College World Series bracket: Schedule, matchups for 2025 NCAA baseball championship

The biggest stage in college baseball, the one that hundreds of teams across the country begin their seasons dreaming about in the dead of winter, is finally here. With the end of the super regional round of the 2025 NCAA tournament, which wrapped up Monday with Murray State's 5-4 win against Duke, the eight-team field for the College World Series has been set, with festivities beginning on June 13 from Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska. Five of the eight teams remaining in the national championship hunt are national seeds, a group led by No. 3 Arkansas, which is seeking its first ever CWS title. Unlike last year, when the field was evenly split with four SEC teams and four ACC teams, seven different conferences are represented in the 2025 CWS, including Oregon State, which played as an independent program this season following the dissolution of the Pac-12. Here's a look at the College World Series bracket, including matchups, teams and the schedule: College World Series matchups The 2025 College World Series will open with four games. The winners of those games will advance to play one another while the losers will do the same, with the latter aiming to avoid elimination with a second loss. College World Series 2025: Schedule, bracket, format and how to watch prestigious NCAA tournament

One thing is guaranteed at the 2025 College World Series: A new champion will be crowned. For the first time in the super regional era, no team that reached the College World Series in 2024 will appear in the tournament this year. That's quite the turnaround, and should guarantee the field is more wide open than it's been in recent years, especially after reigning champion Tennessee was eliminated Sunday. Advertisement With the event completely up for grabs, which team will rise to the occasion and win it all? Here's everything you need to know about the 2025 College World Series. College World Series schedule The 2025 College World Series will begin Friday, June 13, and run through Monday, June 23 at the latest. Two games are scheduled each day from Friday, June 13 through Wednesday, June 18. The first game will start at 2 p.m. ET each of those days, with the second game starting at 7 p.m. ET. The College World Series has not released which teams will play in those games yet. If necessary, games will be played Thursday, June 19, ahead of the finals. Possible times have not been announced if games need to be played Thursday. Advertisement Game 1 of the finals is slated for Saturday, June 21 at 7 p.m. ET. Game 2 is scheduled for the following day, Sunday, June 22, at 2:30 p.m. ET. If a Game 3 is necessary, it will be played Monday, June 23, at 7:30 p.m. ET. College World Series bracket Here's how the men's 2025 College World Series bracket sits after play on Monday. Louisville (40-22) faces Oregon St. (47-14-1): Game 1, Friday at 7 p.m. ET Arizona (44-19) will take on Coastal Carolina (53-11): Game 1, Friday at 2 p.m. ET UCLA (47-16) is matched up against Murray State (44-15): Game 1, Saturday at 2 p.m. ET LSU (48-15) will play Arkansas (48-13): Game 1, Saturday at 7 p.m. ET Six of eight teams made it to the College World Series on Sunday, while Coastal Carolina was the first team to advance on Saturday. The final spot was claimed by Murray State with a win over Duke on Monday night. The Racers will play UCLA in the first round of the 2025 College World Series. College World Series location Since 1950, the College World Series has been held in Omaha, Nebraska. The event used to take place at the Rosenblatt Stadium. It shifted to Charles Schwab Field Omaha starting in 2011, and will be held there again this year. Advertisement When the event first started in 1947, it was held in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The College World Series was played in Kalamazoo for two years before it moved to Wichita, Kansas, in 1949. How many teams are in the College World Series? A total of eight teams advance to play in the College World Series in Omaha. Those eight teams are determined after a 64-team tournament featuring NCAA DI schools. Those final eight teams then play in two brackets, with the winners facing off in a best-of-three series in the finals. Is the College World Series double elimination? The College World Series is a double-elimination tournament. That means a team must lose two games before it's eliminated. Teams that lose their first-round games are put in an elimination bracket. One team eventually emerges from that bracket to play against the undefeated team in their bracket. An undefeated team must lose twice to get eliminated, which is why "if necessary" games are scheduled for June 19. If an undefeated team gets upset in Game 1, the second game will likely occur on June 19. Advertisement Once the finals begin, the two remaining teams will play a best-of-three series. The team that wins two games will be the champion. College World Series channel, how to watch 2025 event ESPN will broadcast nearly every single game of the College World Series. There are a few exceptions in 2025, however. The 7 p.m. ET game on Sunday, June 15, will air over on ESPN2, likely due to "Sunday Night Baseball." Game 2 of the finals will air on ABC. That contest is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, June 22. If a Game 3 is necessary in the finals, ESPN will broadcast that game.

Rajon Rondo gets thrown into Knicks head coach search

The post Rajon Rondo gets thrown into Knicks head coach search appeared first on ClutchPoints. The New York Knicks' search for a new head coach continues to generate buzz following the firing of Tom Thibodeau on Tuesday. Among the latest names floated is former NBA point guard Rajon Rondo, who was suggested by ESPN analyst Jay Williams during Wednesday's broadcast of Get Up on ESPN. Advertisement Williams acknowledged that Rondo lacks formal head coaching experience but emphasized the respect Rondo commands across the league for his basketball IQ and leadership. 'I'm going to give a dark horse guys and I'm sure everybody's going to react to it because he has no head coaching experience,' Williams said. 'But if you ask any NBA player how they feel about Rajon Rondo they always talk about how brilliant of an IQ that he has. And the fact that defensively, offensively he's great at building schemes on the fly. Ask Doc Rivers on those championship teams that he's won.' Rondo, 38, retired from the NBA in 2024 after a 16-year career that included stints with the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, and several other franchises. He won two NBA championships — one with Boston in 2008 and another with the Lakers in 2020. His career accolades include four All-Star selections, an All-NBA Third Team nod, five All-Defensive Team honors, and multiple statistical titles, including three for assists and one for steals. Rajon Rondo's coaching interest resurfaces as Knicks weigh options Williams noted Rondo's potential value to the Knicks given his knowledge of the Eastern Conference and his potential to elevate Jalen Brunson's game. Advertisement 'I'm not saying he's going to win,' Williams added, 'But I definitely think that's a name that people should consider to be an NBA head coach at this level because of his familiarity in the Eastern Conference and because of unlocking other guards in Jalen Brunson.' Rondo has previously expressed interest in coaching but had postponed formal steps in that direction to focus on raising his children. He participated in training camp with Doc Rivers and the Milwaukee Bucks ahead of the 2024–25 season as a guest coach and was expected to remain around the team throughout the year. Thibodeau was dismissed after five seasons with a 226-174 regular-season record and a 24-23 mark in the playoffs. His tenure included four playoff appearances and the franchise's first Eastern Conference Finals berth since 2000. He previously served as an assistant under former Knicks coach Jeff Van Gundy from 1996 to 2001. Van Gundy was also mentioned during Wednesday's Get Up by ESPN's Brian Windhorst, who suggested the Knicks should consider a potential reunion. Advertisement As the coaching search unfolds, Rondo joins a growing and varied list of candidates as the Knicks explore their next step.
