Immersive ‘Van Gogh Alive' exhibition returns to Hong Kong
Vincent van Gogh is a towering figure in the art world. His post-Impressionist sunflowers and nightscapes, at the time revolutionary for their bold colours and heavy impasto, are today familiar to all. The tumultuous story of his life, however, from struggling with mental health and poverty, to infamously cutting off part of his left ear, puts him in the top tier of tortured-artist stereotypes.

One of the more thorough exhibitions to dissect the painter's life and art is 'Van Gogh Alive – The Experience', which returns to Hong Kong after six years, having travelled to more than 100 cities worldwide. Combining art with cutting-edge technology, this iteration, at the K11 Atelier King's Road in Quarry Bay, presents about 3,000 paintings through modern projection techniques. The Starry Night and Wheatfield with Crows are blown up across giant screens using the Sensory 4 system, which combines motion graphics, allowing visitors to appreciate every brushstroke in minute detail. It's as close as you'll get to stepping into a painting by the Dutch master.

Starting March 10, the exhibition goes beyond visual stimulation by also incorporating auditory and olfactory elements. Classical scores from greats such as Schubert and Bach suffuse the exhibition with a sense of grandeur in cinema-quality surround sound, while aromatic elements designed with top, middle and base notes evoke scents related to van Gogh's paintings – whether it's the fragrance of
Sunflowers or the crisp air of The Starry Night.

'Van Gogh Alive' also encourages participation through interpretive areas. Visitors can step into a life-size replica of Bedroom in Arles, interact with art stations that offer drawing tutorials, and gain insights into van Gogh's life through large-scale graphics and quotes.

Those who fancy themselves as subjects of van Gogh's paintbrush can now bring their dream to life thanks to AI Van Gogh, a new initiative that uses artificial intelligence to generate a personal portrait in the artist's vibrant aesthetic. Bandaged ear optional.

African artist riffs on Van Gogh in historic exhibition in Amsterdam
Expressive brushstrokes depict a man seated at a table, his face hidden behind a book of Japanese prints, a plastic chair in the corner and a Nigerian passport lying on the table. Advertisement It is one of 10 new paintings by Nigerian artist John Madu, created for 'Paint Your Path' – the first solo exhibition by an African artist at Amsterdam's Van Gogh Museum. Madu, 42, produced the 10 works for the exhibition - which opened on May 30 - in just three months in his Lagos studio, each responding to one of seven paintings by the Dutch master. 'Before I even knew who Van Gogh was, I knew about his work,' he said, recalling how, as a child, he admired his father's calendars filled with Impressionist art. 'Van Gogh's works actually stuck out to me because of the yellows, the swirls, the strokes.' Madu plays on the global familiarity of Van Gogh's work to build connections between local and universal themes, notably through self-portraiture and the use of symbols.

FPL: Under pressure like Kevin Keegan, ‘I would love it' if I beat my rivals
Never did I think that a Fantasy Premier League season could jeopardise my professional career, but here we are. The Post's mini-league, despite my utter dominance throughout, has somehow come down to the final day, with just five points between my side, Various Artists, and the team in second. As the Post's resident FPL 'expert', how can I walk back into the office with any shred of dignity if I somehow throw away the league? My editor has even hinted that I will be sent on a post-season FPL tour should I fail to bring back silverware, something I suspect might be a metaphor for more serious ramifications. Right now, I feel like Kevin Keegan after his infamous 'I will love it if we beat them' rant. I have been top of the league for as long as I can remember, but my run-in – much like that of the ill-fated 1996 Newcastle United side – has been nothing if not average: in the previous Gameweek, I scored 58 points, 62 the week before that, and a shocking 38 in Gameweek 35. My closest rival closed the gap after an impressive run, racking up 202 points in three weeks.

Abolfazl Alipourandi ends Liam Nolan's ONE Championship return in just 59 seconds
Iranian secures stunning knockout after taking ONE Fight Night 31 bout at just a week's notice Abolfazl Alipourandi seized his opportunity in emphatic fashion with a 59-second walk-off knockout against Liam Nolan at ONE Fight Night 31 on Saturday. The Englishman had briefly retired after losing to Nauzet Trujillo last year but was inspired to return in hopes of exacting revenge in a rematch. However, when the Spaniard pulled out, Alipourandi jumped at the chance to make his ONE Championship debut. And with less than a minute gone, unleashed a perfect kick to his opponent's head, leaving the former WBC Muay Thai world champion folded on the canvas. 'The high kick is my favourite,' Alipourandi told the Post. 'I noticed when I was kicking Liam, I saw an opening. On the feet, he outgunned the Chinese veteran with punches and kicks. And once the action hit the canvas, the Brazilian pummelled Zhang with powerful ground-and-pound, ultimately sealing the nod from all three judges.
