Former Love Island star tells court businessman accused of 'beating the c*** out of his girlfriend' at £1.5million home was 'protective and caring' when they dated

A Love Island beauty has described a businessman accused of savagely assaulting his ex-girlfriend at his £1.5million London home as 'very kind' and 'never aggressive'. when they dated. Francesca Allen, 28, who shot to fame on the 2019 series of the ITV2 dating show, offered a character reference for bespoke tailor Ricky Lawrence, 33, as he stands trial for allegedly attacking former Miss Universe GB finalist Chloe Othen, 34. Lawrence is accused of brutally beating Ms Othen after inviting her to his plush Knightsbridge apartment via text on 15 October 2022. The influencer, who boasts 284,000 Instagram followers, told jurors he 'beat the c*** out of her' and later sent chilling texts threatening: 'I will do everything in my power to f**k you up.' The court heard the former couple had dated for six months between December 2021 and May 2022, but continued to see each other sporadically. Ms Othen's current partner, Hatton Garden jeweller Bora Guccuk, 41, claimed he phoned her on the night of the alleged assault but Lawrence answered and threatened to stab them both. Lawrence, however, has denied the claims, insisting in court that it was actually Mr Guccuk who was responsible for Ms Othen's injuries. Ricky Lawrence (above) is accused of pinning down, punching and repeatedly biting Chloe Othen at his £1.5million Knightsbridge home on October 15, 2022 In a character statement read at Aldersgate House Crown Court, Love Island alum Ms Allen, who appeared on the show alongside social media stars Molly-Mae Hague and Maura Higgins, painted a very different picture of the man in the dock. Ms Allen, from Essex, told the court she dated Lawrence for around a year back in 2018. 'As a boyfriend Lawrence was very kind,' she said. 'He always wanted to do things for me, he always wanted to do fun things together. 'He has a lovely close relationship with his parents and grandparents and I could tell he wanted that same relationship with a partner. 'I've never known Ricky to be aggressive, he would never shout back at me, he would always calm me down. 'I've never seen him be violent towards anybody and this wouldn't change if he was drinking. 'He is just always happy; I've never seen him let things get him down. 'He has a lot of female friends…in my experience he has always been protective and caring towards them.' Another woman, Daisy Mitchell, who told the court she had known Lawrence for two decades and dated him in 2016, also vouched for his character. 'We never had arguments,' she said. 'He was never aggressive or possessive. 'I have nothing bad to say about him.' Lawrence, who owns a high-end tailoring business in one of London's most exclusive postcodes, strongly denies the prosecution's claim that he has a 'bad temper' and likes to get his own way. He has pleaded not guilty to one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. The trial continues, with jurors expected to begin deliberations later today.

Diddy trial latest: Ex-girlfriend 'Jane' says she still loves him and he's paying for her lawyer - after testifying against him

