The Director General of the National Library and Archives, Barq Raad Alawi, accompanied by the representative of the Mandaean sect in Iraq, Qais Sheikh Badr, inaugurated the first artificial intelligence (AI) art exhibition under the title "Life is a Painting."
According to a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Alawi praised the exhibition's innovative concept and distinctive artistic content, which highlights the intersection between art and technology. He emphasized the potential of integrating AI into creative production to open new avenues for artists and writers to explore fresh dimensions of creativity.
Meanwhile, writer Asmaa Mohammed Mustafa, who organized the opening ceremony at the Generations Library within the institution's headquarters, stated that the exhibition features a collection of AI-generated artworks designed for children. She described it as a unique experience showcasing the interaction between human creativity and technology, commending the National Library and Archives for its significant role in supporting cultural initiatives.

According to the statement "The joint design has been approved and implementation has begun on one of the Cultural Village's facades overlooking the Arabian Gulf."

'Saeed Effendi' represents Iraq at the Cannes International Festival

Al-Hasan Ibn Al-Haytham Committee for Iraqi Visual Memory, operating under the Office of PM Muhammed S. Al-Sudani, announced on Saturday the official selection of the 1956 film Saeed Effendi to represent Iraq at the 78th annual Cannes Film Festival, within the Cannes Classics section. "This historic selection, the first of its kind for Iraqi cinema, is the result of the Iraqi Cinematheque project, which seeks to revive Iraq's cinematic heritage and share it with the world," according to a statement by the Presidency's Media Office - received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA. The film was meticulously restored by the French National Audiovisual Institute, and the restored version is now preserved by the committee. "Saeed Effendi is one of 104 Iraqi feature films, produced between the 1940s and early 2000s, that the Iraqi Cinematheque project aims to preserve and restore," added the statement.

Baghdad - INA The Al-Hassan Ibn Al-Haytham Committee for the Visual Memory of Iraq - Office of the Prime Minister announced today, Wednesday, the selection of the film "Saeed Effendi" to represent Iraq at the Cannes Film Festival. A statement from the committee, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "the Al-Hassan Ibn Al-Haytham Committee for the Visual Memory of Iraq - Office of the Prime Minister of Iraq, proudly announced, within the framework of the Iraq Cinematheque project, the selection of the film (Saeed Effendi), directed by Kamran Hosni and produced in 1956, to officially represent Iraq at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, in the Cannes Classics section." The statement added, "This selection, the first of its kind in the history of Iraqi cinema, is the result of the efforts of the Al-Hassan Ibn Al-Haytham Committee for the Visual Memory of Iraq - Office of the Prime Minister of Iraq, with the support of the French Embassy in Iraq and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and implemented by Expertise France through the Iraq Cinematheque project." He pointed out that "the film was restored in 4K resolution at the French National Institute of Audiovisual Arts (INA) using the original negative," noting that "the restored copy of the film has been preserved by the Hassan ibn al-Haytham Committee for the Visual Memory of Iraq." The statement continued, "(Saeed Effendi) is based on the story (Shijjar) by Edmond Sabri and is considered one of the most prominent Iraqi classics. This unprecedented step represents a revival of Iraqi cinematic heritage and its transmission to the world through its widest possible doors."
