12-year-old girl falls 30 feet into gorge after zipline belt breaks mid-air in Manali, chilling video emerges
A Nagpur-based girl spending her summer vacation in Himachal Pradesh's Manali with her family was severely injured in a horrifying ziplining incident. Trisha Bijwe fell 30 feet into a rocky gorge while performing the adventure activity on June 8.
The video of the heart-stopping moment has since gone viral on social media, showing the girl falling onto a cluster of boulders as the cable gives way. Midway through the ride, the zipline cable suddenly broke, causing her to plunge nearly 30 feet into a gorge below.
Daughter of Prafulla and Bijwe from Nagpur, Trisha sustained multiple fractures in the fall. She underwent surgery a few days later and is currently recovering. Speaking to PTI, her father shared an update on her condition: 'My daughter's condition is now stable.'
Sharing the video, an X user Nikhil Saini wrote, 'This is why adventure sports aren't safe in India. In Manali, a young girl fell from a zipline—nearly 30 feet—and is now seriously injured. Anyone without proper experience starts these activities, and there's no one to check. Action is only taken after a fatal accident happens.'

The incident has raised serious concerns about safety standards and regulation at adventure activity sites across popular tourist destinations like Manali and has triggered outrage. 'This is Horrific. There are a number of these unauthorized Ziplines operating all over India. Strict Action is needed against these operators to prevent such accidents,' a user wrote. 'Never, ever do adventure sports in India. You've got zero-experience folks running the show, no guardrails, no safety protocols, no clue about first aid and absolutely no fear of legal consequences,' another user commented.
'Travelling inside India itself is an adventure!' a third user reacted.
In January, a tourist from Tamil Nadu died after the paraglider he was on collided with another paraglider. The incident happened at the Gadsa paragliding site in Kully and also left the pilot severely injured.

Targeted killing plot foiled, 2 gang men held
Mohali: Punjab Police state special operations cell (SSOC) on Sunday foiled a targetted killing plot by arresting two key operatives of Canada-based gangster Arshdeep Singh, alias Arsh Dala, from Moga district. Kawaljit Singh alias Kaka and Navdeep Singh alias Honey, both residents of Moga, have been arrested along with a pistol and nine live cartridges. According to AIG Ravjot Grewal, the SSOC received intelligence that Dala assigned the duo a high-profile killing in Faridkot. Acting on this input, a case was registered on June 13 under sections 25 and 25(7) of the Arms Act and Section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at SSOC police station in Mohali. The accused were arrested during a raid in Dharamkot, Moga, on Friday. Interrogation revealed that Kawaljit, a repeat offender with NDPS cases against him, was in direct contact with Dala. He recently received the weapon and Rs 1 lakh in cash to eliminate a Faridkot-based target, along with instructions to kill any family members present at the time. Navdeep was providing logistical support, while another associate already conducted a recce of the target. Efforts are underway to identify other members of the module. The SSOC secured a four-day police remand of the accused.

Surat police uncover cryptocurrency trail in cross-border cyber scam
Surat: In a major breakthrough, the Surat Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) has unearthed an international cybercrime racket with suspected links to China, Pakistan, and Myanmar. The operation came to light after a raid at a hotel in the Mahidharpura area, where two youths from Jodhpur were arrested. The accused — Ramswarup Bishnoi and Sagar Bishnoi, both 20 — were staying in Room 409 of Janta Inn Hotel near Surat railway station. Acting on a tip-off, DCB officials detained them and seized eight mobile phones, bank account kits, SIM cards, Aadhaar cards, diaries, and other suspicious documents. Preliminary investigation revealed financial transactions amounting to several crores of rupees, including large sums in cryptocurrency (USDT). Police said the duo had travelled to Surat to procure bank account kits to be used in fraudulent online operations. An FIR has been lodged against six people — five from Jodhpur and one from Surat. Accounts were found to be associated with several banks, including City Union Bank, Northeast Small Finance Bank, Federal Bank, State Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, and Ujjivan Small Finance Bank. The amount was then converted into cryptocurrency and transferred abroad using the Binance app. DCB officials have also raided multiple locations in Surat and detained additional suspects.