Warning: The updates below contain graphic details of alleged sex trafficking. An anonymous former girlfriend and alleged victim of Sean "Diddy" Combs - known only as Jane - is facing cross-examination on day 20 of his trial. 14:35:57 Jane wanted to 'fulfil duties as a girlfriend' on 'hotel nights' - and says she still loves Diddy Yesterday, we learned that Diddy is paying Jane's rent and is also paying for her lawyer. We also discovered that ahead of the trial, she had been speaking to both the defence and the prosecution, before appearing as a witness for the government. Jane confirms that when Homeland Security Investigation first came to her home, she did not want to have anything to do with them, but was later subpoenaed by the government after Diddy was arrested in September and given immunity to speak in court. Jane says she did not want to break up with Diddy, and when asked if she felt resentful that she had sex with other men, she says Diddy introduced her to the swinging lifestyle, "under a lot of emotional pressure". She says: "I was so hooked from the beginning on the love and affection, I fell in love with him and I didn't understand the terms of the relationship, it was along the lines of love and pressure to do these thighs he desired and I wanted to fulfil my duties as a girlfriend." When asked if she still loves Diddy, Jane says "yes". 14:18:44 Jane returns to the stand The jury is now back in the room, and Jane is ready to begin her fourth day on the stand. It's likely to be a robust cross-examination from the defence, with Diddy's lawyer, Teny Geragos, questioning Jane. 14:14:01 Motion to recall traumatic stress expert denied A motion to recall Dr Hughes, a psychologist who spoke earlier in the trial, speaking about "trauma bonds" between an abuser and their victim, has been denied. A forensic psychologist, her professional specialties include interpersonal violence, traumatic stress and anxiety disorders, and she has been an expert witness in other high-profile sexual misconduct trials including R Kelly's federal trial, and the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard defamation trial. Judge Arun Subramanian says permitting the government to recall Dr Hughes – who gave evidence in week three of the trial after Cassie's time on the stand - would suggest her testimony was more relevant than others, and so he is not allowing it. 14:03:06 How does Diddy look today? Much has been made of Diddy's changed appearance after nine months in jail, with greying hair and a much-slimmed down physique. Diddy has been given special permission to wear civilian clothes rather than his prison issue tan jumpsuit. Today he's wearing a light coloured long-sleeve shirt and trousers. He's also wearing glasses. He's busy organising papers at the defence table and moving a box of tissues around. 13:55:05 Judge denies motion for a mistrial Before testimony resumes, the judge tells the court that the motion for a mistrial has been denied. Over the weekend, the defence called for a mistrial, arguing that Cassie Ventura and Bryana Bongolan lied about Bongolan being "dangled" over a 17th floor balcony by Diddy in September 2016. The defence say the government should have known this was not possible, and say Diddy was away on the East Coast at the time of the alleged incident. Judge Arun Subramanian says the defence was able to attack Bongolon's testimony during their vigorous cross-examination, as well as having full access to Diddy's travel records, and he doesn't believe any prejudice has been caused. 13:55:01 A reminder of the charges While we wait for court to start again today, here's a reminder of the five felony charges faced by Sean "Diddy" Combs: Racketeering conspiracy; Two counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion; Two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. The rapper was initially charged with three offences - racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Two extra counts - one each of sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution - were added earlier in April. Combs has pleaded not guilty to all charges. What the charges mean Racketeering broadly means engaging in an illegal scheme or enterprise, and the charge falls under the Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organisations Act (RICO) in the US. According to the US justice department's definition of RICO statute, it is also illegal to "conspire to violate" the laws. The prosecution alleges that between 2008 and 2024, Combs "led a racketeering conspiracy that engaged in sex trafficking, forced labour, kidnapping, arson, bribery, and obstruction of justice, among other crimes". 13:45:01 Welcome back to our live coverage of the Sean 'Diddy' Combs trial We're back with updates from the trial of Sean "Diddy" Combs in New York. She says she spoke to Diddy's defence attorneys in April, adding that she is speaking out now to "honour myself". Asked how she feels about Diddy today, Jane says: "I pray for his continued healing and pray for peace for him ". With that the jury is dismissed, and court is adjourned for the day.

She says Diddy booked them a hotel room, and they "partied and had sex" all night, but became angry when after 24 hours she began to feel tired. She says Diddy's "whole demeanour changed," saying he became "agitated and upset" taking it "like a rejection". She said he told her "I spent all this money on you and now you're tired," before throwing water at her and calling her a bitch. She describes apologising, and taking an ecstasy pill, which she said made Diddy "completely happy and celebratory". Jane says she then suggested contacting a male escort they had previously employed called Paul, because she wanted to "make Sean happy". Paul came from New York to Miami to see them a day and a half later, and Jane says after spraying liquid molly into her mouth [a liquid form of ecstasy] she felt "an intense high sexual energy" having sex with Paul in front of Diddy, calling it "an all-time high" and "just intense". Jane says the last time she saw Diddy was in August, and he was arrested the following month.
