Ohio State 2026 Big Ten baseball schedule released on Wednesday
It was nowhere near the baseball season the folks around Ohio State were hoping for. The Buckeyes finished 13-37 overall and won just five of 30 Big Ten games. OSU did get an 11-10 walk-off win to end head coach Justin Hare's first season, but it was one of transition and uncertainty. Hopefully, next season is a much better one.
The College Baseball World Series might be just now getting underway in Omaha, but that didn't stop the Big Ten from releasing the 2026 Big Ten baseball schedule on Wednesday. We won't get into all eighteen teams and who they will play, but we assume you are interested in what the conference schedule looks like for the boys next season. Here's how it all lays out for next spring. All dates and series are three-game sets:
Friday, March 6 through Sunday, March 8: vs. UCLA (Columbus, OH)
Friday, March 13 through Sunday, March 15: at Washington (Seattle, WA)
Friday, March 27 through Sunday, March 30: at Minnesota (Minneapolis, MN)
Friday, April 3 through Sunday, April 5: vs. Maryland (Columbus, OH)
Friday, April 10 through Sunday, April 12: vs. Penn State (Columbus, OH)
Friday, April 17 through Sunday, April 19: at Purdue (West Lafayette, IN)
Friday, April 24 through Sunday, April 26: at Rutgers (Piscataway, NJ)
Friday, May 1 through Sunday, May 3: vs. Nebraska (Columbus, OH)
Friday, May 8 through Sunday, May 10: vs. Michigan State (Columbus, OH)
Thursday, May 14 through Saturday, May 16: at Michigan (Ann Arbor, MI)
The nonconference part of the schedule has yet to be released. That will come to a media outlet near you at a later date. When it does, we'll bring it to you.

Associated Press MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota women's basketball coach Dawn Plitzuweit has received a two-year contract extension that was approved Thursday by the university's board of regents. Plitzuweit is 47-29 over two seasons at Minnesota, including 13-23 in Big Ten play, with leading scorer Mara Braun missing much of them with foot injuries. The Gophers capped Plitzuweit's second year by winning the WBIT championship. They have not appeared in the NCAA Tournament since 2018. The new deal, which covers the next six seasons through 2031, gives Plitzuweit a raise of roughly 7% to bring her base salary to $900,000 for 2025-26, according to the Minnesota Star Tribune, with annual increases of $30,000. That's in the middle of the pack in the 18-team Big Ten, which sent 12 of them to the NCAA Tournament this year. Plitzuweit was hired away from West Virginia, where she spent one season, to replace Lindsay Whalen. Ohio State Athletics launches Center for Sports Intelligence and Strategy On the heels of the House Settlement being approved, which paves the way for direct revenue sharing with college athletes, the Ohio State Department of Athletics announced the creation of the Center for Sports Intelligence & Strategy. It's not a physical building, mind you, but according to a release from the department, it is the bringing together of a cross-functional team of athletics department administrators dedicated to driving strategic planning, optimizing data-driven decision-making, and fostering collaboration across teams. It is designed to provide Ohio State coaches with access to cutting-edge analytics, strategic insights, and tools designed to inform and enhance key areas such as recruiting, scheduling, resource allocation, and roster construction. In other words, it's designed to beat every other college and university athletic department when it comes to the new order of revenue sharing and NIL in amateur college sports. 'The Center for Sports Intelligence & Strategy will equip our coaches with more information, context, and clarity to make even better decisions,' said Shaun Richard, Deputy Athletics Director, in a statement. 'We already have the best sports science team that equips our coaches with data on training, recovery, and performance. This unit will work in tandem with our sports scientists, as well as our business and NIL strategy teams, to give coaches additional data and actionable insights.' There's no other way to explain this than groundbreaking. In a sense, Ohio State is looking to bring together sports sciences, operations, and athletic performance together to provide a better outcome for the student-athlete and success on the field. 'The intelligence and strategy we're providing will enhance our coaches' ability to make critical decisions by giving them the most relevant and timely information available – so they can maintain a competitive edge in every aspect of their programs,' said Richard. This type of integration and cooperation is being embraced by Ohio State coaches across multiple sports. 'As coaches at Ohio State, we know the difference between winning and losing often comes down to the smallest details,' wrestling coach Tom Ryan said in the statement. 'The Center for Sports Intelligence & Strategy will uncover subtle patterns and insights that will give our teams a competitive edge. Many areas will be impacted by the creation of the Center for Sports Intelligence and Strategy.
