The much-awaited action thriller 'War 2' is gearing up for a grand global release of 'War 2,' starring
Hrithik Roshan
and Jr. NTR. The film is set to hit theaters worldwide in multiple languages on the upcoming India's Independence Day release window.
As per Gulte, YRF has decided to take complete control of the film's theatrical release across all regions, including the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Despite several top Telugu production houses expressing interest in acquiring the regional rights, the makers are sticking to their strategy of handling distribution independently. This approach also extends to North India, other parts of South India, and overseas markets, showing the studio's confidence in the film's pan-Indian and international appeal.
Directed by Ayan Mukerji, this film is the sixth installment in the production house's spy universe and a sequel to the 2019 blockbuster 'War.' It stars Hrithik Roshan reprising his role as Major Kabir Dhaliwal, a top RAW agent, and marks Jr. NTR's much-awaited Bollywood debut as the antagonist.
The shooting of the film is nearly complete, with only one major sequence left to film, which is a high-energy dance face-off between Hrithik and Jr.
NTR. This particular schedule faced delays due to Hrithik Roshan's knee injury during rehearsals but is expected to wrap up soon and will lead the way for post-production work.
The teaser, released on Jr. NTR's birthday, showcases intense action sequences, including sword fights, car chases, and hand-to-hand combat, highlighting the electrifying chemistry and rivalry between the two stars. Hrithik's character returns in a darker and more ruthless avatar.
The film is also set for a box office clash with 'Coolie,' starring superstar
Rajinikanth
and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, which is also slated for release on August 14.
