As the chill of winter increases, so, for me, does the dream of warmer climes.
Not hot, sweaty places where you can wring your shirt out by noon, just places that

4.8 Million SARA Recipients Use MyKad To Buy Essential Items

GEORGE TOWN, June 21 (Bernama) -- A total of 4.8 million out of 5.4 million recipients of the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) aid have used their MyKad to purchase basic necessities at registered premises nationwide as of this month. Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying said Perlis recorded the highest usage rate at 94 per cent, followed by 93 per cent in Sabah and Kedah, while Penang recorded 88 per cent. She said the figures reflect the growing effectiveness of the initiative, supported by various awareness and promotional efforts at both federal and state levels. 'The ministry will continue to strengthen awareness campaigns to ensure more people benefit from this government aid, which is aimed at easing their financial burden. 'We have also significantly expanded the number of recipients from 700,000 to 5.4 million since April,' she told reporters during a SARA outreach programme at a hypermarket here today. At the event, Lim met with 100 SARA recipients in Penang as part of the ministry's effort to engage directly with urban communities. She said to date, 3,700 retail premises have registered under the programme nationwide, enabling recipients to shop closer to home. In Penang alone, 190 such premises are available. Lim added that starting May 1, the programme was enhanced by expanding the list of eligible items to 14 categories, including household and personal hygiene products, medicines, and school supplies like uniforms and shoes. She also said that the maximum SARA aid for 2025 has been raised to RM2,100 from RM1,200, a 75 per cent increase.

Why Did Karisma Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan Break Up? Amitabh Bachchan Revealed What Went Wrong

Amitabh Bachchan addressed why Karisma Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan call off their wedding, blaming unfavorable circumstances. Before Karisma Kapoor tied the knot with Sunjay Kapur, she was engaged to Abhishek Bachchan. Jaya Bachchan had proudly announced that Karisma was going to be the Bachchan bahu. However, the former couple broke off their engagement a few months after the announcement. In 2005, Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan appeared on the first season of Karan Johar-hosted reality show Koffee With Karan and the veteran actor addressed what went wrong. Amitabh Bachchan said, 'It was a sensitive moment. Relationships are being formed, relationships are being destroyed. It can be distressing for any young man, and obviously distressing for the family. We don't wish that to happen to anyone, but if the circumstances are not conducive for a union, then it's better that you go different ways. That's what happened." He added, 'I think all these episodes in one's life are the episodes that will improve him as a human being, make him a better man, teach him to face the world in a much stronger way. If I may be absolutely, brutally honest, it gives you an opportunity of learning in the profession we are in." 'And the family has always worshipped what my father taught me, many many years ago, 'Mann ka ho toh acha, Mann ka naa ho toh aur zyaada acha, woh fir bhagwaan ke mann ka hota hai aur bhagwaan aapke liye, kabhi bura nahi chahega (If it happens as per yor will, then it's good, if it doesn't happen as per you will, then it's better, because then it's God's will and God will never wish bad for you)", Amitabh concluded. Karisma and Abhishek had reportedly been together for five years, and their engagement was met with celebration across the industry. Karisma herself had spoken warmly about joining the Bachchan family, saying, 'It feels wonderful to be a part of this family." However, the engagement didn't last. Just a few months later, the wedding was called off. While no official statements were released from either side, speculation has long pointed to disagreements behind the scenes. Reports suggest that Karisma's mother, Babita, played a role in ending the engagement. Allegedly, she was not in favour of Karisma marrying an actor whose career hadn't taken off as expected. She reportedly demanded a prenuptial agreement in which a portion of Amitabh Bachchan's wealth would be transferred to Abhishek—a term the Bachchans were not willing to accept. However, all these were just conjectures. In 2003, Karisma married Delhi-based industrialist Sunjay Kapur. But their union quickly unraveled, eventually leading to a highly public and bitter divorce battle in 2014. While the couple initially filed for divorce through mutual consent, the case escalated into an ugly legal fight filled with serious allegations. First Published:
