centric governance, a 5-year MoU was signed between SHAR (ISRO) and RTGS today, in the presence of SHAR Director Mr Rajarajan," said Naidu in a post on X.As part of this collaboration, satellite imagery and scientific inputs will be fed into the AWARE platform over 42 applications spanning agriculture, weather, disaster management, urban planning and so on."AWARE integrates data from satellites, drones, IoT , sensors, mobile feeds, and CCTV to deliver real-time alerts and advisories to citizens and the government via SMS, WhatsApp, and media and social media," Naidu added.

The annual programme attracted 350 students representing various states and union territories across India. This educational initiative aims to stimulate scientific interest among school students by providing direct engagement with space science, technology, and applications through lectures, discussions, and visits to laboratories. The Chandigarh representatives included Osheen Maleri of Carmel Convent School, Ayushmann Chathli of RIMT World School, Arshiya Thakur from Ankur School, Shreyas Shahi, a student of the PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya 3BRD, Mohammad Sahl Siddiqui of Delhi Public School, Sanat Kumar of Tender Heart High School, and Raghav of PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya. The Young Scientist Programme represents Isro's initiative to encourage interest in STEM subjects amongst school students and identify promising talent for India's future space endeavours.

Andhra Pradesh Cabinet approves establishment of state Quantum Mission
The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet on Wednesday approved the establishment of a state Quantum Mission, Minister K Parthasarathy announced. The decision was taken during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. Addressing the media at the Secretariat, the Information and Public Relations Minister said the proposal was put forth by the Department of IT, Electronics and Communications and aims to align with India's broader National Quantum Mission (NQM). A Quantum Valley will be developed in the capital city of Amaravati, with 50 acres of land earmarked for the project. "In future, Andhra Pradesh will be on top in the world in quantum computing. From schools to universities, all of them will be involved in training," Parthasarathy said. The state government has formed a committee of experts on quantum computing to guide the mission. The initiative seeks to embed quantum-related training across education levels, from schools to higher education institutions. What is the National Quantum Mission? The National Quantum Mission is a central government initiative aimed at advancing quantum technology and applications in India. Approved at a total outlay of ₹6,003.65 crore, it runs from 2023–24 to 2030–31 and supports infrastructure, research, and human resource development.
