: Outside the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, there are big cutouts of two captains Shreyas Iyer and Rajat Patidar. The handful of fans hoping to see Virat Kohli were perplexed to see the image of Rajat Patidar.
"Who is he?," asked one of the fans outside Gate No. 1. The vendor, who was busy selling jerseys, replied angrily, "he is the captain of the team whose jersey you are buying."
The poor guy had no clue about Rajat Patidar, and murmured, "wasn't Kohli the captain?"

The vendors aren't particularly fans of the sport but they have a lot of hopes riding on the proceedings and the outcomes.
"There isn't a buzz this time around. We failed to sell Rohit Sharma's jersey ahead of Qualifier 2, and now we are struggling to find buyers for Kohli's.
We don't care who wins as long as we are selling jerseys. Hopefully, we will have more sales on Tuesday," said Krupal, before he started chanting the rates of the jerseys.

Krupal and Aslam are not wrong about the mood ahead of the final. On Sunday, hardly 50,000 people turned up to watch the Qualifier 2 match between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians. There were no buyers for many of the hospitality boxes as they were empty.
The IPL final, which was shifted to the world's biggest stadium in Ahmedabad, has failed to create any buzz in the city.
Hyderabad and Kolkata were supposed to host the playoffs as per the original dates but the venues were changed citing "weather conditions." The rain, however, has continued to follow the business end of the cash-rich league as there was a heavy shower ahead of Qualifier 2 and a light spell is expected on Tuesday as well.
Even if the weather permits and the match goes ahead, it would be interesting to see whether the title clash will be able to fill the Narendra Modi Stadium.
In the pre-match press conference, both captains chose to keep cards close to their chests. Shreyas Iyer spoke about lack of sleep while a soft-spoken and very un-RCB-like captain Rajat Patidar reserved praise for the fans and vowed not to get bogged down by the unreal expectation.
The PBKS players, tired from their rain-affected marathon match, didn't turn up for the training session. Captain Shreyas left the venue after the photo shoot but RCB did train for around two hours.

Once RCB left the ground, the pitch and the inner ring were immediately covered, and final touches were applied to the makeshift stage for the closing ceremony. The 22-year-old Tamil Nadu athlete became the first Indian woman thrower to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships. She made the cut in discus throw, one of her pet events along with shot put . Following her move to the USA, Krishna was without a coach at the University of Nevada, where she is currently studying. Krishna first competed in the NCAA circuit in 2022 and had to take a break due to injuries before making a comeback last year. The return was not ideal, as she did not achieve the desired outcome. However, Krishna continued to push herself, and the results have began to show. She broke the indoor national record in shot put earlier this year and has recorded multiple personal bests in discus throw. What has made the year more special for Krishna is her qualification to the Outdoor Championships with a personal-best throw of 55.61m in discus throw. 'The reaction when I threw 55.61m was insane. At long last: on the IPL, Royal Challengers Bengaluru's win
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) played the Indian Premier League's (IPL) inaugural game on April 18, 2008. It was a night that, however, belonged to rival Kolkata Knight Riders with Brendon McCullum's unbeaten 158 putting the match well beyond the host in its backyard at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. In the subsequent editions, the franchise with a fiercely loyal fan base, promised much, delivered little and had three runner-up finishes to show. Finally, the ghosts of the past were laid to rest when Rajat Patidar's men claimed the title with a six-run victory over Punjab Kings in the summit clash at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium on Tuesday night. RCB's triumph in the IPL's 18th edition was also a tribute to Virat Kohli's longevity. He has been with the squad since its first game in 2008. In a unit that featured stars such as Rahul Dravid, AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle and Ross Taylor in the past, Kohli has been the forever spine. The young lad has grown into a patriarch, and he has achieved enough and more with the Indian team, both as player and captain, but a missing IPL trophy, always rankled him. Even if the cup proved elusive, Punjab Kings did remarkably well, especially its captain Shreyas Iyer; he will have a larger role with the Indian ODI team whenever Rohit Sharma and Kohli bid adieu to that format. Among the rest, Mumbai Indians, after a lukewarm start, surged back and found a berth in the play-offs, one that also featured Gujarat Titans. If the IPL was all about RCB's redemption song and Punjab Kings' chutzpah, equally, it mirrored the decline of a pedigreed outfit, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), which finished last. An ageing M.S. Dhoni could not stem the rot and former champion CSK will have to rebuild afresh in the coming editions. Having commenced on March 22, the IPL stretched interminably and a break caused by the Pahalgam terror attack and the resultant Operation Sindoor, forced a change in schedule. The IPL also highlighted talented players such as young Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Sai Sudharsan. As a sporting brand, the league is formidable but, as Kohli said, Tests are five levels above in quality and, hopefully, modern players will respect this reality.
