This was the day the Brexit dream died. Voters will repay Starmer by sweeping his hapless Government into the dustbin of history: DAILY MAIL COMMENT

Daily Mail20-05-2025

Like the deluded emperor in Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale, Sir Keir Starmer was keen to show off his elegant new European clothes yesterday.
Posing proudly with his cosmopolitan chums, he extolled the virtues of his Brexit 'reset' deal, hailing it as a landmark victory.

Kimberley Walsh shows off her figure in a plunging bikini as she lounges by the pool during girls trip to Ibiza

Kimberley Walsh showed off her figure in a plunging bikini as she lounged by the pool during a girls trip to Ibiza. The singer, 43, looked incredible in the white two piece while she sipped on cocktails with her friends. In a series of photos shared to Instagram on Monday, Kimberley later changed into a brown bandeau set to top up her tan. She captioned the update: 'A weekend away with my girls we've waited 6 years for and it was good for the soul. Spending quality time like this is SUCH a treat. 'We laughed till we cried, reminisced and I loved every second of it. I am SO lucky to have these ladies in my life.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Elsewhere, Kimberley described how 'crazy emotional' it was for Girls Aloud to go on their reunion tour last year, without their bandmate Sarah Harding. The iconic girl band was made up of Kimberley, Nadine Coyle, Cheryl, Nicola Roberts and Sarah, until her tragic death from breast cancer in 2021, aged 39. In May last year, the group returned to the stage for the first time in 11 years to go on a huge UK tour, where their late bandmate was kept as the focus throughout. The show included songs dedicated to Sarah, as well as emotional montages of the late star and a rendition of I'll Stand By You featuring her vocals. In a new interview, Kimberley has admitted that paying tribute to Sarah night after night was 'gut-wrenching' and that reuniting the band without her felt 'so emotional'. The mother-of-three even revealed that during the rehearsals for the show the group had 'let it all out' so that they could be strong enough to get through the live shows. However, she added how important they all knew it was to follow Sarah's wishes and show how she was an integral part of the band, admitting that despite it being 'tough' for them, they wanted to be able to honour and remember their friend. Speaking to The Sun, she explained: 'She wanted us to do it. She made it clear when she was here, but equally we felt it isn't Girls Aloud without her. She's such a massive part of it, so we wanted to keep her part of it. We're trying to keep her spirit alive.' She continued: 'There wasn't just one moment of her, we made the whole show have a thread of her throughout. And at times we were like: "Is this actually too sad?" Because for us it felt just gut-wrenching. But then, equally, she deserved that time and for people to remember her.' Kimberley said the end result was 'crazy emotional', but described hearing Sarah's vocals in arenas as 'epic' and confessed celebrating their bandmate alongside the fans had ended up being a 'cathartic' experience for the group. She said: 'It's been cathartic for all of us to have that time and to almost grieve with the fans. They've grown up with us. 'And there's no denying that her energy was really missed on stage. But I think everybody could feel that she was still very much intertwined within the show and the band.'

Wedding dress exhibition held at Kent church

A village church in Kent is celebrating its 175th anniversary with an exhibition of wedding Paul's Church in Rusthall was consecrated in August 1850 by the then Archbishop of Canterbury John Bird Sumner. The Victorian church is marking the milestone by displaying 20 dresses, all worn by brides at St Paul's over the years, until 14 June. The dresses on display - both designer and handmade - have been loaned along with photographs and mementos dating back to 1920, according to curator Elaine Bruce. "This exhibition is bringing people together to appreciate the beauty and significance of weddings and reconnecting with those who had their marriages at the parish church," she told the BBC. "It all adds up to quite an emotional display." Flowers will also be exhibited based on the bouquets the brides had when they tied the knot. Jennifer Farman, who got married there in 2018, said it felt like a "privilege" to have her dress shown in the exhibit."I have a long history with this church. I've been coming here since I was a toddler," she told the mum also got married there and her grandparents used to attend services. "I always knew this would be where I got married," she added. Rita Wilson said her dress - which she walked down the aisle with in 1956 and later wore to dances at the Assembly Hall in Tunbridge Wells - is the oldest on show. Her mother also married at the church in 1926, alongside her daughter in 1985."There's so many memories of events that have happened here... and friendships [that we have made]," she said."It's actually very special."

Reform's new chairman is Most Haunted TV star

Reform UK's new chairman is a former TV presenter known for fronting a reality show about hunting ghosts. Dr David Bull, who is also an ex-hospital doctor, will take over from Zia Yusuf, who dramatically resigned from the party last week before rejoining just two days later. Dr Bull is a former deputy leader of Reform, having held the role from 2021 to 2024, when he was replaced by Richard Tice on Nigel Farage's return as leader. For around a year, the 56-year-old shared the job with Ben Habib, who has since quit the party and become an outspoken supporter of Reform critic Rupert Lowe. Before entering politics, Dr Bull worked as a TV host, starting as an on-screen doctor for Sky TV in the mid-1990s before joining Newsround, the children's news show, and going on to present the paranormal series Most Haunted Live. He has also appeared on BBC's Watchdog, going on to host the spin-off Watchdog Healthcheck and the live science show Tomorrow's World. He is now a presenter on TalkTV, the news channel owned by Rupert Murdoch, which went online-only last year. Dr Bull, who reportedly backs 'binning the burka', was revealed as Reform's new chairman by the Daily Mail. He will replace Mr Yusuf, who stepped down from his position in spectacular fashion last Thursday before rejoining in a new role on Saturday. His resignation followed a disagreement within the party over whether to ban the burka, an idea he branded 'dumb'. Senior Reform figures also said that Mr Yusuf's professional style, born of his former career as a Goldman Sachs banker, had led to personality clashes at the top of the party. The former chairman will now lead Reform's so-called UK Doge team, inspired by the US Department of Government Efficiency set up by Donald Trump and run by Elon Musk. Dr Bull is also a former doctor and has written two books: Cool and Celibate? Sex and No Sex and What Every Girl Should Know. According to his website, he qualified as a doctor in 1993 and went on to work for the NHS at St Mary's Hospital, Ealing Hospital and the Whittington Hospital, all in London, in the fields of general medicine, emergency medicine and general practice. He was briefly a Brexit Party MEP and initially ran as the Tory candidate for Brighton Pavilion in 2009 before stepping down to lead a Conservative policy review on sexual health. A Reform source told the Daily Mail: 'He looks and sounds good and he's been out and proud for years, so we have no worries about any skeletons in his closet.'
