Did anybody have as big a night at the Met Gala as Thom Browne? The designer dressed 21 guests in one-off creations—Demi Moore, Zoe Saldana, Lorde, Janelle Monae, and Nicki Minaj, among them. 'It's almost like a mini couture collection,' Browne said a few days after the festivities. We were Zooming about pre-fall, an offering that encompasses the other end of his business: the essential Thom Browne.
Like the fall collection, which was shown back in February but will arrive in stores, including new outposts in Palm Beach and Los Angeles, after this one, pre-fall emphasizes the wearability of Browne's clothes. At the Met, Moore donned a sculptural gown in the shape of a men's striped necktie, the loop creating a dramatic frame for her face. Here, the focus is on precise tailoring and proportion play in a range of fabrications—less high-concept, more classic. 'The most important thing is for people to see that the collection and the business are evolving in the strongest way—to not take away from what people have always appreciated about my collections,' he explained.
The mesh basketball jerseys, number 65 for Browne's birth year 1965, are cashmere, he pointed out. 'I really feel like the tailoring could be sportswear as much as the sportswear can be tailoring,' he added. Browne has dressed his share of basketballers, but tennis and golf are clear references here, and deck shoes and duck boots are in the mix, as well. Expanding his accessories category is part of the brand growth strategy. The most interesting development in this regard is the addition of unstructured styles, like the new versions of the Mr. and Mrs. Thom bags in distressed leather.
That's not to say Browne's exacting vision has slackened. Those who wear his clothes like a uniform will recognize themselves in this collection. But pieces like a suede 'jean jacket' and a work shirt in mohair tweed suggest a new softness that could entice new customers into his exclusive fold.

Fortnite Season 3 Fortnite servers have gone dark following the massive Death Star Sabotage live-event. The short, five-week Season 2 which featured all Star Wars content has come to an end, and the new Superman-themed Season 3 is about to begin. Typically new seasons of Fortnite kick off in the middle of the night or early morning, but Season 3 is slated to launch this evening, and possibly as early as this afternoon if you're on the West Coast. Server downtime is typically three or four hours, so with the game going down at roughly 2:30pm ET / 11:30am PT we could see Season 3 go live as early as mid-afternoon. Update: According to the in-game timer at the end of the live-event, downtime will last 5.5 hours, meaning Season 3 will launch at 8pm ET / 5pm PT. The new season brings James Gunn's Superman to the Battle Pass. The new model is based on David Corenswet's Man of Steel. The suit looks pretty good on this Fortnite version of the character. We also get Robin and Jonesy this season, along with other skins. Crossovers will be abundant, as per usual, with One Punch Man and Squid Game skins headed to the game. Fortnite is now available on more devices than ever for Season 3, with the game returning to mobile devices and launching on the Nintendo Switch 2. Players were able to load in early and play a Tie-Fighter vs X-Wing dogfighting game for a couple hours prior to the event going live which was pretty fun. I had no trouble getting into the event this time, which is a nice change of pace from many previous Fortnite events. Atlantic Starr founding member Wayne Lewis dead aged 68
Wayne Lewis, founding member of the R B group Atlantic Starr, has died aged 68. The American singer and keyboardist was a pivotal force behind the group's success in the late 1980s and early 1990s, which included chart-topping hits such as Always, Secret Lovers and Masterpiece, and died on Thursday (05.06.25), though news of his passing only came to light on Saturday (07.06.25.) His cause of death has not been disclosed. The news was announced on the band's official Facebook page, with a post saying: 'It's with great sadness we have to post the passing of Wayne Lewis on June 5, 2025. Please keep the family in your prayers and respect their privacy.' Tributes from fans flooded the page, describing Wayne as a 'legend' and the 'voice of a generation'. One wrote: 'RIP BROTHER… The voice of a generation!!!! My condolences to the family.' Another commented: 'Rest in Peace! Talented and Gorgeous.' Further tributes included: 'RIP thanks for the music,' and 'Thank you for the legacy condolences to the family and friends.' Wayne, who co-founded Atlantic Starr in New York, remained a core member of the group throughout decades of changes in its line-up. Alongside his brother Jonathan Lewis, also a founding member, Wayne helped shape the band's smooth blend of R and B, soul and pop. The group released their debut album in 1978 but found mainstream success nearly a decade later. Their 1987 single Always reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and R B charts, securing the band's place in music history. Their 1992 track Masterpiece also became a major hit, peaking at number three on both the US Pop and R and B charts. In recent years, Wayne had continued touring the US with Jonathan, their nephew Shammah Carter, and vocalist Melessa Pierce under the name Atlantic Starr Band. Wayne's death comes just three months after the passing of another 1980s R ands B star, Stedman Pearson, frontman of British band Five Star. Stedman, who died aged 60 in March 2025, was known for his family group's slick performances and success with tracks such as Rain or Shine. He was described by family as an 'amazing son, brother and uncle' and 'a gentleman to the very end'.
