All must take heed of King's call for unity
THE Alliance for a Safe Community fully supports His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, in his heartfelt call for unity, which he has described as the greatest gift the rakyat can offer him.
His Majesty's words are both timely and deeply meaningful within the context of our multiracial nation.
Unity is the cornerstone of our nation's harmony, peace, progress, and prosperity. It transcends political affiliations, religious beliefs, and ethnic backgrounds.
As Malaysians, we must never take for granted the harmony that has allowed us to thrive as a multiracial, multicultural society.
His Majesty's call is a powerful reminder that despite our differences, we are stronger and better when we stand together as one people, united in our shared hopes and common destiny.
The responsibility of fostering unity lies with every segment of society, but especially with those in leadership.
The government must continue to implement inclusive policies that protect the rights and dignity of all citizens, regardless of race, religion or background.
National policies should be rooted in fairness and aimed at bridging gaps — be they economic, social, or educational — that threaten to divide us.
Politicians, as public servants and role models, carry a moral obligation to promote messages of inclusion, tolerance, and mutual respect.
They must rise above narrow interests and avoid rhetoric that incites division or undermines our national cohesion.
Instead, they should work together, across party lines, to strengthen the unity that forms the bedrock of our nation's stability.
Civil society also has a crucial role to play in building bridges between communities, advocating for justice, and encouraging understanding through dialogue and engagement.
Non-government organisations, community leaders, educators, and the media must all contribute actively to nurturing a culture of respect and cooperation among Malaysians from all walks of life.
Let us all, whether leaders or ordinary citizens, respond to His Majesty's call by rejecting divisiveness, embracing respect and compassion, and working hand-in-hand to build a Malaysia that is safe, inclusive, and united.
This is not only the greatest gift we can offer our beloved King — it is also the greatest legacy we can leave for future generations.

MACC to use creative platforms to educate public on corruption prevention
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) aims to utilise creative platforms such as documentaries, films, and theatre to broaden its approach in educating the public on corruption prevention. In addition, he expressed his gratitude for the trust and support shown by MACC personnel in particular, and the government in general, for entrusting him once again to lead the commission. He also called on all MACC staff to continue instilling values of patriotism and loyalty in line with the General Circular No. 1 of 2025 on the Cultivation of Patriotism and Loyalty among Civil Servants, launched by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar on March 21. Also present at the meeting were MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Operations) Datuk Seri Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya, Deputy Chief Commissioner (Prevention) Datuk Azmi Kamaruzaman, Deputy Chief Commissioner (Management and Professionalism) Datuk Indera Junipah Wandi, as well as senior directors and MACC directors from across the country.

Anwar shares royal compliment on Malaysia's medical expertise
PETALING JAYA: Sultan of Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah praised the quality and expertise of doctors at the National Heart Institute (IJN) after receiving treatment there. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim conveyed this during the Higher Education Ministry's Ilmuan Malaysia Madani forum titled "Transport for the People: Balancing Affordability, Quality and Sustainability of Public Transport." "His Majesty told me that, as someone with exposure to and experience with some of the world's best medical centres, he was very satisfied with the quality of service, excellence, and expertise of our doctors at IJN," he said. Anwar added that while the government welcomes criticism, Malaysians should also recognise national achievements, especially in healthcare. "So while we allow criticism, which is not a problem, we must also recognise the strengths we have, and there must be the drive to push ourselves to do better," he said. The Sultan of Brunei was in Kuala Lumpur for the 46th Asean Summit with other regional leaders. On May 27, he was reportedly feeling fatigued and was advised by health experts to rest at IJN. Anwar also spoke about his conversation with President of Guinea-Bissau General Umaro Sissoco Embaló, during which he asked why Malaysia was chosen despite limited bilateral trade. "His answer was that he follows developments here and sees Malaysia as a country on the rise, with significant potential. That's why he chose to come," he said. Embaló arrived today for a three-day visit—his first since taking office as president in February 2020. Malaysia and Guinea-Bissau established diplomatic relations in November 1974. In 2024, Malaysia's total trade with Guinea-Bissau reached RM4.1 million, with Malaysian exports amounting to RM4.04 million and imports standing at RM0.06 million.
