Warning of M5 delays as thousands set to attend Devon County Show
Drivers are being warned to expect delays on the M5 near Exeter due to the Devon County Show this weekend.
The three-day event at the Westpoint Arena, Clyst St Mary, is expected to attract up to 100,000 people. It will take place on Thursday, May 15, Friday, May 16 and Saturday, May 17.
This is expected to cause increased traffic on the M5 north and south of junctions 29 and 30, the A30 east and west of Exeter and the A38 south of Exeter.
Congestion has previously occurred during the morning influx to the show, particularly the M5 northbound between junctions 31 and 30, and traffic is likely to be particularly busy on Thursday morning.
M5 traffic will be directed to use junction 30 to access the showground via the A376 and A3052, while A30 westbound traffic will be directed to exit at the Daisy Mount junction and use the B3180 and A3052.

John Ingram, south west network planner for National Highways, said: "We're working closely with our partners at Devon County Council and Devon and Cornwall Police to give drivers advice to help them plan their journeys during this busy period, and our traffic officers will be patrolling the M5, A38 and A30 to assist with any breakdowns and incidents.
"Junction 30 of the M5 could be particularly busy and the north approach to junction 30 could also see significant increases in traffic between 8am and 10.30am over the three days when visitors to the Devon Show could be using the motorway at the same time as commuter and freight traffic.
"The A30 east and west of Exeter and A38 south of Exeter could also see increases in traffic, and drivers are advised to plan their travel routes in advance, and to keep up to date with the latest road conditions.
"Yellow signs will advise show visitors which route to take on the approaches to the show."

'Serious' M11 crash in Essex leaves motorway closed to traffic
A major UK motorway is closed following a 'serious' crash tonight (Friday, June 6 into Saturday June 7). The M11 is shut to traffic southbound between Junction 6 and Junction 5 in Essex. Delayed road scheme on track to open next spring
Highways officials say they are "very confident" a major roadworks scheme in Hull city centre will open next spring. In December, National Highways announced the A63 Castle Street project had been delayed by a year due to "extremely challenging ground conditions". Work had originally been due to be completed by spring 2025. Project manager Frances Oliver apologised for the delays, but said the scheme was on track to be completed by the revised date. Ms Oliver said: "It's a really technical scheme and there are lots of different elements. "There is really large element of technical design to overcome the ground conditions and, as part of that, we've had to do some slight tweaks to the design," she said. "We are really disappointed and we apologise for the delays - we all want to get this scheme finished." In response to a question about congestion, she said they had made some tweaks to traffic control measures as a result of customer feedback and were working with the city council to monitor the situation. For the majority of the time, she said there were two lanes of traffic running in each direction, with speed restrictions in place. When I visited the site in September, all seemed to be going well, with National Highways telling me the project would be finished by spring this year. But since it was announced in December that it would be delayed by a year I have been swamped with messages from people frustrated at having to sit in traffic jams every day. Highways bosses cited extremely challenging ground conditions near the Humber as the reason for the delay, but this is of little comfort to the thousands of motorists who use the local road network every day. To be fair, it is a monumental project, and one which should make a huge difference to traffic flow in the city when it finally gets over the finish line. Special traffic arrangements planned for air show
Measures are being put in place to help thousands of visitors get to the RAF Cosford Air Show next Sunday. The organisers have said they expect a crowd of more than 50,000 people again, with many of them due to arrive by car and more by train. National Highways said it expected the M54 and the area around the show to be busy, and it would open the hard shoulder around junctions two and three to cope with the extra traffic. West Midlands Railway said it planned to put on extra trains to take people in and out of Cosford station. Highlights at the show this year include a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight along with aerial displays by the Typhoon, Chinook, Airbus A330 and a Great War Display team. The air show has advised people to allow extra time for their journey. National Highways said the relaxing of the restrictions on the M54 would mean traffic could use the hard shoulder adjacent to the westbound carriageway of the M54 from its junction with the entry slip road at junction two, to its junction with the exit slip road at junction three. This will be between 07:00 BST and 14:00 BST on 8 June. It said there would also be traffic management on the slip roads and around the roundabout at junction three to help keep traffic flowing during the event. West Midlands Railway advised the early morning services into Cosford and the ones leaving after 17:00 were likely to be busy and were often full. It said it would have queuing systems in place for passengers trying to get on trains at Cosford and Wolverhampton.
