Trader Joe's beloved mini canvas tote bags are back, just in time for Easter.
The California-based grocery store chain confirmed to USA TODAY in March that it would release its mini canvas totes this month at stores nationwide, and now the $2.99 bags on the shelves in pastel shades of blue, pink, purple and green.
Customers who want the mini totes should act fast: They're a limited-time product and each store decides its own merchandising plan, a Trader Joe's spokesperson told USA TODAY.
"If customers have any questions about product availability, they can ask any crew member in their neighborhood store," according to the spokesperson.
Listings on the sale and auction site ebay already showed bags being sold for $15 or more and lots of four going for more than $50.
Here are the locations statewide:
Ann Arbor
Bloomfield Hills
Kentwood
Northville
East Lansing
Rochester Hills
Grosse Pointe
Kalamazoo
Royal Oak
In March 2024, the mini totes became so popular that customers waited in lengthy lines to get their hands on them. Viral videos on TikTok showed frenzies and long lines at the stores, where employees were often forced to limit how many bags customers could purchase.
The "mini canvas tote bags certainly sold more quickly than we anticipated," Trader Joe's representative Nakia Rohde told USA TODAY in March 2024. "Before we had the opportunity to promote them in any way, customers across the country found them at their neighborhood Trader Joe's."
The overwhelming hype led people to list the bags for as much as $500 on online marketplaces like Facebook and eBay. At the time, Trader Joe's made it clear that it was aware of the resellers, adding that it was "done without our approval or authorization and outside the controls of our quality-minded supply chain."
The company continued, "To be clear, we neither condone nor support the reselling of our products and do all we can to stop the practice."
Listings as of April 9 on ebay show numerous 2025 mini totes for sale.
Single totes were listed as low as $15 each while some listings for lots of four were going for more than $50.
