Barrow run inspired by derby questions says Farman
Barrow goalkeeper Paul Farman says their unbeaten run has been inspired by bouncing back from losing the Cumbrian derby to Carlisle United.The 1-0 home defeat in February saw relegation-threatened Carlisle complete the double and maintain the Bluebirds' 65-year wait to beat their rivals in the league.But since then they have taken 11 points from five games, with only Colchester United picking up more in League Two in that time."We got questioned a bit after that Carlisle game," Farman, 35, told BBC Radio Cumbria."You can doubt us but we really want to show that never-say-die attitude."
Farman produced a player-of-the-match display in the Bluebirds' win at promotion-chasing Port Vale on Tuesday.It was evidence of Barrow's growing role as party poopers having also won at Notts County in this run and coming from two down to snatch a draw at AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.But for the goalkeeper in his fourth season at the club, it is proof of a strong dressing room culture."We really want to grind through games," he added. "If it takes being a bit ugly to get points to get over the line, we are going to make sure we do that."I've been fortunate since I came here, we've had a great dressing room every year. We've got some big characters, and most days it's people coming in with smiles on their faces and enjoying it."

St Mirren handed opening day trip to champions Celtic amid tough start
The SPFL released the fixtures for next season this morning and the Buddies are off to the east end of Glasgow. St Mirren were today handed a daunting trip to champions Celtic on the opening day of the new Premiership season. After ending the 2024-25 campaign in Glasgow's east end, the Buddies will return to Celtic Park to begin their 2025-26 adventure on Sunday, August 3. There will be a sense of occasion as the Hoops unfurl the champions' flag before the match which is to be shown live on Sky Sports. Saints drew 1-1 when the sides last met as Jonah Ayunga's opener was cancelled out in injury time by James Forrest. The first home game of the season will be on Saturday, August 9, when Jens Berthel Askou's Motherwell visit the SMiSA Stadium. Stephen Robinson's men face three of last season's top six in the opening month of the new term. Russell Martin's Rangers arrive at Greenhill Road on the weekend of Saturday, August 23 with a trip to Hibernian the following weekend. No winter break is planned and, as it stands, there will also be no games in the Premiership on Boxing Day and January 2, 2026. There are five midweek league games planned pre-split at this stage with Saints hosting Hearts on both Wednesday, October 29 and Wednesday, February 4.
