visvim 最新「VISVIM MOTORS CLUB」別注系列第三彈即將登陸 The Repulse Bay Village

Hypebeast2 days ago

A huge K-pop band is teaming up with the viral ugly toy Labubu

Two giants of Asia — K-pop band Seventeen and viral doll Labubu — are joining forces. Seventeen, one of K-pop's biggest acts du jour, is set to release a new song on June 11, "Bad Influence," produced by Pharrell Williams. Leading up to the release, Williams' online auction site, Joopiter, launched a collaboration with Chinese toymaker Pop Mart to make 14 custom Labubu dolls with Seventeen branding. Labubu, a furry toy with a wide, sinister grin, has taken the world by storm, created massive queues around the world, and made millions for parent company Pop Mart. The company's stock is up about 600% in the past year. The 6.7-inch dolls in the Seventeen collaboration are clad in gray onesies by fashion brand Carhartt and feature neon green fur, a color not seen on a Labubu thus far. They also sport a mixed metal necklace and black toenail polish. "Blending the worlds of collectibles and high fashion, this marks the first official collaboration between Labubu and an international fashion brand—a testament to the creative possibilities born from cultural crossover," Joopiter's product description wrote. Per Joopiter's website, the toys have been listed for a charity auction with an expected bid price of $300 to $500. As of press time, the highest bid price on the dolls was $2,200. Bidding closes in a week. The Labubus are part of a larger collaboration between Seventeen and Sacai, a Japanese luxury fashion brand. The collection also includes a leather jacket, caps, hoodies, and a white T-shirt signed by 11 members of Seventeen. While this is the first official collaboration between K-pop and Labubu, Labubu's ties with K-pop run deep. The toy's popularity is partly attributed to Lisa, one of the four singers from the hit K-pop band Blackpink, who posted the plush toy on her Instagram last April.

EXCLUSIVE: Pharrell Williams' Joopiter Auction Platform Launches Marketplace

INSTANT GRATIFICATION: Pharrell Williams' Joopiter platform is joining the ranks of auction houses that are countering the downturn in the art market by ramping up their offer of pre-owned luxury items and prestige collectibles for instant purchase. The auction site, which sells items belonging to the music star and his A-list circle, said on Wednesday it was launching Joopiter Marketplace with items from the archives of five collectors: Williams, artist Tom Sachs, jeweler Lorraine Schwartz, entrepreneur and gallerist Easy Otabor and music executive Steven Victor. 'We've built Joopiter Marketplace to meet this demand, expand our community, and introduce sought-after items that only Joopiter can bring to market,' he added. Highlights of the inaugural selection include a black version of Williams' signature Vivienne Westwood Buffalo hat, priced at $630; his customized black Timberland boots, selling for $4,200, and a sample white Billionaire Boys Club polo shirt identical to the one the singer wore in the video for his 2003 single 'Frontin'' – $735, with stains included. Reflecting the growing and diverse market for prestige collectibles, the site offers art, sneakers, streetwear and limited-edition objects. Handbag collectors are likely to make a beeline for Schwartz's Hermès Ostrich Tri-Color Birkin 35 with Palladium Hardware, on offer for $36,900. Alongside a selection of her own designs, she's letting go of some jewelry from the collection of Elizabeth Taylor, including a matching bracelet and necklace featuring cultured and freshwater pearls with gold cherubs designed by Beverly Hills jeweler William Ruser. 'Elizabeth Taylor loved her jewels and she actually told her life through jewels, which was unbelievable. So after she passed, I went to the auction. I bought so much stuff because it was my connection to her,' Schwartz said. Otabor, who was an operator and buyer for RSVP Gallery, the Chicago concept store cofounded by Don C and the late Virgil Abloh, has included a RSVP Gallery x Off-White x Nike T-shirt priced at $285, among pieces linked to the late Off-White founder and head of menswear at Louis Vuitton. Proceeds from these items will benefit both the Rebuild Foundation founded by artist Theaster Gates and the Virgil Abloh Foundation, supporting community-focused creativity and education, Joopiter said. In the pipeline are items from the collections of Kenzo creative director Nigo; Sarah Andelman, the founder of consulting agency Just an Idea and previously the purchasing and image director of landmark boutique Colette; producer and DJ Pedro Winter; model and musician Soo Joo Park, and Hermès collector Jane Angert, aka Janefinds, among others. 'Joopiter was founded to not only introduce a new voice into the auction landscape, but to recalibrate what it means to be a collector. With Joopiter Marketplace, we are bolstering our founding principles by expanding our ecosystem. We are excited to bring these objects to the world,' said Williams, who succeeded Abloh as Vuitton's creative director of menswear. The showcase, which coincides with the release of the group's fifth studio album 'Happy Burstday,' is aimed at celebrating Seventeen's relationship with Sacai and includes pieces worn, signed, and inspired by the group. The project is supported by Shinsegae International, Sacai's retail partner in South Korea. In addition to the custom Labubus, the auction includes a Sacai-designed jacket seen in Seventeen's 'Bad Influence' video, which was produced by Williams, and a T-shirt signed by 11 of the group's members. A line of merchandise designed by Sacai's Chitose Abe — featuring hoodies, T-shirts in two colorways and a cap, each featuring the J–17–S emblem, a new graphic that merges the logos of Joopiter, Sacai and Seventeen — will be released in tandem with the auction. Net proceeds from the sale will be donated to UNESCO, the United Nations Organization for Education, Science, and Culture. Both Seventeen and Williams serve as goodwill ambassadors for the organization. 'It was a pleasure to work with Seventeen on our new song, 'Bad Influence,' and it's exciting to bring them into the world of Joopiter, along with our brilliant friend, Chitose Abe of Sacai. This collaboration is built upon our mutual creative energy, and we can't wait for fans around the world to experience it,' said Williams, who also works as the creative director of menswear at Louis Vuitton. Abe said collaborating with Seventeen was about more than designing clothes; it was about 'creating something that could express individuality, unity and energy all at once.' 'Each member brings their own presence, and the goal was to reflect that through garments that blend contrasts, true to Sacai's philosophy,' she added. John Auerbach, chief executive officer of Joopiter, added: 'We've merged the worlds of music and fashion into a truly unique, one-of-a-kind collaboration, one that is true to Joopiter's mission of bringing the most covetable objects to the world.'
