How Jack Black and Jason Momoa Share a Mine Cart in ‘A Minecraft Movie'

Redstone and piglins and creepers, oh my!
Fans of Minecraft will recognize a few of the game's elements in this scene from 'A Minecraft Movie.' But the sequence is also a good comic excuse to stuff Jack Black and Jason Momoa into a mine cart together.
The scene takes place in the redstone mines, where Steve (Black) has brought Garrett (Jason Momoa) and Henry (Sebastian Hansen) to access his diamond stash. But trouble is afoot in the form of a piglin biological superweapon, who has an arm cannon ready to blast the protagonists. They plan an escape via mine cart, using redstone to power their way out.
The film's director, Jared Hess, said that he worked with his production designer Grant Major (the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy) to build many of the sets practically, including this mine set, and then extended those sets with visual effects.
'We had a ton of fun coming up with the size of the mine cart design,' Hess said, 'because we wanted to fit Jack and Jason in the same cart. And they are two of some of the juiciest hunks in motion pictures.'
He said the actors felt the circulation in their thighs was being cut off, so they had to take a lot of breaks, but they ultimately made it through.
'This was such a fun sequence to shoot,' Hess told me. 'Lots of laughs on set, it was great.'

"From day one, Orlando didn't think going on the Blue Origin mission was a good idea, and knew she would face backlash," the source said. "He always thought it was a stupid idea, and she wouldn't get anything positive out of it." The "Roar" hitmaker joined the all-female crew comprising Aisha Bowe, Lauren Sanchez, Kerianne Flynn, Gayle King, and Amanda Nguyen for the April 15 flight despite her fiancé's alleged reservations. While en route, she held up a daisy seemingly in a bid to honor her and Bloom's daughter, Daisy. Upon her return, she stopped to kiss the ground, but was ridiculed by many who thought the trip was "unnecessary" and her actions afterwards were "dramatic." Even celebrities, such as Emily Ratajkowski and Olivia Munn, didn't hold back with their criticisms of the all-female space trip. "That space mission this morning. That's end time sh-t. This is beyond parody," Ratajkowski fumed. "Saying that you care about Mother Earth and it's about Mother Earth and you're going up in a spaceship that is built and paid for by a company that's single-handedly destroying the planet?" "Look at the state of the world and think about how many resources went into putting these women into space. For what? What was the marketing there?" She added. It appears Bloom has reached his breaking point amid the underlying tensions in his relationship, with a source sharing that the actor needs space from Perry. The disagreements between them are said to have made the "Lord of the Rings" actor believe Perry "doesn't take him seriously." "He has been frustrated that his opinion is not being taken seriously or even heard," the source continued. "He feels she is a different person lately." According to the news outlet, the insider also confirmed rumors that the pair have hit a "rough patch" in their relationship and are now leading separate lives. The 48-year-old actor has repeatedly been spending time alone and arrived without Perry at the "Deep Cover" premiere during the 2025 Tribeca Festival on June 10 in New York City. "Katy was deeply frustrated following the reception of her new album," a source told the news outlet. "It made her very stressed. Orlando was understanding, but it did cause some tension." "She was also disappointed in some of the tour reviews. It's put stress on their relationship," another source said. Perry is currently on her Lifetimes world tour, which began on April 23 and runs through December 7. Perry and Bloom's relationship has faced challenging times before, following their split in 2017. Addressing the breakup in a 2024 appearance on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast, the "Teenage Dreams" singer said both of them "weren't really in it from day one." "He was because he had just done a huge time of celibacy, and he had set intentions," Perry continued. "I was fresh out of a relationship, and I was like, I can't do this anymore. I need to swim in a different pond, but I had to do a lot of real work." In 2023, Bloom also addressed the challenges he and Perry faced in their relationship, insinuating that their different career paths could be a factor in the issues they have encountered. Two-lane roads are a lot less overwhelming than six-lane highways, and who doesn't love seeing a baby deer on their way to work? However, when you live somewhere truly isolated, like a cabin in the forest, coexisting with animals is a given, too. This can come as a shock to some, but for 'mountain man' @stevenson_t, it feels perfectly natural to see black bears wandering near, and even on, his property. The homeowner shares his black bear encounters on TikTok, but one particular interaction with a curious black bear cub on June 4 left everyone laughing out loud. The bold little bear helps themself to the man's morning coffee! OMG, I've never seen a bear cub drinking coffee before! It seems like the little one likes what they taste, considering how many times they came back for more. If the close proximity and little paw dip into the coffee weren't convincing enough, that eye contact sealed the deal. This curious cub reminds me of my dogs attempting to help themselves to everything I eat or drink, but I wouldn't stop a bear the same way I would stop my dog. A morning coffee is nice, but it's not worth risking an angry mama bear!I can hardly believe that someone casually interacts with black bear cubs like this. They're literally face to face! Clearly, the bears have been seeing him regularly since birth, so he's just another pal, but it's hard to believe that Mama Bear is just as friendly. "This is her second litter," the bear whisperer replied to a commenter. "She brings them right up to meet me." That's simply magical! It must have taken years for this man to build a trusting relationship with these wild animals, but his patience and hard work paid off adorably. As many commenters pointed out, this interaction would have gone very differently if these cubs were brown bears. Avoiding close interactions with all bears is a great rule of thumb, but if you do happen upon a bear in the wild, you'd better hope it's a black bear like the ones in this video. Both types of bears tend to avoid human interaction when necessary, but black bears can be more easily intimidated and are more likely to run away when frightened. Brown bears (including grizzly bears), on the other hand, are more likely to attack. Luckily for this man, he's made friends with a trusting family of black bears who are just as willing to coexist as he is. I hope their safe interactions continue for as long as possible! People in central Tennessee were stunned when they looked up and saw a zebra being airlifted in the sky. The zebra had been on the loose for more than a week before officials managed to track the animal down and take him back to safety. But not before the internet caught wind of the animal's escapades and made him a star. The zebra became instant internet gold after videos started circulating of him online. Call the clip wickedly good. The video shows the zebra being airlifted to a song from the hit musical Wicked. And it's just so fitting. Guess the zebra was defying gravity, right? 'THE TENNESSEE ZEBRA IS SAVED,' the video's poster, Peyton Kennedy wrote in the comments section couldn't help but laugh. 'Why does he look so embarrassed?' wondered one person. 'He's like, 'Yup, that's me. You probably wonder how I got here…'' another commenter joked. 'Imagine living your whole life on the ground and then all the sudden this happens,' quipped another person. 'Imagine not knowing there was a missing zebra and then just seeing this,' someone else teased. According to the Associated Press, the zebra is named Ed and first came to Christiana, Tennessee on May 30. His owner reported him missing the next day. From that point on, the wild animal was spotted in different spots around town, including along Interstate 24. The zebra's appearance caused police to shut the interstate down, but they still weren't able to capture him. Ed continued to be spotted out and about in Christian. Footage of the animal was shared on social media, prompting all sorts of hilarious memes and videos. Eventually the zebra was tracked down to a pasture near a subdivision. The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office confirmed that once they spotted the zebra they sent out aviation crews to reign the animal in. 'Ed was airlifted and flown by helicopter back to a waiting animal trailer,' a spokesperson for the sheriff's office said in a statement.
