NEW DELHI:
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd
reported a 13.34 per cent year-on-year increase in
consolidated net profit
to Rs 3,541.85 crore for the fourth quarter ending March 31, 2025, up from Rs 3,124.94 crore in the same period last fiscal. The performance was driven by robust growth in its
automotive and farm equipment
segments.
Consolidated revenue from operations for the quarter rose to Rs 42,585.67 crore, marking a strong 20.4 per cent increase from Rs 35,373.34 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Total expenses also climbed to Rs 39,113.61 crore, up from Rs 32,172.17 crore.
For the full fiscal year FY25, Mahindra & Mahindra posted a consolidated profit after tax of Rs 14,073.17 crore, a 14.7 per cent rise over Rs 12,269.82 crore in FY24.
Consolidated revenue surged to Rs 1,58,749.75 crore from Rs 1,38,279.30 crore.
The company's auto segment continued its growth trajectory with Q4 sales volume rising 18 per cent to 2.53-lakh units, including 1.49-lakh SUVs. Tractor sales also recorded a robust 23 per cent jump to 87,138 units, contributing to a Q4
market share
high of 41.2 per cent in the segment.
Electric vehicle
traction also gained momentum, with over 6,300 units of its new EVs – the EV 9e and BE 6 – delivered within just over a month.
While urban demand showed signs of pressure, rural markets remained a key growth driver.
Looking ahead, Mahindra is targeting a ramp-up in monthly vehicle output from 61,500 to 85,000 units by the end of FY26, pushing its annual installed capacity beyond one million units. It also aims to increase production capacity for its XUV3X0 and Thar ROXX models by 3,000 units this fiscal, while Chakan, Pune, will see an additional 1.2-lakh unit platform capacity.
A new passenger vehicle manufacturing plant is planned to be operational by March 31, 2028. While the location is yet to be finalised, financial provisions have been made as part of the company's capital expenditure. The plant will focus primarily on passenger vehicles, though it may support other segments depending on future strategy and state-level incentives.
A new vehicle platform will be unveiled on August 15, 2025.
By 2030, the company aims to have a diversified portfolio that includes ICE SUVs, five battery electric vehicles (BEVs), and five light commercial vehicles (LCVs).
The board has recommended a final dividend of Rs 25.30 per share, reflecting the company's strong cash generation of nearly Rs 10,000 crore in FY25, as highlighted by Group CFO Amarjyoti Barua.
Group CEO & Managing Director Anish Shah attributed the strong results to excellent execution and continued gains in market share and profitability across the automotive and farm equipment sectors. "We have delivered strong growth on the back of stellar execution in F25. Auto and Farm continue to gain market share and expand profitability. TechM is making commendable progress towards its dual objectives of strengthening client positioning and margin expansion," he said.

India's agri sector transformed by five-fold budget surge over 11 years: Govt

India's agricultural sector has undergone a "profound transformation" over the past 11 years through various government schemes and increased budgetary allocations, empowering farmers to lead the nation from food security to global food leadership , the government said on Saturday. The transformation has focused on inclusivity by supporting small farmers, women-led groups and allied sectors while positioning India as a global agricultural leader, according to an official statement. "Over the past eleven years, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, India's agricultural sector has undergone a profound transformation, rooted in the philosophy of Beej Se Bazaar Tak (seed to market)," the government said. Budget estimates for the Department of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare have risen from Rs 27,663 crore in 2013-14 to Rs 1,37,664.35 crore in 2024-25, an increase of nearly five times, it added. The government has also increased minimum support prices (MSP) significantly. MSP for wheat rose from Rs 1,400 per quintal in 2013-14 to Rs 2,425 per quintal in 2024-25, while paddy prices increased from Rs 1,310 per quintal in 2013-14 to Rs 2,369 per quintal in 2025-26. Under the PM-KISAN scheme launched in February 2019, the government has disbursed Rs 3.7 lakh crore to more than 110 million farmers. The Kisan Credit Card scheme has provided about Rs 10 lakh crore in credit to 7.71 crore farmers. Procurement data shows improvement across crops. Kharif crop procurement totalled 787.1 million tonnes between FY15 and FY25 compared to 467.9 million tonnes in the previous decade from 2004-05 to 2013-14. Pulses procurement at MSP increased significantly from 1,52,000 tonnes during 2009-2014 to 8.3 million tonnes during 2020-2025, while oilseeds procurement at MSP increased multifold over the past 11 years. The government's approach has focused on modern irrigation, credit access, digital marketplaces and agri-tech innovations while reviving traditional practices like millet cultivation and natural farming. Allied sectors, including dairy and fisheries, are also expanding. "As India enters Amrit Kaal, its empowered farmers stand ready to lead the nation from food security to global food leadership," the statement said.

