WWE SmackDown results: Randy Orton pins LA Knight to reach King of the Ring semi-final

Time of India14 hours ago

Randy Orton returned to WWE with one thing on his mind. After five weeks away since losing the WWE Championship match to John Cena at Backlash in his hometown, The Viper stepped back into the ring on SmackDown and picked up a massive win. He defeated LA Knight, Carmelo Hayes, and Aleister Black in a thrilling four-way match to move into the semi-final of the King of the Ring tournament.
The show opened with a long promo segment featuring Orton, Cody Rhodes, LA Knight, and John Cena. Once the match started, the fans in Lexington were fully behind LA Knight. Every punch he threw got a huge cheer. He came close to winning after hitting Aleister Black with a BFT. But just when he looked set to advance, everything turned upside down.

As the match crossed the fifteen-minute mark, Bronson Reed appeared ringside. He is part of Seth Rollins' group and came straight for Knight. Reed caused a distraction just as Knight was trying to build momentum. That allowed Bron Breakker to storm in and hit a huge Spear on LA Knight.
It was revenge. Earlier this week on RAW, Knight had interfered in Breakker's fatal four-way match. His actions helped Sami Zayn win and qualify for the next round. Breakker and Reed clearly came to return the favour. Knight was down, Hayes went to the top rope for a splash, but Randy Orton had it all scouted. Orton caught Hayes in midair with a brilliant RKO. Hayes crashed right onto Knight and Orton pinned him for the win.
Aleister Black, who had also looked sharp earlier, was out of the picture after taking a BFT. The crowd was left stunned, but Orton had done what he came to do. The win puts him one step closer to becoming King of the Ring, which comes with a guaranteed title shot at SummerSlam.
Orton is chasing his 15th world title and he knows it will not be easy. Cody Rhodes, his close friend, is also part of the tournament. But Orton looks ready to face anyone who stands in his way. He has made it clear that nothing will stop him from getting back to the top.
For LA Knight, this is a tough blow. He had the fans, the momentum, and the match in control. But Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker had other plans. Their rivalry with Knight is only getting worse. From RAW to SmackDown, this feud has taken over both shows. And Knight will surely have more to say in the coming weeks.
Orton now moves on with his focus locked on the crown. The Viper will go up against Sami Zayn in the semi-final of the King of the Ring tournament. One more win will put him in the final. With the biggest prize waiting at SummerSlam, The Viper is all in.

WWE Hall of Famer slams TKO over Roman Reigns, Jey Uso treatment

Image via WWE W WE legend Rikishi has launched a scathing attack on the company's creative direction, accusing them of disrespecting his family's legacy - especially Roman Reigns and Jey Uso. The outspoken Hall of Famer voiced his frustrations on his Off The Top podcast, addressing recent decisions that he believes undermine the contributions of The Bloodline. From rumors of a pay cut for Reigns to Jey Uso's short-lived title reign, Rikishi believes WWE is making a 'big mistake' in how it's treating members of the Anoa'i dynasty - a family widely regarded as the greatest in pro wrestling history. Rikishi defends The Bloodline's legacy Rikishi's outrage was sparked by rumors suggesting WWE and its parent company, TKO, are considering reducing Roman Reigns' salary during his current break from TV. For Rikishi, such talk is deeply disrespectful, considering the impact Reigns has had on WWE's success in recent years. Short title reign fuels frustration The controversy escalated after Jey Uso lost his WWE World Heavyweight Championship to Gunther on the June 9 episode of RAW, just 51 days after winning it at WrestleMania 41. Fans were upset, and so was Rikishi. AND NEW! | Gunther dethrones Jey Uso for World Heavyweight Title: Raw highlights, June 9, 2025 He criticized WWE's writers for failing to support Jey's title run, saying they should be 'fired' for not being able to build around a rising champion. 'Would you have done this to John Cena or Randy Orton?' Rikishi asked. 'You give the title, and then give them nothing to work with? That's not fair.' Rikishi also pointed to past instances, like Jey's short Intercontinental Title reign - to show a pattern of what he calls missed opportunities for his son. He believes Jey's rise was earned through hard work, fan support, and years of dedication. With WWE seemingly moving in a new direction, questions loom over the future of The Bloodline. Fans and family alike are watching closely. Rikishi's fiery comments have ignited public debate, and it remains to be seen whether WWE will course-correct - or keep sidelining one of its most iconic families. "They're gonna do everything they can": WWE legend sees Seth Rollins as future face of company following a historic triumph

WWE legend sees Seth Rollins as future face of company following a historic triumph (Image Source: Getty) WWE fans are on the edge of their seats looking for the latest news regarding the future of Seth "Freakin'" Rollins after his historic win at the Money in the Bank Premium Live Event that took place on June 7, 2025. And now a lot wonder if that latest victory proves he's ready to be "the face of WWE" after all. Even hardcore wrestling legend Matt Hardy dropped his two cents on WWE's apparent strategy, with a statement suggesting the company is all in on the Visionary, which only added fuel to this fire. The Architect's historic triumph and new trajectory Cliche as it is, anything for the cookie crumbles, though, and Seth Rollins won his second Men's Money in the Bank briefcase, and that is something that does indeed put you in a league of your own amongst WWE Superstars. His first cash-in at WrestleMania 31 is one of the biggest moments in WWE history, and now, fans are ready to find out how he will cash in such an opportunity. With his constantly evolving character and in-ring style, Rollins has entertained fans with his unique mixture of athleticism, charisma, and pure skill, so this win is right on time. Speculation had arisen that the Money in the Bank match could serve its purpose of launching a younger, emerging star into the title picture. WWE giving the briefcase back to Rollins, though, shows where the company wants to head. As Matt Hardy recently stated, "The Seth Rollins thing is fine. I like the fact that, you know, we thought it was a red herring. I thought it was too. I thought they would use this to elevate someone else. But they, they really have all of their momentum behind Seth Rollins right now, and they're gonna do everything they can to make Seth Rollins the guy.' The path to becoming the face of WWE Matt Hardy's comments reiterate WWE's switch when it comes to their focus on Rollins as the face of the company. The "face of WWE" position has been a fiercely fought battle for years, with an unstoppable force usually holding onto the mantle of face of the brand. Also Read: Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins achieve rare WWE championship feat This is all very serious and heelish behavior from Rollins, who has, of course, turned heel on the first night of WrestleMania 41 and been put into one of the most threatening new factions (along with Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, seemingly working under Paul Heyman). This new direction, in addition to his Money in the Bank leverage, creates plenty of avenues for WWE to cement him at the top.