FPIs pull Rs 8,749 crore from stock market in June's first week; sharp reversal after RBI rate cut; NSDL data shows

NEW DELHI: Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) displayed negative investment patterns in the stock market during the initial week of June. FPIs withdrew a total of Rs 8,749 crore from equities between June 2 and June 6, according to NSDL data. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now This shows that FPIs remained net sellers in the stock market for most of the week. The outflow occurred during a period of global uncertainty and investor caution. A sharp shift was seen on Friday after the Reserve Bank of India's Monetary Policy Committee unexpectedly cut the repo rate by 50 basis points. The repo rate decreased to 5.5%, strengthening investor confidence. Financial analysts suggest that this substantial rate reduction will enhance India's economic performance and strengthen demand conditions. "June first week saw a roller coaster in terms of FPI flows. The trend is positive as a weak US dollar is inversely correlated to EM flows," Banking and Market expert Ajay Bagga told ANI. "With Indian macro showing strength and expectations of the 100 bps rate cuts providing a further boost to economic momentum and aggregate demand, FPIs will rank India as a top investment destination. Valuations are quoted as a constraint but we see the growth potential overriding these concerns eventually," Bagga added. Despite concerns about elevated stock market valuations, analysts indicate that India's robust growth outlook could help address this issue. May recorded positive net foreign portfolio investment (FPI) inflows of Rs 19,860 crore, establishing it as the strongest month for foreign investment so far this year. In contrast, FPIs had sold equities worth Rs 3,973 crore in March, while January and February saw even higher outflows of Rs 78,027 crore and Rs 34,574 crore, respectively.

Why Parle-G Costs Rs 2,300 In Gaza? Viral Video Reveals Food Crisis Plight

A video going viral of a Palestinian dad handing over a packet of India's favourite Parle-G biscuits to his daughter has highlighting the severe food crisis in Gaza, where the cost of the biscuit has risen to Rs 2,300 because of the ongoing Israel-Palestine war. Viral Video Sparks Global Attention On June 6, a resident of Gaza named Mohammed Jawad uploaded a video on X wherein he is giving his daughter, Rafif, a packet of Parle-G, her favourite biscuit. In the caption, Jawad had written, "After a long wait, I finally got Rafif her favourite biscuits today. Even though the price jumped from €1.5 to over €24, I just couldn't deny Rafif her favourite treat." The video, which showed the outrageous price tag of the otherwise low-priced biscuit, went viral, leaving viewers who were used to Parle-G's usual Rs 100 price point in foreign markets speechless. June 1, 2025 Food Scarcity Drives Price Surge The Gaza conflict has resulted in critical food shortages, with prices of common items such as Parle-G taking a dramatic rise. Normally costing Rs 100 for a packet worldwide, the biscuit is now available for up to Rs 2,342 in Gaza because of low availability and broken import channels. The crisis has rendered even staple items scarce, worsening the plight of civilians in the conflict area. Online Reactions And Calls For Aid The clip elicited mass reactions on X, with people shocked and empathising. A user named India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, pleading, "The baby is having India's favourite biscuit. May we send more Parle-G to Palestine? These are glucose biscuits and will ease the civilian population." Another said, "Rafif deserves all the biscuits she wants, be safe family," capturing the emotional impact of the story. Wider Gaza Crisis Context The Parle-G price hike reflected the wider humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where conflict has ravaged food supply chains, driving up prices and leaving families scrambling to afford even basic foodstuffs. As matters deteriorate, demands for international intervention, including food aid, remain on the increase. Parle Products, the manufacturer of Parle-G, has yet to make a comment on the viral video or the Gaza situation. This article will be updated if a statement is made.
